WhiteSpace by Sean Platt

About Featured Book: WhiteSpace by Sean Platt

From the authors of the bestselling series, Yesterday’s Gone comes the roller coaster ride of a sci-fi serial thriller, WhiteSpace: Season One.

Hamilton Island looks like the perfect home. Maybe it would be, if it wasn’t filled with tomorrow’s nightmares…

The Puget Sound bedroom community has it all — beautiful homes with white picket fences, a thriving tech sector, and one of the best school systems in the state.

But not everything is as it seems.

People on the island go missing all the time.

Its residents are being watched.

And controlled.

When a school shooting rocks the quiet community Jon Conway returns home to make peace with his past and care for the daughter he never knew he had. When his daughter goes missing, he follows a broken trail of family secrets and betrayal that may just end him.

Cassidy Hughes has never been able to live in her twin sister’s shadow. Now that her twin is dead, Cass must overcome an addiction to pills to care for her niece. But she starts to remember something that happened long ago — something that is still happening on Hamilton Island today.

Milo Anderson was lucky to survive the school shooting. However, as he’s about to learn, the shooting wasn’t nearly as random as it seemed. And when someone reaches out claiming to know the truth, Milo is convinced he’s being watched. He also wonders how much his best friend, Alex, knows so much about the shooting.

WhiteSpace is a character-driven, mysterious, creepy, paranoid, sci-fi thriller that reads like the literary version of a televised serial with the mysteries of LOST and the future paranoia of Black Mirror. Read the whole series today.

The Blue Race

About The Blue Race:

Who will prevail in the struggle to control the Galaxy? Will it be the ruthlessly efficient Engus, or humanity’s AI-powered ConChain?

Heber Adogan and his sister Durvel are orphans from a near-extinct race of outcasts. They never asked to be made pawns in this galactic game of chess. It’s their unique telepathic ability that makes them so valuable. But it’s the same ability that turned their people into pariahs and led to a genocide, which all but wiped them out. Now their employers at humanity’s secretive Xeno Research Division want to exploit that ability again, to gain the edge over their Engus enemies.

The Engus have discovered clues to the location of a long-lost alien technology that seems certain to upset the balance of power in their favour. If Heber can’t stop them taking it, the very survival of humanity is at stake. To make matters worse, the clues point to a far-flung region of space that is jealously guarded by a reclusive race of inscrutable aliens. No outsider has ever succeeded in breaching it.

Worryingly, the Engus seem to have found a way in though. Can Heber slip through also, and make up lost ground against the enemy team who have gone ahead of them?

Join Heber and his comrades in a chase around the galaxy that turns into a frantic game of cat and mouse, as they try to get the upper hand against the aggressive aliens who massacred his people, and who now have all humanity in their sights.

Senan Mahon’s science-fiction thriller The Blue Race paints a vivid picture of humanity’s future in space, with original concepts that will appeal to fans of Iain M. Banks and Larry Niven.

THE BUSH CLINIC: Book I of The Tribal Wars by Stella Atrium

THE BUSH CLINIC: Book I of The Tribal Wars by Stella Atrium

In this series opener, Dr. Greensboro works with tribal women on Dolvia to resist the oppressive rule of Rabbenu Ely. She mentors Brianna Miller (after a fashion) but is disappointed when Brianna chooses to follow a colleague with hopes to jump back to Earth.

“Addressing fears of recreating oppressive traditions on other worlds, this space colonization novel is far more than standard sci-fi, it is a femme-led examination of our societal ills, and a celebration of the strength found through open-mindedness and sisterhood. With diverse narrative voices, remarkably detailed world-building, and a strong coming-of-age theme for characters and communities alike, this is a powerful start to a new series.” Self-Publishing Review

The Dying Party by Jeff R. Kelland

The Dying Party by Jeff R. Kelland

New Release launched on March 1st! “The Dying Party”, along with its prequel novella “Two of All People” (free and available everywhere), asks the question: ‘What happens when they tell us it’s too late to stop climate change; when we are forced to face a future that will be increasingly hellish, and an horrific end that will come within our lifetimes?’ The novel answers this question with two parallel story lines that alternate from chapter to chapter and eventually merge – one about how the poor will deal with the advancing crisis, and one about how the rich and powerful will fare.

The former story line, starting a few years earlier in the prequel, focuses on two main characters. It is late in the 2040s, and Lizzie and Donnie are two of only six people left alive in a residential complex that had been built into the side of Newfoundland’s Gros Morne mountain in the 2030s, now the only piece of habitable land left above water in all of what was once eastern Canada. In the second story line we follow a group of humanity’s richest and most powerful, the super-elite, as they try to establish an off-Earth colony for themselves.

“The Dying Party” explores in fascinating detail the complex brutality of what having to accept such a fate would mean for human civilization; what it would look like on a global scale, a local context, and from a variety of personal perspectives. The author’s extensive research shows that if we stay on our present course of inaction, confusion, and complacency, such a declaration will come sooner than we think. The thrust of the novel, however, is to illustrate the under-appreciated impact that passing the climate change tipping point will have on the human psyche; an impact that will further complicate and accelerate what is happening on a number of levels.

This is not fanciful speculation about the near and distant future, but rather the logical extension of the current course of humanity if we fail to up our game. The novel is a courageous, unflinchingly depiction of the worst-case scenario, with a measure of redemption, and is therefore a cautionary tale to end all cautionary tales.
