Author Bio:
As a boy living on St. Thomas, Jonathan Ross learned to sail, then went on to explore the US and British Virgin Islands. A high point of his sailing days was crewing on CARYL, winner of the 1929 Seawanhaka International Challenge Cup. He hauled sails, took the wheel, and glimpsed the possibilities of ocean racing. On land in St. Thomas, he climbed rocks along the rough coast, stepped on sea urchins, and watched shooting stars on dark Caribbean nights. Years later, after service in the Navy, he laid his mother to rest in the Caribbean Sea outside of St. Thomas Harbor.
