Life skill for your ADHD teen

About Life skill for your ADHD teen:

All teens need help preparing for the adult world. For parents of an ADHD teen, additional navigation is essential—starting today!

The average human brain isn’t fully developed until around the age of 25. That’s already 7 years into adult life.

When you consider the neuro differences between a typical brain and an ADHD brain, your teen may have greater developmental challenges.

Think of how hard it is to sit down and dedicate time to your budget or to find a moment to stay on top of household chores.

When the world gives you (an adult) problem after problem, it’s almost impossible to control your emotions.

But you know how to manage your impulses, your focus, and your time. Does your teen?

The emphasis on early intervention is wonderful—if you have a toddler.

However, the support for parents who need to teach their teens complete independence is extremely limited. Until now!

In this companion for adults with ADHD teens, here is just a fraction of what you will discover:

● What ADHD feels like for a teen but how this doesn’t have to stop them from becoming self-empowered adults
● How a potential lack of dopamine and reduced frontal lobe activity makes life for an ADHD teen even more challenging
● How a teen’s enthusiasm for technology can help with personal hygiene
● 3 diets proven by experts to ensure your teen is getting all the nutrients they need
● How to get teens to use their senses and get excited about cooking before flying the nest
● Techniques to support teens when they are feeling stressed, anxious, or angry
● 10 ways for teens to get better at time management, along with a BONUS — the procrastination enemy!
● How color-coding makes organization simpler for the ADHD brain
● The answer to one of parents’ great debates—Should your teen get a job?
● How teens can start managing their money before they get into financial trouble
● What essential adult documentation a teen will have to be responsible for and how to model a practical filing system
● How to teach teens crucial skills like listening and positive self-talk to boost their confidence in social situations

And much more.

The Adventures of Kirk Rogers

About The Adventures of Kirk Rogers:

An overconfident pilot with a stolen spaceship must fix an alien device before time runs out. The Newtonians came to Earth two thousand years ago looking for a place to call home. Earth was perfect except its Sun had a fatal flaw that needed to be corrected. Once it was fixed, they were free to abandon their ship and leave it to orbit the planet below. Earthlings commonly refer to it as The Moon.

For two thousand years, Sheldor was nothing more than a highly intelligent computer program that maintained every function of Atlantis. It was a very boring and predictable job that was the same, day in, and day out. The monotony didn’t bother him, nor was he aware that it was an utterly boring life. He didn’t long for change or wonder when it will all end, he just did his job.

It wasn’t until an asteroid slammed into the side of the ship that his life changed in a dramatic way. The damage that followed prevented him from carrying out an important task. A task that would save the Earth below. Part of his programming required him to ensure the survival of the Newtonians and the many generations that followed after them.

The asteroid caused a cave-in deep inside a cannon that was supposed to fire photon particles into the volatile sun and correcting its flaw. The cannon required fixing but his figurative hands were tied. He needed someone with enough Newtonian blood to unlock his controls so that he could make the repairs. He was forced to use the satellites in Earth’s orbit to scan the planet below for possible candidates that he could teleport to the inside of the ship. But the process was imperfect.
That’s how Laura Rogers ended up inside the moon making friends with a giant spider and a man called The Dangerous One. Kirk always looked after his little sister and he would do anything to find her. Including, steal a spaceship. If you like Star Trek and Star Wars, The Kirk Rogers Series celebrates all things scifi with some familiar themes while having a unique story of its own. Don’t worry, even if you don’t catch all the subtle hints or Easter Eggs, it doesn’t take anything away from the story. I hope you enjoy the series as much as I do, and thanks for reading!

Featured Interview With Chris Riley

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a husband, father, special education teacher, and writer. I was raised in San Diego, went to college at Humboldt State, and now live in the Sacramento area, vowing one day to move back to the Pacific Northwest. Currently, I do not have any pets. But my family and I were blessed to have two wonderful guinea pigs — Peanut Butter and Buddy — both of which recently moved on to the great hayfield in the sky. We miss them terribly.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I got hooked into books in the 8th grade, for about a solid year, reading mostly military history. Then I sidetracked with martial arts and drumming up until my last year in college, when I discovered the Dragonlance Chronicles. It’s been off an on since then, reading all sorts of genres. I got started writing about twelve years ago. I began with short stories, and within a few months, got my first acceptance letter. I’ve had over 100 stories published since, as well as two novels. Although a lonely endeavor, writing can be quite addictive.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Favorite authors and inspirations go hand-in-hand. My list is quite large, but here are some of my all time favorites: J. R. R. Tolkien, Tim O’Brien, Dan Simmons, Stephen Hunter, Louis L’Amour, James Rollins, and George Martin. I read a lot of small press publications as well, particularly in the weird fiction genre, and some of my favorites within are Robert Shearman, V.H. Leslie, Richard Gavin, and D. P. Watt. Khanh Ha is a very elegant writer. Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD is the most poignant novel I’ve read, while Hemingway’s THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA is the most satisfying. But if I had to pick just one writer I could read forever more, my vote would easily go to John Steinbeck.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, titled THE BROKEN PINES, was a story I wrote a few years back, just after the publication of my debut novel, THE SINKING OF THE ANGIE PIPER. The inspiration for the novel came to me one day, as I was reminiscing about a time, years ago, when I worked with a young boy who had “lost” his ability to speak–he was suffering from a condition known as Traumatic Mutism. Something about that event stuck with me, all these years, such that I found a place for it in my story.
So that was the basis for my novel, in as much as I knew one of my characters would be a boy suffering from Traumatic Mutism. But what I had to figure out was all the rest. I needed more of a problem to solve, and that came with who this boy’s father was. Adding to the perplexity, I was watching Sons of Anarchy at the time, so of course, I just had to imbed the whole biker culture into the story. Which ironically opened the door to another element of my life, one that pertained to Humboldt County. Specifically speaking, the growing of marijuana, an endeavor I had nothing to do with (in all its forms), but nobody can live behind the Redwood Curtain for 12 years and not learn something.

A Lady Newspaperman’s Dilemma by Eileen Joyce Donovan

About A Lady Newspaperman’s Dilemma by Eileen Joyce Donovan:

Based on actual events, this story is set in a newspaper office in Eastern Montana in 1926. A time when the American public was obsessed with newspaper horror stories of what most today would consider ordinary murders or other man-made catastrophes. Anything that could contribute to the roar of the Roaring 20’s was commercialized, became sensational news overnight, and newspaper fodder for many days thereafter. Hence, a flood that could destroy a town became a front-page event. More than anything, Alex wants to be a journalist for a major metropolitan newspaper. a field dominated by men. Harriet Quimby and Nellie Bly notwithstanding. Although she’s covered other front-page stories, including a murder of a much loved and respected rancher, this flood will affect everyone living in Sunset Valley, if they survive. When this life changing story falls into her lap, her editor threatens to assign it to a more seasoned male reporter, or maybe cover it himself. Alex becomes frustrated at being cast aside and is determined to hold on to her right to cover the breaking news. Her story will ring true to all women who have been passed over in favor of a male associate, those who didn’t give in and broke through the glass ceiling and inspire women who are just getting their feet wet in their careers.

Featured Interview With Joshua Martin

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I come from the land of the ice and snow…just kidding…although it does get pretty cold. Too cold, if you ask me. I’m actually born and raised in the Hudson Valley region of New York State and still reside here.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been a reader. I read The Hobbit in second grade and the trudged through the Lord of the Rings books as best I could over the next three years. I don’t know how much I actually understood, but I finished them.
I wrote from an early age too. I remember in fifth grade we had journals. I still have mine somewhere, and they were supposed to be a little diary of your activities or whatever. Mine is mostly creative writing. Bad creative writing, but hey, I was 10.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Being a horror guy everything really begins and ends with Stephen King. He’s our Mark Twain. Jackson, Poe, Matheson, Lovecraft, and others blazed the trail, but King is, well the King. I read a lot of horror. Paul Tremblay. Grady Hendrix. Joe Hill (of course). I also read almost as much fantasy, its the thread back to Tolkien. Martin, Jordan, Sanderson, and even Terry Brooks can still turn out some interesting things every once in a while.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
So my latest release is a collection of stories called GHOSTS FROM THE RUINS. some of the stories I’d had published in other places. Other were old works I doctored up a bit. The title story is brand new for the collection. The stories all vaguely have a through line of death from different perspectives. There’s a story about a 4-year-old girl, a woman in love, a man broken by tragedy, and a grandmother who can’t wait to die. All are reactions to death in some way.
