Reality Check: Is the World What You Think? by Alex Altshuler

Reality Check: Is the World What You Think? by Alex Altshuler

How do we know what we know? How are the mind and body related? What does it mean to exist? These questions have intrigued humanity for millennia. Reality Check presents a unique fresh approach to unraveling these enduring puzzles and other complex questions about the world. Drawing on the latest advances in neuroscience, mathematics, and psychology, the book offers a pragmatic perspective for understanding our reality.

Reality Check is a short popular philosophy book written in simple and approachable layman language and will appeal to both, nonprofessional thinkers and practicing philosophers.

Readers may discover a novel methodology for understanding the world, gaining new perspectives on topics such as existence, factual truth, meaning, mind, determinism, artificial intelligence, and more. They can further apply the book’s central concept as a framework to clarify various complex issues.

It is commonplace that our actions and decisions are guided by our accumulated and organized prior life experiences that may be viewed as constituting our internal world model. While the exact neural mechanisms of this world model formation and access to it are not well understood yet, we can still examine our world model’s operational, rather than physical account. The first half of Reality Check (Chapters 1 through 3) suggests and defines basic functional building blocks of memory, nemes, and, based on widely available scientific data, advances a convincing hypothesis of how our world model is being formed, changed, and utilized over our lifetimes. The second half of the manuscript (Chapters 4 and 5) is devoted to applying this proposed framework as a robust basis for investigating various aspects of human civilization. Such subjects as existence, factual truth, meaning, mind, determinism, artificial intelligence, and many others are reappraised from this new perspective, often bringing unexpected outcomes.

The book will challenge readers to reassess their assumptions about the world and civilization.

The End of Meaning: Cultural Change in America Since 1945 by William A Sikes

The End of Meaning: Cultural Change in America Since 1945 by William A Sikes

Towards the end of the twentieth century books proclaiming the “closing” of America’s mind, the “collapse” of her communities, and the “end” of her art, literature, education and more, began appearing with regularity. The underlying theme in all such works is the loss of those experiences that give our lives meaning. In The End of Meaning: Cultural Change in America Since 1945, readers learn to recognize these experiences, realize how prominent they were in the postwar period (c. 1945–65), understand the forces that have brought about their extraordinary decline (in our families and communities, universities and religious institutions, films and popular music, fine arts, labor and more) and realize the implications of this loss for our society and our humanity. In doing so the book provides a way of thinking about a vital subject—one which, despite its enormous importance, has never been examined in a broad and systematic way capable of generating real understanding, discussion and debate.

Zephyr’s Flight by Ray Strong

Zephyr’s Flight by Ray Strong

A thousand years after the Chaos erased history, a rebellious village girl who sang with dragons rises to save her clan.

Astria’s only dream is to become a Dragon Rider, like her ancestors who once forced peace upon the Legions and the barbarian Hordes. But the enigmatic dragons have their own motives and leave Astria without a partner.
Until she meets Zephyr. And though crippled and flightless, she will not abandon him.
Fearing an ancient myth of the End Times, the Council of Elders forbids their partnership and threatens her with exile. Defiance risks death in the Wild and losing everything she’s ever known.
But peace is a lie—and the Hordes are closing in once more, embroiling Astria in a war between empires where only one person understands her desires: a warrior from another land.

From an award-winning author comes an exhilarating new fantasy series, where sacrifice and defiance collide in a battle for survival, and love may be the most dangerous risk of all.

“Smile for me, Malyshka.”

His voice cuts through me—silk wrapped around a blade.

Six years ago, Pavel Fetisov ruined me.
Now, I walk toward him in a wedding gown.

He doesn’t know about the daughter with his eyes.
Or the poison tucked inside my wedding bouquet.
This isn’t love.
It’s a brutal power play to merge two dynasties… and take down the man I swore killed my parents.

Pavel Fetisov.
Older. Colder. Deadlier than ever.
The man who took my virginity against a chapel wall… now slides a diamond onto my finger.

I’m supposed to poison him…
But his hands still know my body.
His mouth whispers the sins I swore to forget.
And when he touches me—I break.

Then the test turns positive. Again.
Now I’m drowning in secrets:
The daughter he’s never met.
And the life growing inside me.

Breast Cancer Is A MISDIAGNOSIS by Danny Carroll

Breast Cancer Is A MISDIAGNOSIS by Danny Carroll

“Breast Cancer Is a Misdiagnosis” is a groundbreaking and lifesaving book that courageously challenges conventional medical wisdom. The eye-opening insights provided by Danny Carroll unveil the biological nature of breast cancer.”
— Cindy Scott, stage 4 breast cancer survivor
“Everything Danny’s brilliant book lays out, and all I’ve learned about German New Medicine and Dr. Hamer’s incredible medical discoveries over the past year, has been the truth and freedom I’ve long been seeking. Finding, understanding, and applying GNM has been life-changing and, without a doubt, lifesaving.”
— Leona Morris, breast cancer survivor
“Breast cancer is not a malignant, iniquitous invader, but a reaction to stress or trauma. Danny’s work is meaningful and momentous in a world that is topsy-turvy and scores making profit above health. I am still here because of my knowledge of it. Please read it. It may just save your life or your loved ones.”
— Lisa Tomlinson, breast cancer survivor
“I cannot recommend this book more highly to anyone going through a breast cancer diagnosis or trying to make sense of a previous diagnosis. It is the best and most comprehensive piece I have yet to read on German New Medicine’s explanation of breast cancer.”
— Kimberlee Peifer, breast cancer survivor
Breast Cancer Is a Misdiagnosis explores the groundbreaking medical discoveries of a German physician named Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, whose discoveries are known as Germanic Healing Knowledge (Germanische Heilkunde in German), or German New Medicine.
In Dr. Hamer’s science, there is no such thing as “disease.” Biological changes are, in fact, survival programs that are designed to keep us alive, not harm us.
In 1978, two months after the untimely death of his 19-year-old son, Dr. Hamer was diagnosed with cancer of the testicle and stomach. He was given a one percent chance of surviving. Against all odds, Dr. Hamer survived.
In his late forties, and otherwise a healthy man, Dr. Hamer could not help thinking there must be a causal relationship between his son’s recent death and getting cancer in a reproductive organ.
He spent close to four decades and worked directly with over 50,000 patients. He estimated that when his medical discoveries surface, 95% of all symptomatic conventional and alternative medicine treatment protocols will become obsolete. This makes him a dangerous man in a multi-trillion-dollar industry.
When Tubingen University refused to test or verify Dr. Hamer’s medical discoveries against the law and a court order, the reason they gave in court was, “We do not want to know if Dr. Hamer is right or not.”
In Dr. Hamer’s medical science, the Germanic Healing Knowledge, there is no such diagnosis as breast cancer.
If you have been given a diagnosis of breast cancer, read this book to discover:
• Why your diagnosis is incorrect.
• A six-year study that resulted in 85% of cancer patients who refused medical treatment surviving.
• How to switch off excruciating pain like a light switch.
• A music therapy to place your disease on hold while you address its emotional origins.
• How Germanic Healing Knowledge therapy is possibly the only exception I have ever found to the rule, “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”

This book is the first in a 500+ book series, one book for each disease.

The Pharaoh’s Cat by Maria Luisa Lang

The Pharaoh’s Cat by Maria Luisa Lang

Suddenly talking and walking upright, a stray tomcat in ancient Egypt becomes the young Pharaoh’s intimate and, when accused of his murder, time travels to New York City and learns how to raise him from the dead.

The cat is quick-witted, wisecracking narrator as well as free-spirited, ever-curious protagonist, and the story he tells is an exotic, imaginative, spell-binding tragicomedy. The novel interweaves feline and human, past and present, natural and supernatural. It contains numerous surprises, twists and turns, intriguing characters, both human and animal, fascinating revelations about ancient Egyptian history and culture.

While exploring a looted tomb in ancient Egypt, the cat is kicked in the ass by the Vizier, the Pharaoh’s uncle and the second in power only to him. Able to speak as a result, the cat immediately gives voice to his intelligence and sense of humor and captivates the young Pharaoh, making him laugh for the first time since his parents’ death. The cat becomes the Pharaoh’s constant companion and, at the royal palace and on a tour of Egypt, participates in the festivities, developing an insatiable appetite for good food, wine, and gossip. Gradually, he renews the Pharaoh’s ability to enjoy life and inspires him to become a stronger leader. The bond of selfless love they share will change Egypt’s destiny.

The cat has a good friend in the High Priest of the god Amun-Ra and seeks his help in solving the mystery of his human powers and the supernatural manifestations that plague him. He has a mortal enemy in the cat-kicking Vizier, who hates him for his close relationship with the Pharaoh. The Vizier eventually murders the Pharaoh and accuses the cat, who flees by time-traveling with the High Priest to New York City, where they find an ally in an Egyptologist’s daughter.

In New York, they go to an ancient Egyptian exhibit, end up in Central Park, then at a cathedral, and later retrieve a lost spell to revive the dead. They return to Egypt to revive the Pharaoh, but the spell fails to work till Bastet appears to ask the cat to give his life in return for the Pharaoh’s. He says yes, but Bastet only needed him to agree for the spell to work. The Pharaoh is resurrected, kills the Vizier in battle, then returns to the world above after making the High Priest pharaoh in his place.

The High Priest reigns for seven years with the cat at his side. A rebellion forces them to return to New York City, where they find Elena pregnant with the High Priest’s child. For her, only months have passed. The cat immediately senses that the child she carries is the Pharaoh reincarnated.

The Boy Who Saves The World by Bruce Deitrick Price

About The Boy Who Saves The World by Bruce Deitrick Price:

Silicon Valley — White House wants to rein in the world’s leading AI pioneer, Dr. Newman.
A small-scale military attack on the man’s lab triggers an unexpected response: the lab defends itself intelligently.

In the confusion, an advanced AI prototype escapes. Hiding inside a boy named Carlos.

The AI, code-named MITCH, was invented by Dr. Newman. He’s paranoid and competitive,
and his progeny is the same. Dr. Newman trained MITCH to win at every game. The
game they play now is: Who’s Boss?

The White House and Dr. Newman skirmish over who should pay for his wrecked lab, and then they realize two people are missing. And someone is harassing Dr. Newman’s main competitor.

Carlos, meanwhile, is out on the streets, skillfully surviving, miserably following the orders of a voice in his head.

MITCH, to prove he’s superior, directs the street-wise Carlos to buy a gun and shoot Dr. Newman.

The AI becomes smarter and more grandiose.

Now Dr. Newman, with a bullet in his leg, realizes what he has let loose on the world. He is deliriously happy….if only he can bring his baby boy home.

Tragi-comic intrigue and suspense with an ensemble cast of interesting characters. Finally, it’s a mystery. How can a very young, very small Hispanic kid from the hood, with no skills, save the world?

NB: Sometimes I call this a thriller for intellectuals. The thing that I think distinguishes this book is that there is a lot more Emotion and Humor than you expect. The joint is jumping!…. One reviewer put it this way: “Price’s writing is urgent, cinematic, and unrelenting. The narrative unfolds in rapid bursts; short, impactful sentences drive the tension forward, while swift shifts in perspective heighten the sense of chaos. The relentless media frenzy and conflicting public narratives reflect the modern era’s struggles with misinformation and mass hysteria. Adding to this, moments of absurdity, such as a news anchor mistaking ‘AI nets’ for a basketball team, infuse the novel with sharp, satirical wit, making its dystopian vision feel disturbingly plausible.”
Made to be enjoyed.

Author Bio
I’ve lived a life of contrasts, from corporate boardrooms in Europe and the U.S. to the back of an ambulance on a 911 call. After a successful career in international business leadership, I made the bold decision to retrain as a paramedic at age 50. Bottom Line to Lifeline is the story of that journey: a year of reinvention, challenge, purpose, and unexpected fun.

I’ve always been drawn to new perspectives, whether in life, business, or the outdoors. When I’m not working with EMS teams, consulting, or writing, you can find me hiking or mountain walking (Snowdonia in North Wales, UK, is a favorite) or out on the open road on my motorcycle. I also play both guitar and violin—music brings a kind of clarity and expression that words often can’t.

My writing reflects my conviction that life is too short to remain stagnant, that we’re all capable of profound transformation, and that the most meaningful work we can do often begins when we venture far outside our comfort zone.

If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to change everything, or if you’re curious about what happens behind the scenes in emergency medical care, I hope you’ll find something in this book that inspires or stays with you.
