It’s northern England, late 1966, and ex-Inspector Tom Ramsay has almost decided to give up solving mysteries when a case that looks like a fun Treasure Hunt catches his eye. Some of the proceeds from an old jewel robbery have been found during a house clearance at an abandoned mansion and the owner of the clearing company asks for his help, particularly after she’s brutally attacked. Ramsay soon learns two people lost their lives hunting for this ‘treasure’ years before and now it seems more will follow if it isn’t found and the culprits brought to justice.
