SMART Objective Setting for Managers by Irial O'Farrell

Why is designing a SMART objective with someone else more difficult that designing your own SMART goal? How do objectives link to job descriptions? Is it really possible to design a SMART behavioral objective to develop someone’s communication skills or stakeholder management?

Find the answer to these, and many more, questions on using SMART, designing objectives, developing behavioral objectives, identifying the most effective objectives, preparing for and conducting objective setting meetings. The book also explores both the team member’s and the manager’s perspectives on performance and expectations.

Practical, concise, easy-to-read, while told using common examples most managers can relate to. If you manage people, this book is for you.

Author Bio:
Hi, I’m Irial and I love books and business. I’m a avid reader and yes, I read a lot of business books, but I also enjoy a good Michael Connolly or a laugh with Marian Keyes. I love working with clients to work out how to maximise their performance (business and people) or what is causing performance blockages. I’ve over 20 years experience in managing teams, designing and implementing performance management systems and training both managers and staff members on performance management.

I also love to write and every so often, the urge to write takes over and I just need to do it. I wrote my first book, Values – Not Just for the Office Wall Plaque: How Personal and Company Values Intersect, in 2011 (published 2012) and life took over for a bit. With covid hitting last year, I decided to use the time to write this book. I’m currently working on my third book – You’ve Got This – Empowering Your Team’s Problem Solving.
