Sylvanus: The Promised One by R.P. O'Ryan
In the first of the series, Sylvanus: Rise of the Demon, Lucero and Dancing Elk enjoyed a brotherly bond, with Lucero known for his ability to cure illnesses. However, their relationship is shattered when the evil monarch Sceagga, masquerading as the Shaman Qualut, tricks Lucero into consuming large quantities of the dark pacú. This malevolent force, inherent within us all, leads to disastrous consequences.
Qualut’s transformation of Lucero into a monstrous demon results in his frenzied feeding, causing the deaths of thousands. Craving dominion over both realms, Lucero engages in a fierce battle with Dancing Elk and Shaman Tiglit, but they manage to drive him from their domain. However, victory is marred by tragedy as Lucero takes the life of Dancing Elk’s mate, Potwah, and curses his sister, Wrensong, leaving her in a beast-like state.
Dancing Elk, now burdened with grief and fueled by determination, confronts his ultimate challenge: to save his sister and his world. He must directly confront the darkness of Lucero’s legacy in order to lift Wrensong’s curse and put an end to Lucero’s reign of terror.
