The Clash Inside Me

About The Clash Inside Me:

THE CLASH INSIDE ME opens with a young man perched on a ledge and contemplating an unusual predicament: did he or did he not commit murder? And if he did, which of his alter-personalities will ultimately be held responsible?

The young man, who remains nameless throughout the tale, recounts the story of his life and the diagnosis of his mental illness –dissociative identity disorder – with refreshing candor. Speaking directly to the reader, he describes his personal history in a manner that is both relatable and engaging. Despite the obvious disadvantages of coping with multiple personalities, he is not a victim of his circumstances. He is a survivor with expectations of a bright future, including a tender romance. There are moments of fear and anguish, but his is not a story of despair; rather it is a tale of ongoing courage to define oneself while coping with a serious mental illness.

His ability to manage the alter egos is put to the ultimate test when he witnesses a drug deal gone wrong and one of his personalities seeks immediate revenge. Observing his handling of the alters in the aftermath provides an utterly unique view of a baffling condition. And just when we believe that we have a true understanding of the situation, a devious reveal in the final chapter leaves the reader questioning the veracity of all that has come before. An open-ended conclusion allows the reader to complete the tale for themselves.

The inspiration for this book is to promote awareness and treatment of mental health, bullying, and emotional depression in young adults. Having watched a dear one struggle, John encourages young people to SPEAK OUT and SEEK HELP. The stigma around these illnesses is lifting, and help is readily available. Do not be silent any longer.

Journeys: the Archers of Saint Sebastian

About Journeys: the Archers of Saint Sebastian:

A barracks full of beautiful boys. A girl in disguise, living among them.
It’s the 14th century, and 15-year-old Marieke is as obsessed with the archers’ guild of Saint Sebastian as everyone else in Ardennes. Here twelve of the best and most beautiful young Journeyman archers compete every year for a coveted spot on the prince’s bodyguard. But when Marieke is forced to flee to the guild for refuge, there are only two things she really knows about the place. One is that a mysterious accident ended her own father’s chances as a Journey. The other? There are no women allowed inside Saint Sebastian’s.
Disguising herself as a boy to infiltrate the guild means embarking on a dangerous deception. But it may be Marieke’s only chance to find out the truth about her father’s past, and when the charming Journeyman Tristan takes her under his wing as his squire, she’s got to stay – at least long enough to help him find a way to beat his brutal arch-rival and win the competitions. Soon she’s set herself a virtually impossible task: to see Tristan become the next Guardsman, without ever letting him find out she’s a girl – a girl, who loves him.

Part Robin Hood and part Princess Bride, with a pinch of Mulan and a dash of Cyrano de Bergerac in the mix, The Archers of St. Sebastian I: Journeys is a humorous action and adventure saga inspired by late medieval/early Renaissance Belgium and packed with romance, wit, and longbow archery. Perfect for adults who love young adult stories and for older teens looking for an immersive, character-driven read, Journeys is an escape into the past that reads more like romantic historical fantasy than pure historical fiction.

Unrequited love? Ugly heroines who stay ugly? Friendship, coming of age, romance, adventure, and plenty of archery competitions? A unique setting inspired by the glorious city of Bruges, with a richly imagined world set within the walls of a male-only archers’ guild? Journeys: The Archers of Saint Sebastian has it all, so if you’re looking for a great escape, don your disguise and join Marieke as she enters the forbidden world of Saint Sebastian’s, and prepare to fall in love with the Journeys – that is, the twelve best and most beautiful archers in all of Ardennes, the Journeyman archers of St. Sebastian’s.

Before: Jared’s Story by Gina Detwiler

About Featured Book: Before: Jared’s Story by Gina Detwiler

PREQUEL TO THE FORLORN SERIES…
Before Jared met Grace, he had lived several lifetimes of heartbreak, struggle, loneliness, and sometimes joy. His father tried to kill him, and his family shunned him for an original sin he didn’t truly understand until he came face to face with true evil and discovered the demon within himself.

Born in the mid-nineteenth century to a family of itinerant circus performers, Jared didn’t understand why his body grew so slowly or why his parents were ashamed of him and tried to hide him from the world. Through the years he discovered more disturbing things about himself—his unusual strength, the way his body healed with remarkable speed, and the “shadow people” who whispered dark and terrible things in his ear. Only music seemed to subdue their wicked urgings, and the prayers of his mother, the one person in his life who had loved him.

He soon came to understand that he was a danger to the world, and it would be better if he left it alone. But the more he tried, the more he was drawn into a whirlwind of darkness and evil from which he couldn’t escape.

The Casebook of Sir Pendleton Stormsnout: The Gypsy’s Gleaming Eye by Robert Feol

The Casebook of Sir Pendleton Stormsnout: The Gypsy’s Gleaming Eye by Robert Feol

“Sir Pendleton Stormsnout: Legendary Detective and Seeker of Adventure.”

So reads the sign that hangs by the entrance of the palatial estate that lies on the outskirts of the sleepy hamlet known as Mouseling Hollow. For most mice, hanging such a sign outside their place of business would be sheer arrogance – a sure sign that they were either puffed-up braggarts intoxicated with their own boastfulness, or vainglorious charlatans seeking to separate the innocent from their hard-earned coin.

But Pendleton Stormsnout is most certainly not ‘most mice.’ Far from it…

For Pendleton Stormsnout, the sign that hangs outside his stately manor house is merely a simple declaration of fact – for he is both a legendary detective, and a lifelong seeker of adventure. Over the course of many seasons, the tales of his exploits have spread far and wide throughout the entirety of King Teegan’s Far Collective. The rumors say that Pendleton Stormsnout is a prodigy – a virtuoso – a ‘renaissance mouse’ in the truest sense of the phrase. They say that his powers of observation and deduction are unparalleled. That he can out-think the most distinguished scholars from the University at Old Town, out-fight the greatest champions from the Black Baron’s infamous Arena, and out-drink the thirstiest scalawags in Captain Redfur Tumblefox’s fabled Wrecking Crew. Some even whisper that he sets a finer dinner table than his neighbor, the beloved chef and innkeeper Robert Teague.

When The Feldenspar Daily is granted a rare interview with the famous detective, it quickly dispatches a pair of journalists eager to learn the truth about Sir Pendleton Stormsnout. Is he really as sharp as they say? As learned? As daring? As sophisticated? Being no stranger to news stories that have been a bit…shall we say…exaggerated, the journalists arrive at his doorstep with two questions burning on their lips: has Sir Pendleton Stormsnout really done all the things he’s said to have done? And if so, what is the source of all his amazing abilities – how did he become the celebrated mouse that he is today?

As they question Stormsnout’s butler (and chronicler of sorts) Alfred, they will discover that the answers to their questions are both much greater – and far different – than they ever could have imagined…

Discover the answers for yourself in this, the first novella in the new Mouseling Hollow Chronicles series – featuring the origin story of Sir Pendleton Stormsnout, the breakout hit character from the internationally best-selling A Journey to Mouseling Hollow series!
