Featured Interview With Liz Flaherty

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up on a farm in central Indiana with the intent of leaving the area as soon as was humanly possible. Several decades later, my husband, four cats, and I live happily back a long, gravel driveway six miles from the family farm. We also have a bunch of grandkids, the actual Magnificent Seven. Did you want to see pictures?

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I don’t remember when I wasn’t fascinated by books, and by the time I was nine, I knew I wanted to write them. (I also wanted to be rich, famous, and reclusive–none of those panned out.)

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love reading Kristan Higgins, Nan Reinhardt, Janie DeVos…so many more than I can name. While romance was my first love, women’s fiction has taken over the top spot in my reader’s heart.

As an essayist who’s released one–and almost two–collections of newspaper columns and blog posts, I love slice-of-life essays, too.

I am inspired by everyone who sticks to it. My favorite piece of paper is one on which author Muriel Jensen wrote, “Never give up. Never, ever give up. I didn’t. Thank you, Muriel.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
In THE HEALING SUMMER, when Steven Elliott accidentally rides his bike into Carol Whitney’s car at the cemetery, the summer takes on new and exciting possibilities. Long friendship wends its way into something deeper when their hearts get involved. Feelings neither of them had expected to experience again enrich their days and nights. But what happens when the long summer ends? When Carol wants a family and commitment and a future, Steven isn’t so sure. He’s had his heart broken before—can he risk it again?

THE HEALING SUMMER is a sequel to ONE MORE SUMMER, still a book of my heart, and was one of my favorite ever books to write. Steven and Carol are broken, which is just how I like start, and the joy of putting them together again–albeit with some of the pieces a little crooked and scarred–is beyond measure.

Featured Interview With Jimena Yengle

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Lima, the capital of Peru. From a very young age I dedicated myself to develop myself through Art. At 15 I moved to Tarma because of my parents’ work, and that is the small city in which I currently reside. It s quiet, and often inspiring because I am surrounded by nature and clean air. We have many plants, and peace.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination for books began when I met Peter Pan by James Matthew Barrie. It was a book that broadened the horizons of my imagination. Reading made my heart happy for many years. At that time in my life, I wrote fairy tales, micro stories and articles. When I turned 12 I realized that I could get answers by putting my inner desires on several sheets of paper. From that moment on I have not stopped writing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Walt Whitman, Oscar Wilde, and Lucy Maud Montgomery.
My favorite genre to read is romance, and fairy tales. It’s something that hasn’t changed since I was little.
My sources of inspiration are diverse.I am inspired by life itself, my imagination and my internal world. And love.Love is a very present subject, but also very complex. It really colors the human experience, and the mental processes of the individual.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Roma Enamorada: Portrait of Human Experience is a story of real connections in a superficial world. It encompasses various dilemmas, cultures and ways of thinking that we find present in the human experience. It is a novel that carries a message of love, hope and a little bit of Magic.

Featured Interview With Wes Verde

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Born and raised in New Jersey: home of the 24-hour diner, haunted asylums, and the setting for the majority of movies and TV shows about the Mafia. There’s also a great deal of history, which I have only recently started to appreciate. My early years were largely spent exploring the woods behind my parents’ house. Now, I’m trying to encourage my own sons do the same thing.

When I travel, I prefer to do so by car. I don’t consider “seeing the inside of an airport” to count as traveling to a place. I like to see things and that usually means driving.

Making things has long been a hobby of mine. I spent my childhood building models of all kinds. When I’m not writing, I like to roast coffee and brew beer.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I had the good fortune of having a mother who read to my sisters and me every night. Better still, she liked to improvise. It was a rarity that she read the same book in the same way twice. In what was intended to wind us down before bedtime, she usually managed to have us rolling and laughing in stitches. And my father could always be relied upon to have at least a couple spy thrillers lying around which I soon acquired a taste for.

Despite the best efforts of my formal education to turn me off from reading (19th Century English Literature was truly wasted on my teenage self), I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated with books. Goosebumps saw me through grade school. By middle school, I discovered Heinlein. I distinctly remember sitting in the parking lot before high school reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Fight Club.

College was a weird time… The DaVinci Code was my first exposure to “fast food fiction” as I think of it. Read Harry Potter for the first time. Wicked too (I was trying to impress a girl).

Since then, my interests have expanded and I have not lacked for reading material, only time with which to read.

As for writing, I typed my first short story in middle school – some nonsense about a zombie apocalypse. This was still fresh at the time as zombies had yet not become the cultural force they are today. It was printed on inkjet, stapled together, and distributed to a dozen or so of my friends.

Whether it was strictly writing, or drawing comics, I’ve been doing it in some form or another ever since.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
A decade ago, I would have said Patrick Rothfuss and George Martin (this was before the success of the show, mind you). There’s foul opinions aplenty when it comes to these two… and I won’t add my voice to the chorus. I simply can’t badmouth an author whose books have held my interest through multiple readings.

Instead, I’ll say Scott Lynch and Andy Weir. The Lies of Locke Lamora is a damn fine amalgamation of the heist and fantasy genres with lovable scoundrels and a solid “buddy” relationship at its heart. I could go on all day. And as for Mr. Weir, I cannot help but marvel at a man who turned a series of blog entries – done in his spare time – into a bestselling novel which turned into a movie which turned into a series of novels. Andy Weir, I salute you.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Jalopy is simply the story of a young woman and her car.

In our modern world, we take high speed travel for granted, which is why the setting of the 1920s United States is important. Our main protagonist Etta spends a lot of time walking – it’s part of the drudgery of her daily routine. The ability to travel beyond the range of one’s feet holds a world of possibilities in her mind, as it undoubtedly did for many at the time. The introduction of the automobile (first run of Model T’s was 1908) had economic and social effects that are difficult to overstate.

The secondary protagonist, Art, comes at things from the opposite side – an almost hyper mobile upbringing, where his salesman father frequently moved the family to chase better prospects. For a reserved, introverted young man, this was unbearable. Thus, the lake and rural life have a particular appeal for him.

I’ll say this: while I take certain liberties with timeline, much of what you read is of things that actually happened. I’m one for authenticity. In fact, there’s a “Historical Note” chapter dedicated to such.

Avoiding spoilers here… a significant plot point involving a certain Navy Depot was a read world event. Biggest explosion in the state’s history. Yep. Big boom. People are still affected by it today.

Much of Etta’s day-to-day was borrowed from a conversation that took place with my grandmother over the course of an afternoon. While she was born in ’32 – some years after the setting of the novel – her experiences growing up on a farm in then-rural New Jersey provided a solid framework to build from.

Featured Interview With Melinda B Hipple

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Missouri, USA, but have lived in a number of mid-western states and on the west coast. I have settled back in eastern Kansas, but still travel extensively. As an older non-traditional student, I had the opportunity to live in England for a semester while studying abroad. Because I’m often not at home, it makes me sad that I haven’t been able to play host to a cat in a while.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was both a reader and a writer from a very early age. My mother designed a library into the entrance hall of my childhood home. From Dr. Seuss to Ray Bradbury, I devoured everything I could get my hands on. At bedtime, I remember my father and younger brother coming to my room so that I could read to them.

When we were around nine and ten, my brother and I started a neighborhood newspaper – hand written, and sold for 10 cents a copy. I believe we had all of three regular subscribers. Beyond that endeavor, I’ve written poetry and short stories all my life. Twenty years ago, I began writing full-length manuscripts.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My genre of choice for both reading and writing is science fiction. I grew up on Bradbury, Asimov, Heinlein and Clarke. I’m currently a huge fan of sci-fi writers like Mary Doria Russell, Andy Weir, and Cixin Liu. I prefer my sci-fi to be based in good science, but I’ll accept the improbabilities as long as the author builds a consistent world.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
In early 2021, “Raven” was released by Imperium Publishing. As the head of Odyssey Central bids farewell to five separate ships designed to colonize five new solar systems, the crew of one ship must reckon with an unsolved murder that has ramifications for all five colonies. Their decades-long journey poses challenges from the rigors of space that are multiplied by the connections made before the Day of Leaving. One crewmember’s pre-flight effort to improve the biorecycling systems mutates into a nightmare, while the murderer (driven by jealousy and revenge) corrupts the very heart of the artificial intelligence platform their lives depend on. Isolated in the harshest of environments, the Chang, the Hawking, the Einstein, the Newton, and the Kepler each find themselves in a deadly race against time.

This was the first full-length manuscript I had ever written. I knew the story was good, and after twenty years, I returned to school as a very non-traditional student and finished a creative writing degree at Baker University. With a better understanding of how to polish my work, I editing “Raven” from its original 150,000 words to the tighter book it is today. I’ve written books in other genres, but “Raven” still feels like my best work. And the first of three planned sequels is under way.

Featured Author Kaye D. Schmitz

Featured Interview With Kaye D. Schmitz

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and spent the first twenty-eight years of my life there. After that, I moved to Florida and have lived there ever since. I make my home in the World Golf Village area of St. Augustine with my husband, Michael. Our two grown children and four grandchildren also live close by. We have not had a pet since our miniature schnauzer, Heidi, died.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always been a reader and a writer. I was actually published at the age of 10 when my poem, The Garden, was published in my local newspaper. I continued to write all through high school and college–again mostly poetry and short stories. I became a novelist about five years ago and have two books currently in publication, THE CONSORT CONSPIRACY and ON DEADLY GROUNDS. My third novel, THE ROAD REMEMBERED, will release on November 1, 2021 and I am currently working on the follow-on story.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love reading the late Dorothea Benton Frank, Steve Berry, David Morrel, Kristin Hannah, and Sarah Pinbrough. I shy away from straight romances and prefer action and psychological thrillers, but for sheer story-telling, it’s hard to beat Kristin Hannah.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My newest book, THE ROAD REMEMBERED, will release on November 1, 2021–in time for Veterans’ Day–and takes place primarily during World War II. It is actually a split-time novel, with the action both during 2015 and 1945. I was inspired to write it when I found a map my deceased father received when he was discharged from the Army in 1945 at the end of the war in Europe. The map traced his progress from France to Germany with the 89th Infantry Division and was accompanied by a transcript of an oral interview he had done about his war experiences. After reading the transcript with the map in front of me, I felt as if my father spoke to me from the grave. I knew I had to tell his story–partly because he was my father and I loved him so much–but also because I wanted the world to remember how ordinary men like my dad stepped away from their everyday lives to became “citizen soldiers” in the military only long enough to defeat Hitler…and then return to their everyday lives as husbands, sons, brothers, and fathers. I was upset, however, that I hadn’t decided to write the story before my dad died since I had so many questions. But I was able to find another veteran who had also been part of the 89th Infantry Division, so I flew to Austin to interview him. It was a magical day and we became good friends. I interviewed a number of other veterans and wove their stories into a tapestry of historically accurate fiction. Most of the story was written by the time I read The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah, but after that, I realized that my “citizen soldier” story needed a “savior” in addition to the Americans. So I created a character based on the life of Irina Sendler, a Polish social worker, who saved 2,500 Jewish children from Nazi extinction. My early readers have said the story filled them up emotionally–much like The Nightingale did for me. The best description of my book is Band of Brothers (Ambrose) meets The Nightingale (Hannah). I had the book written by the beginning of 2020. And then COVID hit, throwing publishing timelines out by a couple of years, so I am very grateful to be getting this book out in 2021. Sadly, however, many of the veterans I interviewed, including my wonderful friend in Austin, have already passed, so I am working with their families to get the book out in their honor and memories.

Featured Author Paolo G. Grossi

Featured Interview With Paolo G. Grossi

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Milan, Italy. I lived in a few European capitals before settling down in London about thirty years ago.
I met my partner David roughly fifteen years ago (we don’t have a precise anniversary date). Plans include at least one book every year and a slow move to Berlin. We still love London, so we will try to split our time between these two fantastic cities.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Although I have always loved reading and writing, I’d never thought of taking it up as a career.
I was the editor of the school magazine in Milan and have written an autobiographical account of my coming of age in Italy, though I doubt I will ever try to publish it.
I am of course near retirement and the idea of writing a full novel (or, more exactly, a collection of short stories) came at the onset of lockdown when I found myself at home with not very much else to do. David was working from home, so I decided to set up my writing den in the dining room and the rest is history (or, more pertinently, “historical fiction”).

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Historical fiction is of course what I like to read most. Mary Renault and Madeleine Miller are among my favourites. Stephen Fry and Hilary Mantel too.
Mary Renault’s semi-fictional account of Alexander the Great in The Persian Boy is one of her best books.
Stephen Fry’s re-telling of Greek mythology is gripping and very funny.
I’m looking forward to read ‘Troy’, his latest work.l
These authors are my main inspiration; the nest project revolves around Renaissance Italy but I won’t say more on that.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Tiergarten Tales is a collection of short stories occasionally linked to each other.
The periods are varied: from Frederick the Great’s 1780s Prussia to 1890; theWeimar Republic of 1931 through the National Socialists’ rise to power and the final days of the war in 1945.
There are also two o three tales in modern times, right after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
It is a book about feelings and emotions. It is not a book about gay rights movements or political developments. The characters are imaginary but they could have easily existed in the context of the years in which they are portrayed.

Featured Author Lillian and Dave Brummet

Featured Interview With Lillian and Dave Brummet

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Lillian Brummet – I am in my 50’s now, married for 30 years (as of 2021) and co-manage BrummetMedia.ca. The first 20 years of my life were quite unsettled – living in several areas within California and Nevada (US), then BC and even the North West Territories (above the Arctic Circle). Dave grew up in the Okanagan area of BC (Canada), where we met and married some 30 years ago. We now reside in our dream location – in the beautiful Kootenay Region (BC, Canada). We love our fur-kids immensely, and always adopt from shelters whenever there is an opening in our home (when one of them passes on – I’m only allowed 3 dogs at a time, dang it! lol)

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My mom was an avid book reader – I have memories of her arms loaded with library books so high that they teetered and swayed as she peered over them, making her way home. She encouraged this in me as well and I found that later in life, whenever I faced a challenge I would turn to books. I had a compulsion to turn to the pen whenever I needed to express myself – verbal communications mystified and terrified me (and sometimes, still do). I became a published poet in my 20’s, worked as a staff and freelance writer and a published author just before the age of 30. Since then I have been a talk radio host, blogger, co-author of 6 published books (with hubby, Dave), and I have held professional book and product review positions over the nearly 30 years in the business.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I disappear in fiction adventure, delve into historical fiction with a passion, cling to the pages of mysteries and take emotional flight through poetry and music. My inspiration for writing comes from the need to feel that my life has value, that the time I was given was used well, that I was able to create a positive ripple in the pond of humanity, and the environment.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
We just recently (May 2021) revised our guidebook for authors: Purple Snowflake Marketing – How To Make Your Book Stand Out In A Crowd (370 pages). I’m super proud of this guidebook, and in fact I use it every single time we release a new book. The title, Purple Snowflake Marketing, was chosen intentionally. With over a thousand books published every single day, authors need to get creative in order to make their book stand out like a purple snowflake in a snowstorm of published books. Earlier this year in Feb, we published our cookbook: From One Small Garden – Over 300 Delicious Nutritious Recipes. I’m currently working on a trilogy of Dave’s late-father’s written works, and we have 2 other manuscripts waiting in the side-lines.

Featured Interview With Claire Norsworthy

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a born and bred Portlander who spent my childhood hating school. When I was twenty-two, I went on to become a high school teacher. If you’re laughing at the irony, don’t worry. So am I. I spent ten years teaching English and Spanish before taking a few years off to pop out three squirrelly boys and discover my passion for writing.
Right now, I reside in Hillsboro, OR (go suburbs! (No, seriously. I love the suburbs.)) with my three sons, one Beta fish (I accidentally killed the first five in an apocalyptic series of pet misadventures this last winter/spring), and one very furry teddy bear hamster. He’s not mine though. He belongs to my six-year-old.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always loved reading. I have a very vivid memory of a little fort I created under my desk when I was in fifth grade. I surrounded the desk with blankets, plumped the inside with pillows and snacks, and relished the heat that poured in from the duct inside it. Instead of spending my winters freezing in our cinder block house, I was busy devouring books in my hot little next.
I started writing in my thirties. It happened in a moment. I remember soaking myself in a world of books to escape the realities of three babies. Then, one day, pow, I had the idea of a girl who traveled to another world in her sleep. Scene after scene poured into my head until a year and a half later, I had written the rough draft to five epic fantasies.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I LOVE to read young adult fantasy and fiction. Inspiring authors range from Brandon Sanderson to Stephanie Meyer. Among those is Sabaa Tahir, T. Ellery Hodges, Jonathan Renshaw, Marissa Meyer, Garth Nix, and Katherine Arden. And that’s just skimming the list. There really are too many to name here.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is a story about a girl who travels to another world in her sleep while trying to capture the attention of her obsession, Jake Bronson. Katie rises from her insecurities while coming into a new power she discovers on her dream planet.
Parts of it are auto-biographical, I suppose. I know that interwoven is my own story about gaining confidence in who I was. It’s a coming-of-age, super hero, romance, adventure. All the things I wish could happen in real life.

Featured Interview With G.S. Anthony

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, California. I currently live in Los Angeles, needed to get closer to the beach. I have 2 boxers, Cali and Mookie, the best doggo’s. I work in education, have been an activist, published writer and even a kickboxer for a while.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I remember Pizza Hut having a program where if you read books you’d get points that turned into a pan pizza. So, I read for pizza and never looked back. Goosebumps was my original obsession. Then came Harry Potter, then came Ursula Le Guin who changed my entire thought processes. Now I read everything.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite author will always be Ursula Le Guin, may she Rest In Peace. Phil Dick, Hubert Selby, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuckie P., Henry Rollins, Chris Beuhlman are up there too. My favorite genre will always be sci-fi. The dystopian, the cyberpunk, the futuristic, the alternate realities, I love it all. I really enjoy horror as well, ranging from Mexican Gothic to Lovecraft.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is “A Piece of Heaven,” a sci-fi noir novel. The core of it is a brotherly relationship that soured due to personal tragedy and substance use, something I personally relate to a bit. I’m sure anyone that knows me and reads it will see parallels between Jess, Ben and my own brothers. Jess is a sad puppy dog of a hero and Ben is a tragic failure of a savior. The story itself is told like I’d tell you, sitting at bar, and is such an easy read. I’m blown away by the response so far!

I am born and raised in California, though my mother is an immigrant from Singapore. I consider myself Chinese American, in the sense that my mother was raised speaking Teochew and that my father’s side of the family practically came in on the Mayflower.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I realized my fascination with books around the time my parents started reading me “Blue Hat, Green Hat”. I began writing intensely in high school (which was somehow 8 years ago), and I have not stopped since.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Douglas Adams, Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, and Chuck Palahniuk. I love to read transgressive fiction and comedy, with bonus points when a story both. The people who inspire my writings are Dan Harmon, Voltaire, my teachers from English 1A to Screenwriting, and all four authors I mentioned as my favorites.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
In my latest book, I flipped one particular media stereotypes on its head. The “protagonist”, a man who considers himself something of an American Psycho, learns that he is not who the story is really about. He meets women with more personality, agency, and moral complexity than he could ever dream of, and they drive the story. They can drive the story off a cliff with him inside, if it pleases them.

It took me exactly one month to write the first draft, then several more months to polish into something worthy of analysis and a second read.

Finally, I am so proud of this work.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a passionate speaker, minister and author from Salisbury, MD. I have 5 children and 6 grandchildren. I completed 4 yrs of conference studies and worked in the public sector for over 20 years in many capacities such as DUI counselor and case manager. I love enjoying life, nature, and waking up to increase my knowledge on various things in life, to be the BEST me I can be.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
In my 30’s I became more fascinated with books. But I started writing in journals in my early 20’s. I would specifically buy calendars every year since my oldest daughter was born. I would write short journals in my calendar with scriptures or inspirational quotes

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I like Joyce Meyer, T. D. Jakes. and Joel Osteen. My favorite genres are Mythology and Realistic Fiction. My writings are inspired by my personal life journey.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is called “The Epitome of Kimmy: Accept & Embrace It All”. It is my testimony of finding hope from a painful past. Through this short read, I share my journey from being abandoned by my biological parents at a tender young age to the emotional, physical and sexual abuse that I had to overcome on the path to adulthood. I had to find self-love and acceptance within in order to heal from trauma. It’s a book about accepting and embracing that which is beyond our control because there is still a long road ahead in life. Through my memoir, I use my personal life struggles to inspire others to never give up hope. It covers themes like physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse as well as childhood abandonment, PTSD and healing from trauma.

Featured Interview With Hayden Winston

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA where I received a strict Caribbean upbringing (my dad is from the island of Trinidad and my mom is from Saint Lucia). I grew up in the city and the nearby suburb of Glendale, where I first began copy writing after graduating from high school. I dropped out of community college in 2009, but went on to graduate summa cum laude from Purdue with a BSc in Criminal Justice this past fall. I currently live in Northern California with my husband and our cattle dog mix.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been fascinated with reading for as long as I can remember, but I first became enthralled with writing at about age 10. I had these weekly journal assignments in school that I could not wait to complete. I even used to read them aloud to my family for critiques.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors include James Baldwin, George Orwell, and Haruki Murakami. I love a multitude of genres from true crime to sci-fi, but I especially enjoy reading dystopian fiction. I like that has greatly inspired my work.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Wildflowers is an evocative exploration of humanity’s inner craving for stability and the fragility of life. Set in the fictional town of Hunter, California, the story follows a queer, depressive, college dropout named Ansel Wallis, as he returns from Philadephia to attend his grandfather’s funeral and face his estranged family. The book took me about eight years to write, including edits.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am really a soft-spoken type of guy with an even keel disposition and try to treat everyone with a level of respect and try to reach out to others. After my tour in Germany in the military, I returned home and joined a R&B singing group and performed on the Clay Cole Rock Show at Palisades Amusement Park and then performed at nightclubs in and around New York. I later worked for Newsday as a manager until I started buying houses and repairing them renting them out to Low-income families until I retired. After a period, I learned to play piano and got into writing producing some 16 novels and still write to this day.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Actually, I started writing short stories and poems for Reader’s Digest in Germany but gave it up after returning home. I entered the university but realized it was not to be. I went through a rough patch for two decades partying with friends and relatives till some of them started dropping like flies. After grasping what was happening, and after working for Newsday, I went into writing then began buying houses until retirement. I took up writing and the piano throughout my retirement period, now spend the balance of my days writing and promoting my books with an interest still in writing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are James Baldwin and Tennessee Williams and several others.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is ZOMBIE about a selfish and mad president that has low regard for human beings. He has a fetish murdering people for access to power and for sport. He was a wannabe Hitler in every fashion and adoring General Robert E. Lee, President Andrew Jackson and any corrupt individual. Also, he bore a strong dislike for blacks even the educated ones. His one aim is to take over the world and help the white race gain full control. Then out of the blue fate entered the equation. The question was, would it be enough to stop the beast within him from continuing his murderous ways? Who would dare face up to him and turn things around for the betterment of all humnity or would the world be dealt a final blow and crumble like the mighty Roman Empire?

Featured Interview With Tom Gormley

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Born in northeastern Ohio, Tom grew up tossing newspapers, mowing the cemetery and camping with his family in a tent trailer. Tooting a sax, banging on a bass drum and running student council scared the principal enough to allow Tom to graduate from high school. He then migrated to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University where he ran student government while completing his B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Skiing, open spaces and a disk drive manufacturer brought him to Colorado. He met his wife there, which changed his passion from flying airplanes to tent camping, buying houses and raising their daughter while completing his MBA from Colorado State. But he always retained his love for history and researching what really happened way back when. Thirty some odd years later, he is ready to give up the corporate grind to spend more time with his wife and two grandkids and traveling in their motorhome with their Havanese dog Koko.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
the corporate grind kept megrim writing until I decided to give it up in my early 60s. That’s when I started writing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read a lot of different genres on my Kindle, but history and science fiction are my favorites. W.E.B. Griffin is probably my favorite author who blends historical setting and facts with what might have been using a mix of real and fictional characters. But I have also been known to really enjoy a good laugh with books by Janet Evanovich.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
A Korean War Odyssey tells the true story of Cpl. Donald Matney – his exploits and sudden disappearance during the war, and our efforts to locate and bring him home many years later. A small-town Missouri boy, Donnie joins the army at the age of 17 to see the world during peace time and is posted to the good life performing occupational duties in Japan. When the North Koreans attack, he is suddenly thrust into violent combat fighting a better armed and better prepared enemy. A mortarman who never fired a live round, he finds himself lobbing shells at the enemy across the Kum River. He disappears during the battle for Taejon. Over sixty years later, we set out to retrace his journeys and possibly bring him home. Our efforts take us to Washington, DC, Korea and many places in between. But slowly, carefully we reconstruct the short life of Donald Matney and bring him home to be buried by his mother. A Korean War Odyssey tells the story of the forgotten war from a participant’s perspective and adds the twist of a family who didn’t give up the search for their missing loved one.

Featured Author Jamie Sinclair

Featured Interview With Jamie Sinclair

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Originally I’m a Yorkshire boy (as of 1976 when I was born) but have lived in Lancashire in the north west of England since I was four. Specifically my parents moved to Morecambe, the seaside, and to this day I still love looking at the sea. Morecambe tends to be the setting for my books. My family are dog lovers. My wife and I had an English Pointer called Ralph. He’s sadly no longer with us but we have recently started looking at rescue dogs in the hope of sharing our home with an older dog who is looking for somewhere to retire!

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
The greatest thing my mother has done for me (and my brothers) is teach us to read. When I went to primary school aged four I could already read and write. I have devoured books ever since. The idea that an entire world, a set of characters, can be crafted from the imagination of someone else using words is endlessly exciting to me because, while you hold the book, you can become part of that world. I started writing stories when I was six or seven. I used to read them to my grandmother. I still write, but the stories are a little longer now.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Stephen King!! So much more than a horror writer. He’s a storyteller. At his best, he creates places that feel completely real. I think his real skill is making life in his books seem so normal and then, all of a sudden, it’s not. I also love Ian Rankin’s Rebus novels and more recently have started to whizz through the books of M.W. Craven. So, mostly detective fiction as a genre, aside from Stephen King. As for inspiration, I see stories everywhere. A comment in a shop, cafe or bar. Something on the news. Then I wonder, how did that person end up in that situation, what happened afterwards?

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I Remember You was going to be called The Ferry Pilot’s Daughter. But people kept asking what a Ferry Pilot was. Pity, I loved that title. It’s set in the village where my wife and I used to live and is about a young girl who is basically a prisoner in her own home. Dad is always away with work, delivering planes (Ferry Pilot!!) and Mum can’t cope so young Victoria remains locked in her bedroom. Suddenly, Mum has had enough and leaves. The only person left in Victoria’s life is their cleaner, Mrs Hendrick’s.
Try to imagine what it would be like if you didn’t have friends. If you had never been to school. If you’d never been around people. That’s Victoria’s life and it overwhelms her. She makes some poor choices as she scrabbles to come to terms with all the changes and she ends up in some trouble.
Eventually, as she grows, she decides to reinvent herself in an effort to leave her past behind. So Alex is born. She meets the man of her dreams and gets married. It all seems perfect. Until somebody recognises her and remembers who she really is. Then things get really interesting!

Featured Author Sohini Dutt

Featured Interview With Sohini Dutt

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Sohini Dutt and I belong to the beautiful state of Assam, from North-East India. I was born and raised in the capital city of Guwahati and completed my schooling from Maria’s Public School. After my higher secondary, I moved to the capital city of New Delhi for my graduation in History, from Miranda House, The University of Delhi. I have always enjoyed creative pursuits, especially writing and story-telling. Back in my school days I often wrote countless poems and short stories. I was even a merit holder in the subject of literature. After the pandemic had set in, I decided to give some time to writing and develop and refine my skills. Subsequently I started blogging on WordPress, writing on a plethora of topics and issues and even poetry. Eventually I earned an international audience and my blogs were published as podcasts on several platforms including Spotify. It was until recently that I decided to publish my stories and bring them to the access of readers, I wanted people to read my work! I was interning as an editor, content curator and even a student volunteer but none of it could actually bring my potential to light. That’s when I got my very first horror-thriller titled “The Cryptic Night of December” published and to my amazement, it received an amazing response! And you can say, there has been no stopping since! I’ve published three books in a row, the latest being a novella, titled “The Ghastly Secret”.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Just as I mentioned, I knew writing was my forte ever since my teachers began praising me for my essays and answers. It all became a reality when I topped my school in English. I have been writing ever since I was 9-10 years of age and there was never a fixed genre, to be honest. At times, I’d write a murder story while at other times I’d simply pen down a short poem and keep it safe in my diary!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
There is no single author who has been an inspiration, the count is rather too big! Similarly, there is no ‘specific’ genre I read, my choices can shift from an erotica to a romantic comedy, or even from a science fiction to a thriller! However I love the works of Paulo Coelho, Paula Hawkings, Satyajit Ray, Vikram Seth, Lee Child, Dan Brown and the list wont stop!

Tell us a little about your latest book?
As I had mentioned earlier, it is a novella titled “The Ghastly Secret”. It is that kind of a book which has almost everything that a reader looks for. The story is set in the time of the 1980s in the city of San Antonio, Texas. As many would know, Texas has always been the hub of paranormal activities and this is exactly why I chose this location, however this is not to say that the story is entirely horror based! It has suspense, horror, friendship, old-school romance and most importantly some aspects of history and crime! You can read the blurb on Amazon but I’d not want to bring out any further spoilers, ha-ha!

Featured Interview With Prachi Kothari

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi, I am Prachi Kothari, I am a 10-year-old author of the series, “The lightning bulbs of my heart” where I have written three books, Life of Lovely Lucida, Rainbow in the sky and The blooming flowers. I currently live in Mumbai, India. I am a blogger at exemplaryprachi.blogspot.com and a young podcaster at ‘Extraordinary World On Earth

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started writing at age of 10.One day, we were given English homework in which we had to write a poem on breakfast. In the beginning, it was a difficult task to rhyme it and writing it. But, after a long time, I had finally created a great poem. And I loved doing the activity. So, I wrote a few more poems which scaled up to a collection of400 poems. That’s what fascinated me to writing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Sarojini Naidu, Rudyard Kipling and J.K Rowling are my favourite authors. Mu favourite genre is poetry and fantasy. My mom and my sister played a renowned role in my journey.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Lucida’s life is a fantastic blend of how life should be led. This book revolves around her childhood and when she grows into an adult, she becomes an eminent personality. The book is a fusion of poetry and prose weaved into an enthralling story.

Some moments will make you happy, some emotional, but it always ends in imparting moral values and happiness.

This book took me almost 4-5 months for writing it.
