Featured Author Stephanie Taylor

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a high school English teacher who has always loved to read and write. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, but traveled as a model and spent a decade in Florida as a newlywed. My husband and I are back home in Portland with our 12-year-old daughter, a dog, and a cat who got to move back here with us from the Sunshine State. (And for the record: people don’t love you on airplanes when you’re traveling with a baby and small animals!) I write contemporary women’s fiction, have a YA title under the pen name Reed Hall (“@Robertopancake: A Story About a Boy”), and my daughter and I co-author a series of middle grade books.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I can’t remember NOT loving books. In fact, I remember reading the “Pippi Longstocking” books in my room when I was young and supposed to be napping. I started writing as a kid and vividly remember telling my mom that the only things I wanted to be when I grew up were “happy” and “a writer.” And now that I’m in my 40s, I can honestly say that I’m both of those things!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I’ll honestly read anything that catches my fancy, regardless of author. I like well-written, contemporary fiction, I love women’s fiction, YA stories can grab me as long as they aren’t dystopian or futuristic, and I’m always a sucker for a good time travel story. Successful indie authors inspire me all the time. I love to read interviews with people who started out where I am and made their dreams come true through creativity, kindness, being genuine and hardworking, and had a smattering of good luck!

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My current book is the first in my women’s fiction series. I actually started writing it in 2008, but I ended up tinkering with it, changing the point-of-view, tense, characters, and plot lines until I finally got serious about it last year and committed to seeing it through. It’s set on a fictional island off the coast of Florida called “Christmas Key” and it has elements of romance, drama, and humor. There are colorful characters from more than one generation living there (think “Gilmore Girls” meets “Golden Girls”) and twists and turns galore. I love spending time on Christmas Key so much that I have ideas for at least five more books in the series!

Featured Author David Kummer

David-Profile-PicFeatured Interview With David Kummer

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is David Kummer. I’m a 15-year-old author from Madison, Indiana, which is a little town on the Ohio River. I’ve lived here for 8 years of my life, with my ever-growing family. Now, we’re up to 9 kids, and 6 are nine years old or younger. We have four dogs, lots of dead goldfish, and some cats that live in our trash.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been a very avid reader. I was reading high school-level books in fourth grade.

I started writing when I was very young, about 9 or 10, but only published my first book last year in 2015 (As Trees Turned Away). My first novel came later that year (She), and since then I’ve published a novella, a short story, and an anthology with other authors. I’ve got plenty more planned, and have gotten almost all positive reviews!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love reading J.K. Rowling and Christopher Paolini, but my favorite genre is actually Horror and also Fantasy. I love reading those two authors, however, because J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series is a masterpiece and I’ll be re-reading it forever and ever. Paolini writes an amazing four books in his “Inheritance Cycle,” which I also will read for a long time to come.

The authors who inspire and influence me are Cornelie Funke, Mark Edwards, J. K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jack Ketchum, Ike Hamill, and Stephen King

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book was My Abigail. There’s a plot twist about 3/4 of the way through, and I wanted to write a book centered around this. I won’t tell you exactly what that is, but I’ll say that nobody has seen it coming so far among my readers.

The book’s short and cheap, only 99 cents for about 150 pages. Took me half a year of painstaking work, though.

It’s about a boy named Caleb who meets a girl named Abigail. He soon realizes she’s not at all what he thinks. Caleb has to choose who he will hurt and who he will forgive. And in the end, somebody will die -in more ways than one.

Featured Author Brian Paul Lakins

author-picFeatured Interview With Brian Paul Lakins

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was ingrained into the Christian faith as a young child…then seeking my own ways for a season, the prodigal returned to Jesus with a God-given passion to write and speak to Christians and seekers to inspire them to live holy in an unholy world. I earned my degree in Biblical studies from Liberty University.

Wisdom was gained in the trenches of life, and the passion for me to address deep questions of faith beyond surface teachings was produced. Through years of personal study, the original Millions Vanished vision was birthed in 2005.

I have had 8 years of notes on my website that I converted into this five book series, then I converted the site to my author and book site. I was raised in Knoxville, TN, but left there 7 years ago for a girl I met online. We have been married since 2009 and have two beautiful kids. Fun fact: we got married after meeting only 2 months and 3 weeks prior.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I never had a fascination with books. The truth is that I almost didn’t graduate. I really never had a study ethic or motivation to learn from books until I gave my life to Jesus in 2004. Since then, He has given me a passion and desire to learn everything permissible about Him and His Word.

I started writing at the age of 29, in 2007, after God placed it in me to write a book about salvation from Genesis through Revelation. I knew it was God Speaking to my inner being, but ignored it for 9 months until the burden was so great on me I couldn’t ignore it or fight it any longer.

I told Him I didn’t know how to write a book, but I will just start trying. He qualified me during that 15 month process and honed my research and study skills. Today, I have no hobby that exceeds my love for writing. I just love it!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My all time favorite author is Finis Jennings Dake. He wrote God’s Plan for Man, Revelation Expounded, The Rapture and the Second Coming of Christ, Bible Truths Unmasked, Another Time…Another Place…Another Man, Heavenly Hosts, and more. My favorite of all, which I’ve spent the most time in is the Dake Annotated Reference Bible. I’d recommend anyone reading his books over mine, but if I thought I was a better writer than my favorite author, then I’d consider myself vain. The only genre I’m interested in is Christian Non-fiction and the categories that peak my interest the most are: RELIGION > Biblical Studies > Prophecy; RELIGION > Christian Theology > Eschatology; RELIGION > Biblical Studies > Soteriology; RELIGION > Christian Theology > Soteriology. If you met me at work you would never think this, until we spent the day together 🙂

I’ll tell you WHAT inspires me. Everyone I have ever met or ever will meet is/has going to end up in one of two places. I have had my best childhood friend die in 2001 at the age of 22. He was not living for God and I believe he is in hell. I never told him the salvation message.

I promised that would never be something I will live with again.

Fast-forward to May 16, 2016, a dear friend of mine killed himself. I hadn’t seen him in years, but the last thing I spoke to him about was Jesus. I mourn for him, but I have no blood on my hands.

I write for all of us who are alive and still have time to understand the plan of God for man-kind. We all have the ability to live holy lives while it is still day. My motivation is for obedience unto God and His Great Commission first, and then for my fellow man to repent and live soberly and holy, watching for the blessed hope and the return of God and His Son to come to earth.

The Who is easy. The Holy Spirit inspires me to write…. to keep doing my part in the mandate we call, The Great Commission.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is Unveiling Raptures and Resurrections, which is book 1 in a series of 5 called, Millions Vanished. It started off being called, Revealing Rapture Truth, but I was lead to go a different course. The foundation had to be laid. The rapture of the church is always the focus, but it’s just a by-product of the first resurrection.

There are two resurrections, both consisting of several raptures, or phases. For example, Jesus is called the first fruit of the first resurrection (1 Cor. 15:20, 23). The two witnesses will be resurrected and raptured during the Tribulation. The church is the second phase of the first resurrection, and there are two more.

I leave the rapture timing debate for book two, 7 Rapture Views. I began writing this book in December of 2015, and finished books 1-2 in March. I already had years of study and notes, so it wasn’t hard at all. These 2 first books will make the rapture topic easy and clear, leaving you the expert when the subject comes up.

mag51Featured Interview With VIRGINIA MCKEVITT

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Long Beach, California, but lived most of my life in the suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana, the place I call home. I have been married to my best friend and lover for over forty years (gah, I know, right!). I have a daughter and two beautiful grandsons who are spoiled rotten. My other children include Oreo (a Border Collie) and Davey (a twenty pound cat).
I has been many things in life; a wife, a mother, a salesperson, owned a landscaping business and raised horses. Hurricane Katrina, a curse to many, changed my life. The business gone and family scattered, I moved to Alabama, then to the mountains of Georgia.
Life goes on, so when I found the first chapters of a manuscript I had started while still in New Orleans, I sat down at the computer and never looked back. My crazy imagination and love for fantasy has culminated into a story I hopes will captivate anyone who loves a good journey. Fracture The Secret Enemy Saga, started so many years ago is the beginning of the road. The Hunted and Secrets is the continuing journey, with Destiny to be released in 2016. Where do I go from here? Who knows where the road will lead.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started reading when I was about four years old. I have a sister who is ten years older than I am and she loved to read to us little ones (I come from a family of eight) all the time. She was the one who taught me to read.
That is when my love for reading and fantasy really began. My imagination was always off the charts, and reading books like Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and Cinderella, only added fuel to the fire. Disney’s Snow White is the first book I remember reading by myself. I carried that little book around with me until it fell apart.
As I got older my taste changed, but not my hunger for fantasy or reading. I would write little stories about fairies, dragons, wizards, and kings. My teen years were vampires and the baddies that run around today. It’s funny how the circle continues.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Some of my favorite authors are- Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Anne Rice, and James Patterson. I could go on… Anne Rice in my teens, Stephen King forever, and the rest just followed. Fantasy and science fiction are my favorite reads, but I do like mysteries and thrillers. My taste in reading also spills over into the movies and television shows I like. I am a character driven writer and I want that in a movie or TV show. My all time favorite books are Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, along with Grimm as my fav TV show.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Book four of Fracture the Secret Enemy Saga is titled, Destiny. This series is an arcing relationship between two people and their alternate worlds. The story is spread over several books and you can read more about this story at Amazon.com.
Book four finds our heroes with a new villain to conquer, a voodoo priest who has the power of fallen angels at his fingertips. Ruthless and insatiable, he will stop at nothing to control the city he once called home, New Orleans.
Will Tegrin and Kristina prevail, or will the power of black magic be to strong for the two to overcome?

Jessica_Hernandez_2-JPGFeatured Interview With Jessica Hernandez

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in the beautifully sunny state of Florida. I attended the University of Miami, where I spent more time than I care to admit daydreaming of a faraway land called Acu. Upon graduating with a degree in English and Political Science in 2014, I put pen to paper and brought Acu to life—so resulted “Capering on Glass Bridges.” Here are a few fun facts about me:
* I love going to theme parks (#UniversalOrlandoAnnualPassholder).
* I am a compulsive ice-chewer.
* I am addicted to chocolate.
* Playing “Dance Dance Revolution” on my Wii is the closest that I’ll ever get to dancing (#NoRhythm).
* I live with a shih-tzu, a German Shepherd, and a bunch of saltwater fish.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I think that my love for all things related to storytelling was first kindled in high school. It wasn’t until college, though, that I actually started to consider pursuing a career in writing. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. For whatever reason, I wound up changing my mind and looking into a career in marine biology. That didn’t stick for too long. After watching the Winter Olympics one year, I set my sights on figure skating. (You should have seen how quick my parents were to snap me back to reality!) Eventually, I removed the skates from my Amazon shopping cart and arrived at the decision to study medicine. It stuck…until I started college, that is. Long story short, it was in college that I realized that I wanted to write. And I lived happily ever after. 🙂

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love the classics, works of fantasy, and young adult novels. My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Leo Tolstoy, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and Ransom Riggs. The one who has inspired me the most, however, is C.S. Lewis.

Lewis’ prose is exceptionally colorful. His writing style is such that readers can visualize the events unfolding in the narrative without any difficulty. I can still recall flipping through the pages of “The Magician’s Nephew” when I was younger and being in awe. The world that Lewis had created was so rich and so detailed that it felt extremely real to me; it felt organic. As a writer, I actively strive to emulate this effect. I want my readers to feel as though they’ve been transported to Acu—the fictional realm in which “Capering on Glass Bridges” is set. I want them to feel immersed in this world.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
“Capering on Glass Bridges” is a fantasy-adventure novel. It was born from an idea that I had while in high school. Over the succeeding years, I developed this idea considerably, and I often spoke with my mother about the fantastical world that I sheltered in my mind. It was she who encouraged me to write about it. As the end of my final semester in college approached, I made the decision to do as she suggested; I told myself that, upon graduation, I would finally pen the novel that had been floating about in my head for ages.

My novel is currently—and permanently—available for free download. To get your copy, simply go to Smashwords, Kobo, or iBooks. Here’s my book’s blurb:

The Utdrendans have spoken, and everything has changed as a consequence. People normally avoid the fog surrounding the cursed Kingdom of Mar, but now they are asking sixteen-year-old Kaia Stone to venture into it. The Utdrendans implied that there is something special about Kaia. They claimed that she could help free the land; she need only carry out their instructions and deliver a message to the Marian king.

Mar, however, is a land in which dark secrets abound, and many will stop at nothing to ensure that it remains forever cursed. Determined to work against Kaia, unfriendly forces have already begun to gather.

Will Kaia choose to abandon the only life she’s ever known—perhaps indefinitely—in pursuit of the greater good…in pursuit of her purpose?

KimAlexanderFeatured Interview With Kim Alexander

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m from Long Island originally but spent my growing-up years in South Florida. I went to the University of Miami and then spent about ten years in Key West. Now I live in DC, right behind the zoo. I can hear lions and monkeys from my apartment–my cats Leeloo and Onion find this very confusing.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I don’t remember not being fascinated with books. And I’ve been writing almost as long as I’ve been reading. For many years, I worked in radio, so I wrote commercial copy, comedy, essays and interview shows. I’ve only written long-form fiction for a few years, it was quite liberating not having to stop at :60.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read a lot of fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction. I’m obsessed with the Middle Ages and the 14th century. I have too many favorite authors to list here, but love Anne Rice, Katherine Neville, Helene Wecker, Frank Herbert and Clive Barker. I ended up writing the kinds of books I love to read; long, immersive, and character driven. I had Dune in the back of my head while writing The Sand Prince, although my book is fantasy and not science fiction. I still think Herbert’s world building is some of the best ever written.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My current project is a four part epic fantasy series called The Demon Door. I began working on it about three years ago.
Book One is called The Sand Prince. I got to create two very different societies–one human, one demon–and then find out what happens when they interact. I’m much more interested in politics and manners and etiquette than battles, and the more I write, the more I discover about Mistra, the human world, and Eriis, the demon realm. I’m also interested in language. Words that are considered ‘dirty’ tell you so much about what a group of people think is important. Many of the words in the demon language have more than one meaning–for instance, the word rushta means something abundant but of no value, it also means sand, and it also means shit. The title of the book is actually an insult aimed at my hero, the half-human demon prince Rhuun. He grows up not knowing he is of mixed heritage, he only knows he looks very different than the rest of his people, and he doesn’t have their natural abilities, which the humans call magic. He self-medicates his social anxiety with alcohol, and spends his time dreaming of visiting the human world, which is strictly forbidden. (Of course, he gets to go–that’s not a spoiler!)

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Dina Spaniotis. I’m one hundred percent Greek and I’m trilingual . I was born and raised in Kensington CT. I still live in Kensington, a beautiful peaceful town. I have a 4-year-old dog named Brandy who I love dearly. She’s my companion through the good and bad.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was around 10 years old when I realized my fascination with books. My parents were always working so I was raised by my grandparents . My grandfather was the one that inspired me the most. He passed away in Greece 12 years ago and the day after his death I realized how he truly inspired me and that I’m taking after his footsteps . He was a poet and a journalist in Greece during World War 2. His passion and escape was writing and reading. He taught me a lot about it at a young age. From that point, I always read and wrote. I would remember burying myself in my notebooks all throughout school. English and writing were my best subjects. I officially wrote my first book when I was 17, and just set it aside.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Steven King, James Patterson, Tess Gerritsen and Amy Cross. I’m open to reading all genres, but the ones I favor the most are paranormal and horror . I love all things horrific , dark, and mysterious. Steven King and Amy Cross inspire me the most. They are both horror authors and I just love being sucked into their dark twisted stories. I like to mix up my writing and add many elements in them because I don’t only focus on horror. I believe a good paranormal and horror story needs to have some mystery and romance as well as darkness. Both authors inspired me to go beyond my limits and comfort zone and to not be afraid.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The title of my latest book is Drakos Return, kingdom rising. It’s book 3 of my Drakos return series. I finished writing it in less than 3 months. In order for any reader to understand this series, they must read book 1 and 2 first. It’s a paranormal book and has hints of action, horror, and romance. Drako is a vampire King from
England, in which he and his wife Lucretia held a special antidote by an ancient God. This antidote brought immortality and everlasting health to all who drank it. It was a miracle drink for all. Drako wanted to replicate it for the whole world but his wife disagreed . They had a daughter named Victoria who was born a psychic vampire because Lucrecia was one. Victoria was kidnapped by Drakos prince, Claude. Claude envied Drako and wanted to be the king. Aside from taking Victoria, Claude also stole the antidote and went to settle in America. He came across a human family who wanted a child of their own. They adopted Victoria for an exchange to hold on to the antidote close. Drako was on the hunt to find his daughter and Claude approached Victoria when she was 25 years old. There was something mysterious about Claude and her psychic abilities were open once she saw him. She slowly came to see him more and she realized that his presence had no good intentions.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My husband comes from a large and loving family of nine children, and they were the inspiration for the Adler Family Series. I’ve always been an avid reader of love stories, and my passion for romance found another outlet when I discovered how much fun it was to write about my own smart and sexy heroes and heroines.

I am also an ardent and devoted student of personal development. Weaving the life changing principles that guided me to the love of my life and to a happy marriage is an important aspect of all of my books.

I was born in Louisiana, but grew up and still live in Michigan. Maggie is a well-loved and spoiled kitty, who thinks she owns the place. Feeding the birds outside is fun for everyone in the family – including Maggie.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination with books started even before I could read. My mother used to say that I memorized my favorite story books so I could pretend to “read” along with her as she turned the pages. I’ve been writing my whole life, but my being published is a possible because of this wonderful new age of Kindle Direct Publishing and other wonderful author sites.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Jill Shalvis, Bella Andre, Marie Force, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Mallery, Nora Roberts
Contemporary romance.
My family and friends.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
“Should I Stay or Should I Go ~ Connor & Gina, The Adlers Book 4”
It’s time for Connor, the youngest of the nine Adler children, to grow up. After spending his youth as an irresponsible screw-up, Connor is finally starting to get his life together. He’s in business for himself and things are going pretty well. When he meets Gina Giamanti, it’s lust at first sight! The Italian bombshell is only in the United States on a ninety-day visa. Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
After being born on an Air Force Base during Vietnam, my family came home to Concord, North Carolina. I’m a Southern girl whose been mostly raised in my beautiful hometown near Charlotte. I have developed a deep love and admiration for history, great books, travel, music and animals. I’m passionate about writing. As a missionary kid, I had the unique opportunity to meet many people and live in 2 other countries, Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as a number of states all over America. Fortunately, we returned to my hometown, where I also have had the benefit of a strong base of family and friends for which I am thankful for. I am blessed that many of them live within miles of my home. I share my life with my best friend and soulmate, Chris, and have 2 beautiful daughters, Ashlyn and Kelsey. I’ve even been blessed that my eldest has given me the most adorable granddaughter I could ever have hoped for. My furbaby, Max, is a 120 lb white German Shepherd who loves to keep me company as I write and is always jealous of any attention I give to anyone else.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve loved to read since I was in elementary school, but I was much older before I actually started a career as a dedicated writer. For over 20 years, I have built my career in marketing, advertising and publishing, however for a majority of that time, I have functioned as a graphic designer or marketing professional. About 10 years ago, I began to focus more on editing other authors’ books, as well as some periodical writing. However, I didn’t realize my true passion for writing until about 5 & 1/2 years ago when I began working with Karen Vance Hammond in co-authoring our award-winning, paranormal mystery thriller, “Secrets in the Shallows” (Book 1, The Monastery Murders). When she was unable to continue working with me to write the second book, “Devil in the Details” (Book 2, The Monastery Murders) due to family obligations, I took up the mantle on my own and pressed forward. I was thrilled when Books 1 and 2 won the 2015 and 2016 Paranormal Awards, respectively. Currently, I am writing the last book in the trilogy, “Method in the Madness” (Book 3, The Monastery Murders).

My writing will not stop there. At this time, I have approximately 15 years of projects planned, including an epic prequel series that may take an additional 10 years to complete. I also plan on writing a screenplay for the first trilogy, in addition to working on multiple film projects with Chris. Eventually, I plan on diversifying into additional genres, including other dark fantasies and maybe even some sci-fi. Since discovering my passion for writing fiction, I have entered in the most rewarding and satisfying part of my career to date. One of my greatest rewards is for readers to thoroughly enjoy my books, in which I have invested so much of my time, talents and energy.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy a variety of book genres, although I find my personal reading time to be rather depleted at the moment, due to life obligations and writing my upcoming novel. My favorite genres include horror, paranormal thrillers, mysteries and fantasy, although I have many others I enjoy, depending on my mood. Some of my favorite authors include Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, R.A. Salvatore and Richard Knaak, although I must admit that King is one of my strongest influences. I have over 40 books stored on my Kindle, waiting to be discovered, once I have a little more time. (I’m not kidding!) My ultimate dream is to be able to quit my day job and write full-time.

In my own writing style, I have developed an eclectic mixture with combines Alfred Hitchcock’s suspense, Agatha Christie’s mystery and Stephen King’s horror. My current series is a true whodunit and I LOVE to use cliffhangers. Some of my favorite chapters to write feature paranormal activity or horrifying dreams. Although my books definitely keep my readers on the edge of their seats and turning the pages, I am proud that I have managed to maintain a PG-13 level in regards to sexual content and foul language. Violence is to be expected in murder mysteries, but by utilizing a Hitchcock-esk approach, I have succeeded in avoiding the worst of the violence. By using creative suspense combined with feeding the reader’s imagination, I truly believe I have been able to balance the essence of horror in a way that I have not reduced my standards.

I also love to draw the reader into the story so that they feel like that are a part of it. I like to call it “writing up close and personal.” I allow the characters’ senses, feelings and thoughts to dominate the story, which enables my readers to be able to look inside of the characters and feel like they know them. When a reader says that they feel like my characters are so real that they feel they could pick up the phone and call them, then I have accomplished one of my primary goals.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Phuket, Thailand, inside a Christian missionary group. Due to our charity work, we moved often, and I grew up hopping all over the Thai country. Now I’m seventeen and settled in Bangkok. I spend my time studying, working as a receptionist, saving up for novels and spending entirely too much money on tasty baked goods.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
That’s hard to say, but I know I loved reading by the time I was three years old. Writing came several years later, and I started writing long, complicated stories when I was eight or nine years old. One of them involved a golden key, monsters, a dragon, a princess’s servant, and a mischievous squirrel. That story was about two hundred pages long.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors of all time would be Ray Bradbury, Suzanne Collins and Cassandra Clare. I’m drawn to fantasy fiction, but actually really like children’s literature. I find it the funniest and easiest books to read.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I wrote ‘The Doorway’ when I was sixteen years old, and got a contract with Halo Publishing when I was seventeen. ‘The Doorway’ is a fantasy fiction novel about a monster, who creates a magical world where everything appears perfect. People enter this world by a doorway that only appears on Halloween, and are immediately attracted to this world. They are then faced with the choice of staying in the magical world behind the doorway, or returning to real life.

It took me three months to write the manuscript, and another three to edit it. It took another four months, working with Halo Publishing, to get it published as an ebook. It would have taken less time, if I hadn’t been so picky about the cover design. But my desire for perfection paid off, as the book cover, which I co-designed, won an Editor’s Choice badge from Teenink.com, and the artwork was recently featured in their May 2016 magazine.

Want to hear a funny story? I had one day before the deadline, when I had to send the book cover in to the production team. Being the ridiculous procrastinator that I am, I finished work, came home and worked four hours straight on the book cover (I had a designer sketch it, but I had the job of filling in all the color). I passed out from exhaustion afterwards, and woke up two hours later.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a totally blind 50 year old business owner, blogger, podcaster, coach, and twice self published author from Conroe Texas near Houston. I grew up in a family of carnival owners and was lucky enough to work in the business until my dad’s early death from lung cancer lead to the closure of our small family show. A health emergency forced me to reevaluate my life. I was treated for sleep apnea and started getting my energy and passion back. Later I had gastric surgery and lost over 250 pounds. While promoting my amusement equipment brokering company I was very active on face book and linked in. People told me I was an inspiration and persuaded me to start sharing my more personal life experiences through my new website the blind blogger. I wrote a motivational book called Leading You Out of the Darkness Into the Light a BLind Man’s Inspirational Guide to Success. It shares my journey, the lessons learned, and some exercises for people to complete and report on to me via email. I just finished my second book Its Not the Cookie Its the Bag where I am sharing the lessons learned and techniques adopted to lose the weight and keep it off. I love to sing and often sing during radio and TV interviews. I work with my mindfulness partner a greymation named penny. She is always there to remind me when its time to put down the laptop and start scratching those places she can’t reach. I love meetingg new people and making new friends and am always ready to answer your questions. As a successful business owner and author who happens to be blind I realize I’m going to get asked a lot of questions people don’t feel comfortable asking anyone else. So, I’ll tell you I would rather answer an awkward question than to have you make up your own answer. I have to correct a lot less myths that way. So, if you have a question; just ask!

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Five or six when I read Charlotte’s Web all by myself. It was great being able to go places in the pages of a book. But the attention from my family made that even sweeter. I started writing in middle school. Back then schools still insisted on teaching kids how to write. I had a natural talent for it and was encouraged. Like Holden Cawfield in Catcher in the Rye I’ve always been good at it. Its only been in the last seven years since starting my first blog that I was reminded just how much I love writing. People seem to think I’m a good story teller. I try to bring personal experiences into everything I write. I’m happy I can inspire, motivate, and entertain through my words.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read everything but westerns. I split my reading about 50 50 between fiction and nonfiction. I use the nonfiction like Joel Osteen, Joyece Meyers, Dr. Laura, Elizabeth Gilbert, Dr. Wayne Dyer and others to motivate me. I listen to them primarily while exercising. They are great when riding my bike that doesn’t go anywhere or walking on the treadmill. And I read authors like John Sandford, Faye Kellerman, Robert B Parker, Marsha Muller, Janet Ivanoviche, Joanne Fluke, Sandra Brown, J D Robb, Nora Roberts, Steven King, Tom Clansey, Clive Cussler and others when I need distraction. Sometimes a great story can move you forward more strongly than a self help book. And I say this as a personal development author. 🙂 Those stand up and cheer endings can make you go out and try harder. Those naturally funny scenes can make you feel your life isn’t as difficult as you think. And sometimes I have my best ideas when I turn my brain off and stop thinking about it for a while. I like to say sometimes your body wants a snickers bar and sometimes your mind and spirit want Stephanie Laurenz.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Its called Its Not the Cookie Its the Bag. I had gastric surgery in 2012 and lost over 250 pounds. What most people don’t know is only 50 percent of patients lose 80 to 90 percent of the weight they need to lose. The ones who succeed do so because they learn the new lessons and change their lives. I started learning and changing one small step at a time starting six months before I had the surgery. I think people need to realize that with any plan to lose weight and keep it off you have to make a lot of choices and changes. You have to find techniques that work for you and that will continue working for the rest of your life. So, I have chapters on subjects like making peace with for mirror, not being afraid of your scale, why food journals don’t usually work, exercise myths, putting good health on your schedule, importance of faith, value of your community, and improving your body and your life one small step at a time. I have high hopes for this book both for my future and for the health of so many people out there.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised about five minutes from where I live now, in Louisville, Kentucky. I used to have Cooper, a Labradoodle, but my ex-husband got him in the divorce. Now I get Cooper for an occasional visit, and I enjoy my granddogs Gage, a brown lab, and Arlo, a 240-pound English Mastiff. I also just got five fish for my pond. Does that count? I have a married son who lives close by and a son in college. I also have a cute boyfriend. Life is good.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always liked to read, but after a life-changing event in 2007, I began reading ALL THE TIME. I juggled mom-duty with my reading addiction for about two years. In August 2009, I started writing my first book.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love mysteries, especially Robert B. Parker, David Rosenfelt, Chris Knopf, Michael Connelly, and John Sandford. I think all the authors whose books I’ve read have influenced me, especially the ones I read in that crazed 2007-2009 reading period. They not only helped me escape reality, I believe they were preparing me for writing.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I started Rogues & Rascals during a time I was having trouble in my marriage. I knew I wanted my main character to be struggling too. Then I got a divorce, sold my house, and moved to a new house, which put the book pretty much on hold, especially after my house got flooded two months after I moved in. After the divorce process, I was so unhappy with lawyers, my ex-husband’s in particular, that I knew I wanted a lawyer in the mix. I had a lot of trouble getting back into the book. I waited out the writer’s block, and eventually the rest of the story came to me. Sometimes you just have to wait until your characters start talking to you again. It took me over a year to complete this book—but that was mostly thanks to the upheaval in my life at the time.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I live in Winston-Salem, NC, which is the location of my book “Abbey.” I’ve used several locations from Winston in the book, anyone who lives anywhere near here will be familiar with them all.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve written four non-fiction books (really just for my family and friends), but my mind wanted to wander and explore and enhance…so I wrote my first novel last year, titled “It’s Too Late To Die Young Now” and have just released my second novel called “Abbey.” This latest book does come with precautions however…. I must warn you, the love and passion and human emotions in this book may lead you to lie down helplessly on your couch and watch Lifetime movies all day…..are you willing to take that chance?

Let me know.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy good books. I like to be entertained. Whether that be by biographies, fiction, thrillers or whatever….I just like good writing.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
As I explained earlier, “Abbey” is a story of love —-not a love story. It’s a story that will humor you, make you wish for the passion that is displayed and ultimately force you to believe in what you never thought was possible. A love unending, ultimate and all-encompassing.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in a small town in Tennessee that you’ve never heard of. I still live in that same small town. People never knew anything about Bolivar other than it was home to the huge state mental institution. People still don’t know anything more than that.

I’m married to a great guy, and we have four pretty great kids and an adorable granddaughter. We’re owned by two mutts that we are happy to have as our family. We camp. We travel. We want to be beach bums when we grow up. That’s us. We’re the great family with the weird last name that nobody can remember or pronounce.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I always loved books. Before I could read, I loved someone to read to me. After I learned to read, I spent a great deal of time doing just that. As a kid, I was always sent to my room or told I couldn’t watch television as punishment. I never saw it as punishment. It was extra time to read in peace.

I read a lot to my granddaughter, and she has that same love of books. It makes me happy to see her so interested in books. My own children never had that same love of reading, and I am thrilled to see it pop up in the next generation of our clan.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I have eclectic tastes, and I will read almost anything. I’m a big fan of Stephen King and John Saul. I also like V.C. Andrews. The only genre that doesn’t excite me is romance. I’m not a big fan of sappy romance stories. Maybe it’s because I have enough romance in my life.

I would have to say Stephen King inspires me the most. His mind is twisted, but people love him and anxiously await his new releases. If he can reveal the dark depths of his sick mind, so can I. King is brilliant. He’s scary, but he is brilliant.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Takaani is my first horror novel. I had attempted horror before, but I was scared by just how dark parts of my mind could be. I finally realized it was a talent and started working on this book.

It took me a lot longer to write than it should have. My teenage son had some major health issues. Seven surgeries later, he’s fine, but I took off eight months in the midst of writing the book. I worried I wouldn’t be able to get back into the story. It took some time to get it building in my head again. After that, it came out with a plot twist that even I had not imagined. I think it came out better in the end, and I will never forget writing it.

I changed two of the character’s names near the end. I realized that I wanted to use Takaani as the name of the book. I just liked it. I had to change the name of two characters to make that work, and I had to remember the name changes while I wrote the ending. It was a bit awkward, because the other character was still Takaani to me.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started reading as a kid and fell in love with comic books and paperback novels and picture books. as a teenager. I wanted to be a comic book artist, but my artistic skills are somewhat lacking. I started writing stories so I would have something to draw. Eventually, that morphed into me writing for other artists and eventually being hired to write by publishers. Then, one day I declared that I was going to write a novel. It’s been full speed ahead since then.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
This could be a mighty long list. authors whose work I enjoy and who inspire me include Michael Connelly, Alex Kava, Beau Smith, Jonathan Maberry, Gail Simone, John Hartness, Ed Brubaker, and so many more. I like to read thrillers, crime, suspense, sci fi, action, adventure, pulp, generally whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.

My most recent release is the SHERLOCK HOLMES/DOMINO LADY trade paperback collection published by Moonstone Books. Nancy Holder and I have been writing stories with Domino Lady and an elder Holmes teaming up and I was honored to add a brand new story to this collection. I love writing Domino Lady. She’s one of my favorite characters. I’ve resisted writing Sherlock Holmes in prose because I wasn’t sure I was the right writer for Holmes stories. Teaming him up with Domino Lady for an adventure helped to allay my fears a bit. Sherlock Holmes is one of those great characters that everyone knows. Writing him was a a daunting task.

This new trade paperback collection contains a brand new Domino Lady comic story, a brand new Holmes/Domino illustrated prose story by Bobby Nash, a Holmes/Domino Lady prose story by Nancy Holder with NEW illustrations, reprints Sherlock Holmes/Domino Lady issues#1 and 2,
and The Holmes Holiday Special story!

Delilah-AlvaresFeatured Interview With Delilah Alvares

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Al-Sabah, Kuwait. But, I grew up straddling between Kuwait and England.
I’ve now moved to New York, but still have my home in England.
It’s my secret haven, to which I escape to from time to time, whenever I feel the need for inspiration or sometimes, just plain serenity.

I started modeling a few years ago after winning a calendar model hunt and making it as a finalist at a national beauty pageant. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with photographers all around the world and to have walked the runway for big names across the globe as well.

But, about 2 years ago, I went through an exceptionally dark phase and it ended me in the cruelest way possible. I call it an intimate darkness that I never saw coming. Worse still, I never knew ‘when’ or ‘if’ I’d ever find a way out of it.
Truth be told, I did face quite a trying time while growing up. I grew up knowing that darkness is an old friend to me. But this time, it actually got to me.
That was when I moved to New York and this city showed me a world that was so much bigger and brighter than I ever imagined, fading the past to the background. New York made me find me, while fixing me up and luring me out of the dark.
I’ve now started to see life from a new perspective, in light of a new beginning.

Although getting published in New York was no easy task, I kept stubbornly powering through until I got my manuscript published.
I even made my comeback into the modeling world with a photo shoot in Florida that was in support of ‘Save the Wild’ wrapped in nothing but a Burmese Python that was about 13 feet long and weighed a ton! But, it was an absolute pleasure to have worked with that friendly python and the entire crew.

As for pets, yes, I do have two absolutely adorable dogs.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Writing creative stories and clicking pictures was a fascination that dawned upon me very early on in life.
I was barely nine years old when I developed the skills of planning and writing full length creative stories. I must have been about twelve when I co-wrote and acted in my first theatrical play.

It was through theater, that I started being recognized as an actor. I then ventured into TV shows, short films, music videos and guest appearances in feature films.

Obviously, I didn’t progress as a writer ever since I stepped into the modeling world but I kept nurturing the spirit and passion of a writer.

And through the darkest period of my life, my closest companion had been my manuscript, which although fictional, has been fabricated from my personal experiences and emotions. It’s now a record of almost everything that transpired in my life so far.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
J.K.Rowling takes the crown on that one.

Mystery or comedy would be my preferred genre. Sometimes you need a bit of life’s challenges to endure. Else, life as we know it, would be pretty much boring. And sometimes, just to maintain your sanity, you need to tip the scales towards some light comedy.

For this book, my biggest inspiration has been my mother, who loved reading mystery/romance novels and always dreamed of writing one herself. But, she passed away before she even began to do it. She had this idea that a novel should appeal to people on every level – mystery, romance, action and humor. And that’s exactly what I bring to you with this novel.
So, in a huge way, this is me fulfilling her dream for her and I hope she is as proud of it as I am.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Maze (Dark Shadows) is a New York City based crime fiction novel with a psychological hook, leaving you trapped, haunted, and questioning everything you have ever come to know.
With gruesome murders, strong characters, thrilling action, haunting suspense, relatable emotions, new age romance, witty humor, unforeseen twists and turns; it has something gift wrapped for all kinds of readers.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in 1972, in Reykjavik, Iceland, where I lived until age thirty-seven. In 2010, I moved with my family to Texas after we found out – through a series of serendipitous events – that my wife had been a US citizen from birth, without knowing it. The chain of events was so incredible that it lead me to write a memoir titled “You Can’t Have the Green Card” documenting the process for posterity.

Since 2001, I have written more than twenty nonfiction books. My debut novel was published by Flaming Leaf Press in April, 2016.

I live in a small town south of Austin, with my wife, two children, and six year old Border Collie-Lab mix named Quinn.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been fascinated with books ever since I learned how to read. I remember reading as many Morgan Kane and Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books as I could get my hands on.

My first attempt at writing came when I was nineteen. I was a singer in a rock band and we needed some lyrics. During a three year period I wrote lyrics and short stories almost every day, but alas, my lifestyle got in the way.

After I quit drinking in 1999, I exclusively wrote self-developmental books, but rekindled my love affair with fiction in 2015.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My two favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut and Ken Wilber. The two could hardly be more different. Vonnegut is a satirical novelist, while Wilber is an integral and spiritual philosopher, yet both have informed my style of writing to some degree.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My debut novel was published by Flaming Leaf Press on 4.4.16. It is titled The Meditating Psychiatrist Who Tried to Kill Himself. It is about a therapist, named Robert Davis, who is called in as a consultant to a mental hospital in Austin, TX. The patient is suicidal, a psychiatrist who has been meditating for thirty years, says that his meditation practice was part of the reason why he tried to kill himself. The encounter sets Robert off on a quest for answers; a quest that eventually threatens everything he holds dear, his marriage, his sobriety, his therapy practice, even his sanity.

So far, the book has gotten good reviews. Readers appreciate the character development, the fast paced action, the meaning of life questions unearthed in the process, and how it captures modern day culture.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’ve lived all over the world. My father was in the Royal Air Force and we traveled with him wherever he was sent.
As a teenager, I lived in South Africa, and my best friend and I discovered the novels of Kathleen E Woodiwiss when we were thirteen. We used to spend our evenings writing books in the style of ‘The Wolf and the Dove’.
When I had a big birthday (let’s just say it had a zero at the end) two years ago and my friend gave me an amazing present. She had kept one of the books I wrote when I was fourteen! It’s a medieval romance, written in felt tip pen. I’m very proud of it and it gave me the push I needed to start submitting my work to publishers.
Now I live in Cheshire, which is a very beautiful part of England.
I am married with tow grown up children. I don’t have any pets (my lovely cat passed away recently) but I’m grandparent to my daughter’s crazy dog.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been a reader and a writer. I write in a variety of romance genre including paranormal, historical, gothic and romantic suspense. Within each of those, I can trace my writing roots back to the great authors I’ve read.
Take historical romance…I was ten when I read ‘Murder Most Royal’ by Jean Plaidy and I was instantly hooked on British and European history.
At the age of twelve, I discovered a tattered Georgette Heyer novel on my mum’s bookshelf. I devoured it in a day and I was spellbound. It was ‘These Old Shades’, which is set in the mid-1700s. As much as I love Regency novels, I find myself drawn to the earlier Georgian era. I think it’s because the characters have more opportunities to misbehave. It was a scandalous time (think of the film Dangerous Liaisons) and I love the fashions! Give me a hero in a cloak and a powdered wig any day.
I am captivated by the way great writers of historical romance use dialogue to skilfully set the scene. I also love it when the historical setting is so real it becomes another character, transporting you effortlessly back in time.
I was fourteen when I wrote my first book. I lived in South Africa and my best friend and I had just discovered ‘The Wolf and the Dove’ by Kathleen E Woodiwiss. We spent every evening writing our own Norman hero/Saxon heroine novels. I still have a copy of that book! It is hand written in felt tip pen..
Fast forward several (well, okay, many!) years. I’ve continued to write as a hobby, but real life took over. I’m married and I have two grown up children and a full time career.
Anyway, remember the friend I used to write with in South Africa? She told me to just get on with it and get a book published. I’m never one to refuse a challenge, so I did just. My first three books were historical romances set in the Georgian era. I call them my ‘Georgian Rebel’ series.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love gothic romance, both to read and to write. I feel it’s an underrepresented genre, one that needs an advocate (I’m happy to be that person!).
Gothic romance is a melodramatic style of writing that originated in 18th century England in the tortured imaginations of writers including Horace Walpole and Ann Radcliffe. Soaring castles, dark dungeons, ghosts, murderers, eerie secrets, kidnap, incest, rattling chains, mad monks…some, or all, of the above feature in the best examples of the genre.
Many of the plots of later gothic romances followed a similar theme to the classics such as Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca or Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. A young woman who is all alone in the world goes to live in a creepy old house owned by a mysterious man with dark secrets. Once she gets there she is terrorised by a series of unexplained events, and must find the courage to solve the mystery, usually discovering that the man who appears to want to harm her is, in reality, a damaged soul who she can save with her love.
Reading, and writing, in the gothic style allows us an outlet for our darkest imaginings. From the safety of our armchair, we can accompany the gothic heroine as, clad in a clinging white nightdress, with only a single candle to light her way, she climbs the creaking stairs to discover just what those strange noises in the attic actually are.
In the best gothics, a sense of menace pervades each part of the story, because every character has secrets. We suspect them all. Our heroine’s life is constantly in danger, yet she has to stay in the crumbling mansion or spooky castle. She must find out who is trying to kill her young charge or uncover the mystery of the first wife who haunts her marital home.
The more of the story she unravels, the greater the tension. The hero behaves in a strange and often churlish manner and we are repeatedly invited to question his motives. He has dark secrets, yet our heroine, who we have come to love, is irresistibly drawn to him. Can she/we have got him all wrong?
One of the best things about a well written gothic is the atmosphere. Picture our heroine in her flimsy gown, nervous but determined as she enters the forbidden abandoned wing, or tiptoes down the stairs to the dungeons, climbs the ladder to the attic full of cobwebs and moth-eaten furnishings, running from the house in terror toward the clifftop… We’ve all seen those scenes in horror films. We’ve all shouted at the screen “Don’t go into the attic!” and shivered with a combination of pleasure and terror when our heroine ignores us.
Gothic romances have been crying out for a revival. Our heroine was due an injection of feistiness. The gender tables had to be turned. The sensuality that was hinted at by Victoria Holt, Mary Stewart, Barbara Michaels and their contemporaries needed to be made explicit.
Rising out of the mist of the old gothics, a new brand of romance has arrived. Stories with mood and atmosphere, mystery and fantasy…and romance to makes you shiver.
You may feel the need to check under the bed when you’ve finished burning the midnight oil after reading a Jane Godman story. You have been warned…

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Otherworld Protector is a paranormal romance set in the mystical realm of Otherworld.
I’m fascinated by the ancient Celtic idea of an ‘otherworld’ that is situated, not in some distant, unknown region of planetary space, but here on our own earth just out of sight and within our grasp (if we really believe in it and want it enough). The Otherworld of my imagination is a beautiful place inhabited by many races, including faeries, vampires, lycanthropes, phantoms and gods. Unfortunately, the constant battles between these warring dynasties threaten to spill over into the mortal realm.
Otherworld Protector is the story of what happens when Stella, an ordinary girl, gets caught up in the fight for Otherworld. Of course, this is a romance (a very steamy one!) and, since she is watched over by an invisible protector, Stella may not be quite so ordinary, after all.
Within this story there is a familiar figure, one I’ve always wondered about. Was the great sorcerer Merlin real or legend? I like to think he existed. Perhaps, when you’ve finished reading Otherworld Protector, you will think so too.
Otherworld Protector is the first book in this series, so there will be more opportunities to cross the boundary and meet the compelling heroes who protect Otherworld soon!
While writing this book I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I’m one of the lucky ones. My tumor is low grade and slow growing. This book is dedicated to my fellow brain tumor fighters and those who care for and support us.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Buenos Aires, in the neighborhood of Núñez, on street Manuela Pedraza. There I spent my childhood until age 10, when we had to move to my father died. I made the elementary school: Juan Andrés Gelly Obes, made a double shift. I also did high school at the Carlos Pellegrini Institute, located in Pilar. I studied music, guitar and piano, but found I had no talent for it, and that what interested me was writing songs, but really what drove me was to write itself. A child always influences people and their personality. His relationship with his parents, the environment, neighborhood, education, always involved in their future, their vocation, even your destination. One of the greatest experiences was touring Argentina backpacking with some friends. There I learned the values of the people, and the possibility of being at the mercy of climate, living without money or even the solidarity of the people. We created with a group of fellow students a literary group during the period of the dictatorship, and we published a mimeographed some stories and poems; but only we get the first number, then they censured us and took away the mimeograph. The group continued in several stages, while working in economics, then a municipal library and finally on social networks. It was an experience that did the job and reached the end of its life cycle. Then I started teaching staff and the way of teaching. All experiences are a summation of emotions and reflections tuning us and manifest itself in what we do. And of course the economy will influence the welfare of a child and the development of their concerns. I live in Europe eleven years ago; I lived in Italy and am now in Spain, where I finished my doctoral studies at the Complutense University of Madrid. The cultural variety is relevant to those who believe, change the rigid view of certain values, or learn new ways. Adaptation to the environment, observation of different cultures, including food, enriches and expands our overview increasing our understanding. No, I don’t have pets. The animals have to live in freedom.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I am an avid reader. I read the classics in my teens, and I always had three or four books on my shelf that I read at times. A book is a very powerful tool; a person who has read is a polished, educated and modifies its behavior in society. It is therefore important to read and understand what you read, and do analysis of what is read. A book can change moods, and it is very dangerous not read because the word means uncultivated uncultured, is as barren land, which does not give outbreaks. The books will change format or form, but never disappear. Begin writing was intuitive to learn music because then I began to sketch out songs, but in my head already circulating philosophical, literary or reflective concepts. At 15, I wrote an essay about human evolution and at 18 he had already written some songs. Learn literature helped me to develop some poems that added to the experience of love were leaving me the inspiration for my first book halo “Versos Encamotados” I published in 1990 in the Filofalsía publishing, and today is on its 3rd. Edition. Just as reading, writing is an internal manifestation, Borges said: “a writer is primarily a reader.” The need to say something, to convey a message, to express an emotion, or as Joseph Brodsky said. “… Leave a footprint on the earth”.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I have read many authors and each and each have left their message, some literary sequel, and learning. Franz Kafka considers the best storyteller, with fantastic mix of ontology; Ray Bradbury Science fiction is imagination; Lovecraft terror is very influential; although Poe is also upstairs. In existential poetry, Whitman is a great author; Romantic poetry as Shakespeare is the most imitated; Bécquer also is important. Gibran is an ontological author, and social poetry Rafael Alberti and González Tuñón marked difference in their prose would answer. Without neglecting to Dostoyevski or Chéjov, or Rumi and Ítalo Calvino. There are also new authors, unknown, unread, and many works never edited. I think you have to read everything you can at least know that there are cased or works not widespread. It is amazing to think that there are countries in the world banning books in this era of communications and social networking. That explained in the book “Comunicación and Censura”, where I express the reasons for censorship, causes and consequences. Therefore all reading will be helpful, leave their mark and tell us something that the author has tried to demonstrate.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I have two closest to publish books: “Coaching Educativo” and “La sutileza de la luz”. Although I have always educational nature books to publish. Educational Coaching is a book that is essentially about educational processes currently applied in places where education is no longer using Taylorist methods, where there is taught by rote, repeating like a parrot, but, as taught Robert Gagné in his table learning- learning to think from a scientific conceptualization. Survivals in this time of Homo sapiens depend heavily on general education on the planet. That they are still used archaic systems, the era of mass communication, when the idea of a single man or leader was imposed without further ado. And human evolution will depend on the overall change in educational processes. Remember there was a time-not long ago-that primary education did not exist, and only learned by generational transmission, from parents to children. The subtlety of light prose a book that talks about human knowledge, existentialist, scientific, and grounds for the presence of man in the universe is. It is a collection of poems and short reflections, which point to an objective direction where man’s search to a single evolutionary destiny is its philosopher’s stone. There will be other books to disclose and written to keep doing, creating and publishing. Thank you for the interview.
