Featured Interview With Samuel Rose

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hello – Excited to do this interview! Thank you for the opportunity. Well, I grew up in a small town in western Colorado and life has been strange from the git-go. To that point, I just started a semi-autobiographical series on Vella and would encourage you to check out Freckle Constellation. In Episode 1, “What Can We Know,” you find out about a life-altering experience and life-long puzzle for my family. I cannot explain it, but it may involve aliens. *sigh,* I know.

These days, I am on the Front Range in Colorado, choosing “the quiet life of a country bumpkin” in the words of a writer friend. Back in the day, I did a fair amount of adventurous travel, including living near Mexico City for a few months on a trip to Panama (by car). Have also lived in the Philippines and have a scar to prove it.

I have never had any pets, but have been owned by *many* other animals. My cosmovision is a hybrid of Western science and Mesoamerican shamanism–and when you feed, protect, provide medical care and give love to another being you have to wonder who owns who. These days, my “owners” include some geese, chickens, dogs, cats, wild neighbors, and a bunch of trees that require me to haul their water. Yes, most of the trees have names. *sigh,* I know.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Very early. I remember Dick & Jane, Cat in the Hat, etc. Probably the first book to really hook me, was “The Forgotten Door” by Alexander Key. I started writing as a kid–a diary. But, it got snatched and read by alleged family. I learned not to write down my thoughts.

Then, in 1985, I was living on my own and started writing again. This was the start of a 37-year journey to write the Scout Report Universe. Not a typo. Not a lie. Thirty. Seven. Years. Ok, about 1991 life happened, and I dropped the project, with 2.5 unpublished books to show for the effort. Then, in 2011, life happened again. This time, due to injury, all I could do was write. So I restarted the project.

By the end of last year (2022) I finished the project. That included eight books (five published publicly; three kept private because [reasons that are actually part of the story!?!], plus the separate diptych of SORYANA’S SPEAR and HEVIN’S SPEAR.

Wow! Can you imagine what it was like to finally finish that project? It was truly a pivotal time in my life. It was such a huge and mesmerizing story, that I couldn’t let go of it until I had done my best to try and communicate to others what I had seen in my mind’s eye.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Have lots of favorite books and their authors. It’s all about the story, for me. The story stands alone. The story is not the author (unless an autobiography?). The first few that come to mind: “How I found Livingstone,” by Stanley; “The Conquest of New Spain,” by Bernal Diaz; “The Forgotten Door,” by Alexander Key; “Tom Sawyer,” by Mark Twain; “Odysseus,” by Homer; “Jonathan Livingston Seagull,” by Richard Bach; “A Separate Reality,” by Carlos Castaneda; “Dandelion Wine,” by Ray Bradbury.

It is not really a genre for me. I like to read books that feed my soul in some way. What is attractive to me is a story that is something I have not seen anything like before, is remarkable, is memorable, and provides thought-provoking abstract truths.

Who inspires me? I’m pretty cynical these days. But sometimes we humans manage to bring forth a whiff of that ancient remnant aroma of virtue. That is inspiring. Would honestly say that inspiration comes from within. Not as something that is a part of the person or owned by the person. More in that the facility for perceiving that inspiration is found in the soul, and so when we perceive it, it always seems to come from within even though it is not a part of us, per se.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Scout Report Universe

Brace yourself for an epic story that takes place in an alternate Universe…but then something unimaginable leaks over into ours. The diptych of SORYANA’S SPEAR & HEVIN’S SPEAR take place in two universes (not alternate timewaves–SciFi writers, do better). These two books are the only ones currently in print, but the plan is to re-release the other five as prequels at a future date.

The whole saga started when the apex species of the Scout Report Universe conquered a planet whose living soul is named Soryana. These great quasi-material creatures travel through the Universe spreading life in the form of biospheres that they grow.

They are horrific discarnate dragon-like beings, whose wings are nearly a mile wide when spread. There are forty-eight in their pod. No other species in the universe can stand up against them. They hyperdimensionally inhabit the core of their target planets, feeding off the emotional and soul energy of life they cultivate on the planetary “skins,” with the assistance of deities they create to manage that life.

The oldest of the deities knows his lease on life is running out, and contrives a plan to with the favor of The Builders, in the hopes of extending it. He will grow a hue-man soul over eight lives in multiple timewaves, and then they will balloon-animal contort that soul in four dimensions to create a new tesseract-type of spiritual being: star-sail being. That being will be able to travel vast distances pandimensionally and find the information that The Builders can use to fix a pesky problem they have: entropy.

One problem: when The Builders arrived on the planet hundreds of millions of years ago, Soryana cried out into The Void. Something unimaginable heard her. Wheels were put in motion. In the depths of space, a most unlikely angel that was injected into their universe…changed his course. Soryana, who is slowly being consumed, raises up her warriors–including the soul(s) that Lord Uman is manipulating–to try and defeat The Builders. A wolf crosses their paths.

These books are available on Amazon (see https://linktr.ee/samuelroseauthor in bio). There is also a short story series spin-off on Amazon Vella: World’s Edge Neighborhood.

Featured Interview With Kyle Stück

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Kyle Stück and I was born and raised in the jungles of Ecuador. I now reside in the Ozarks and write a mixture of horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and Weird fiction. No pets at the moment but someday I’d love to have a dog and cat.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’m not sure how old I was but in 8th grade my family temporarily left Ecuador to live in the United States. Before school started, I had a whole summer where I didn’t know anyone or have much to do, so I started reading to fight the anxiety and sadness of starting life over in a place where I didn’t feel like I belonged. It was a lonely time but that’s when I fell in love with reading and am eternally grateful to all those books for keeping me company. In college I took a screenwriting class and fell in love with it, but it wasn’t really till after I graduated that I got serious about writing. My first year out I started writing poetry and soon after I started working on comics; after that came short stories. I love them all but comics are where I feel most comfortable.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Some of my favorites to read include Richard Matheson, John Langan, Christopher Moore, Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, Manly Wade Wellman, and Thomas Merton. My favorite genres to read are horror, theology, Weird fiction, and fantasy. I like almost every genre though if the story is good! Algernon Blackwood, Robert Chambers, and Brian Jacques are probably the biggest inspirations in my actual writing.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Evil Cast is a comic book bathed in blood and self-awareness and a love letter to horror, its conventions, and its fans. Think Evil Dead meets Scooby Doo. It’s illustrated by Enrico Orlandi, creator of Dark Horse’s The Flower of the Witch and features the recreation of classic horror movie posters for each issue. Folks have said it’s a must-read for fans of the genre; deaths are bloody, jokes are sharp, and horror easter eggs abound. I started working on it in 2018 and in 2021 we finished the 6th issue. After that, we created a pitch doc and started shopping it around. In 2022 we found a publisher and now in 2023 it’s finally coming out (begins to weep). It was a LOT of work but I learned so much over the past couple of years about writing, comics, and collaboration and am excited to apply that knowledge as I continue to work on Evil Cast: Volume 2 and my many, many other projects. Hopefully I can sleep a little more this time…

I live in Canada with my grandma, mom and pets Sparkle (our dog) and Penny and Darkie (our birds).

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As a baby I love books and love when my mom read to me. I started writing at 3 years old. My first book Superhero Faith was published the day before my 4th birthday. I like to share my experience with others to help them improve and enjoy their lives.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy reading and listening to Bible Stories and Curious George books. I’m inspired by life; my experience and message go together so every day is a story waiting to be told.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Doctor Faith is my latest book. It’s part two in my series. This book is based from my experience when my grandmother had cancer. When my grandmother was going through her treatments Sparkle (my dog) and I, helped her get better. We made sure she exercised (go for little walks when she felt good), ate healthy (made smoothies, ate vegetables and drank water), made sure she took her vitamins (what the doctors gave her) and showered her with lots of love and affection.

Featured Interview With Au’loni Media Group, LLC

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a small town outside of Dallas, Texas. Almost 21 years after leaving, I returned to Philadelphia, where I currently reside. I have one dog and he’s truly my baby. I used to laugh at Dog owners who said that but once I got my dog, I noticed they really do become an intricate part of your family structure. I’m the Chief Visionary Officer for Au’loni Media Group, LLC and we were most recently selected as a Marquis Who’s Who in America, received the 2022 Philadelphia Award in the areas of Business and Coaching, and inducted into The Philadelphia Media Founder’s Exchange with The Lenfest Institute of Journalism. In addition, our podcast #BlackWealthIsBack was rated #13 of the Top 90 Podcasts for “Black Wealth and Finance” by FeedSpot.

We focus on merging traditional media with modern technology. Through Broadcast, Digital, and Print. We minimize the gatekeeper’s influence over the voice of the underrepresented and disenfranchised, to better strengthen our global community. To date, we’ve written 3 books. The Melanoid Chronicles: Encyclopedia Series which is the first encyclopedia series in the new millennium for the African Diaspora. We’ve also published two titles under our “mini-eBook series” called, Seafood for the Startup Soul and The “Strategy” in Struggle.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was 5 years old when I won my first writing award. It was a short poem about God that I submitted to my mosque. When I wrote it, even at such a young age, I felt the release that it caused and that was the moment, that my infatuation with putting “words to paper” came from. Soon after, I became engrossed in the creative ways that you can use words as expression and internal release. So, I started reading everything that I could get my hands on. So my fascination with reading actually started with writing which is rare, it’s usually the other way around.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, J,K. Rowling. I also love Augustus Burroughs and the new error of some of my favorite celebrities titles such as Tina Fey, Issa Rae, and Ellen DeGeneres. As a child, it was R.L. Stine and Judy Blume.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Our latest books are, The Melanoid Chronicles (Collector’s Edition): Encyclopedia Series and The “Strategy” in Struggle which is Part II of our Mini-Ebook Series.

The Melanoid Chronicles: The inspiration behind it was to change the trajectory of how black history is told and documented for all members of the African Diaspora, in hopes that our future generations will NEVER experience what every generation before them had to endure by not being told or knowing their history and having the ideas that only slavery defines them in the U.S. In 100 years, our stories of today will help shape the ideas of our children and how they value themselves. This is a “historical piece of art” to lay the groundwork for future generations.

The “Strategy” in Struggle: The inspiration behind this was to revive the “Chicken Soup” books into a new age and new technology with a focus on inspiring entrepreneurs and innovators since this is the industry that is fueling a new economy.

Featured Author Gwen Kelly

Featured Interview With Gwen Kelly

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Canada and moved to the US in 1998. I currently reside in Atlanta, GA. After losing my Lucy Lu – a black with white markings pittie-mix in late 2022, two days after her birthday, I decided to foster a dog that had been in the shelter the longest – over three years! I am working with him on being his best self which is hard for a 4-year-old dog who lived tied to a tree with an embedded collar to then being put into a shelter for three years but he is doing an amazing job. He currently has someone interested in him so the stars may be aligning for him and the rest of his sweet days! When he is adopted, I shall get another longtimer. My goal is to someday have a sanctuary where animals can come and live out the rest of their days in peace.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always loved writing but had set it aside until my 50’s. A teacher in grade 6 shattered my dreams of pursuing writing after a story I thought was good, was given a less than favorable review. It sometimes takes years to realize that stories are personal and that while they may resonate with some, they may not resonate with all. You have to just keep forging ahead and become the best writer you can be for you and for no one else.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love detective and crime mysteries, so Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Steve Turow are all favorites. As a Scorpio, I believe we have an innate sense of mystery and creating a mystery so inspiration would come from these authors.

Then there is Jess Loury and Robert Dugoni. I’ve moved away from self-help books, but back in the day Eckert Tolle would definitively be a favorite.

As a children’s author, I love to tell stories that children can learn from to help them be the best version of themselves. Incorporating animals and how they need our helps hopefully will take hold to make our future better.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Life Lessons of Lucy Lu – Book One – Lucy Lu Gets Adopted

Featured Author A.S. Norris

Featured Interview With A.S. Norris

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
First raised in Virginia before my family moved to southern California when I was a teenager. Since then I’ve lived in Japan, Florida, and now Louisiana. Had a very adventurous life growing, between backpacking/camping with the Boy Scouts, a pilgrimage to France and Italy, and, of course, the obligatory Griswold family vacations my father would take us on. The adventures continued when I entered the Navy after college, spending several deployments traveling the southeast Asian region. Now I’m married with a daughter, yet that adventurous side of me hasn’t stop burning deep within me.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I never really had a fascination with books (blasphemy! I know). But I did grow up reading dumbed-down versions of classics from the likes Robert Louis Stevenson, The Hardy Boys, and some others. Getting older I found Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Brian Jacques, and Susan Cooper, among others. Adventure and fantasy books are my go to for fun. On a more serious side, I like history books.

To say I’ve been writing since a kid would be cliché and only partially true. “Writing” then was me inserting myself into Disney stories and the like. It wasn’t until senior year in high school that I really started writing something unique. I finished my first book in college, but it never saw the light of day beyond a few chapters I posted on an old forum. It was tragically lost when both my laptop crashed and burned and my backup hard drive disappeared off the face of thh earth within the same week. There was a long drought after that until in mid-2020 a dream inspired me to write it down. That funny little dream would become the beginning tavern scene in my first published book, “The Wayward Mage,” and I haven’t stopped writing since.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors depends on my mood at the time. But Tolkien ranks up there. For humor and interesting ideas, Terry Pratchett’s “Discworld” series is a favorite. As you can probably tell, fantasy and adventure are my go-to genres. As for inspiration, should I mention Tolkien again? Truth is that every author I’ve mentioned so far has in some way inspired my writing style. I also can’t forget to mention God, because there’s no way a simpleton like myself could have dreamed up that elaborate tavern scene and have it play out with any sort of clarity; nor could I continue to jot down ideas for future books if it was just up to me.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
“The Forbearing Mage,” which debuts on Amazon April 25th, is the second book in “The Adventures of Jack Wartnose” series. It continues a couple months after the events of the first book, “The Wayward Mage,” and follows Jack Wartnose as he now must confront his estranged daughter, Margaret, who’s come to kill him over what happened between him and her mother decades ago. At the same time, he draws the attention of the Mage Council, who did not approve of his quest to retrieve the potentially cataclysmic Tome of Time, and a hidden dark lord who has his own designs for the fabled Tome.

At its core, this series is a tale of a man seeking forgiveness for his misspent youth while learning to be a better husband and father to his growing family, all told through the lens of an epic fantasy journey. It’s a family friendly fantasy adventure with a slight edge for older children and adults, ala Princess Bride or Pirates of the Caribbean, while still offering clean humor and romance. I hope you all will join me along for this adventure!

Featured Author Lynne Howard

Featured Interview With Lynne Howard

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and continue to reside there with my husband, our three children (ages 24, 23 and 15) and our two dogs. I graduated from law school in Toronto in 1995 and practiced law for several years before I decided to change my professional path. With the encouragement of my husband, I went back to school and became a teacher. I have been teaching Grade 11 and Grade 12 Law, as well as other Social Sciences courses at a private high school for over twenty years. I have also taught part-time at a university in Toronto, and I have written non-fiction publications for teachers and students. When I am not teaching, I enjoy giving back to my community, so in addition to the extra-curricular activities that I am involved with at my school, I also volunteer at a local organization which provides horseback riding therapy to individuals with disabilities. I find the time to write my novels on weekends and holidays. I am so grateful to my family for all their support and for giving me the time I need to write.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have loved reading since early childhood and have fond memories of reading with my parents. My husband and I continued this tradition with our own children. In elementary school, I started writing short stories and poetry, but I never tried to write a novel until the Dylan Dover series, which I began in 2019.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy so many genres of books, but fantasy is definitely my favorite. I love getting lost in new worlds and anything to do with magic always fascinates me. I think historical fiction is probably a close second! But I also read contemporary fiction, biographies, mysteries…For me, reading is like choosing a flavor of ice cream – I love them all, it’s just a question of what I feel like on a particular day! My favorite authors include Rick Riordan (the Percy Jackson series is one of my all time favorites! The Dylan Dover series has been strongly influenced by Greek mythology which is so important in the Percy Jackson books); J. K. Rowling (while I do not agree with her personal views, in my opinion, Harry Potter is an absolute masterpiece of fantasy fiction and I can only hope that people will connect with my characters in the way that they have embraced Harry, Ron and Hermione); I have recently been binging on books by JoJo Moyes and I couldn’t stop crying for several hours after I finished Me Before You; and finally, the book The Red Tent by Anita Diamant is one that I have read a hundred times and never get tired of re-reading!

The person who inspires my writing the most is my 15 year old son, Dylan (no coincidence that the main character in my novels is named Dylan). I started writing this series when my son was 12 years old and was looking for a new series to read. Like me, Dylan is a voracious reader and he had plowed through everything that the book stores and libraries had to offer. When I created the character of Dylan Dover, it was based very much on my son except the real Dylan obviously does not have any magical powers! When I am writing, it is my son’s voice in my head and with his permission, I use many of the experiences he has had in my novels. For example, when I was writing book 5 in the series, we were right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. My son, like so many other young people, was suffering from mental health issues caused by social isolation. Dylan was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, and I used his lived experiences in the novel. Dylan Dover had to face his own mental health issues in that book. I am so proud of my son for courageously talking about his challenges and working to dispel the stigmas that are often associated with mental health issues. Dylan is also the first person to read my drafts, and he is very quick to praise the parts he likes and critique the parts that he thinks needs to be changed. Dylan has given me so many incredible ideas that have really helped me to create the immortal world and the characters in the series.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
In the first book in the series, Dylan Dover: Into The Vortex, readers are introduced to twelve-year old Dylan who believes he is a typical kid until he stumbles into a vortex that miraculously transports him to the immortal dimension, a parallel universe. This immortal world is populated by every kind of immortal being – warlocks, witches, wizards, vampires, shapeshifters, fairies, elves, ogres, etc. who all live together, unencumbered by the rules which govern those immortals who live in the mortal dimension. This alternate universe is linked to the human world by a vortex which allows immortals to cross between realms.

Dylan not only learns that he is a warlock, but he also discovers a twin brother, extraordinary powers, and a secret prophecy that seems to have Dylan and his family at its crux. Dylan, along with his brother and their new-found wizard friend Thea, begin to unravel the mystery that surrounds their birth and the danger that threatens immortals and humans alike.

Greek mythology is an important part of the series, which is alluded to in the first book and becomes much more prevalent in books 2-5. Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, and Orion all become important to the series as it continues.

The book weaves together elements of fantasy with relatable themes that all readers will connect with, including friendships, family, identity and facing adversity. The story is meant to allow readers to escape into a world of fiction, while also addressing significant issues of our society, such as diversity and social justice.

“In a stunning debut, Lynne Howard’s Dylan Dover: Into the Vortex casts a potent reader’s charm over all youngsters clamoring for a new supernatural hero.”

Featured Interview With Howie Mooney

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in Ottawa in the 1960s. At that time, the only professional team in the city was the CFL’s Ottawa Rough Riders. My grandfather had season tickets on the north side. When they built the south side stands, my uncle got season seats there. When my brother and I were 11 or 12, a local bank had a deal for kids that if they set up an account there, they could get season tickets in the end zone seats for $5.00!! We jumped on that deal.
We were both sports nuts. Eventually, I worked covering the Riders for local television and my brother worked as one of the team’s statisticians. Today, he does the play-by-play for the OHL’s Ottawa 67s.
We both did a lot of TV and radio in Ottawa. He still lives there. I moved from Ottawa to Seattle to Vancouver to Toronto, all with work. I now live in Barrie, Ontario and work in Toronto. I now host The Sports Lunatics Show, a sports history podcast on the FiredUp Network. I am also a feature writer for the network, focusing on sports history.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I think I began to realize I loved the written word when my grandfather would bring my brother and me the programs from the Rough Rider games. I still have many programs from the games from the 1970s. For my brother, he fell in love with drawing the players. I navigated toward the writing aspect. One of my uncles was a sports columnist for the Ottawa Citizen and I thought, maybe, I could do that too. In the mid 1980s, I began researching the possibility of creating a Canadian Sports History Calendar. I spent a year and a half going through old newspapers until I had enough material for a few calendars.
I then spent almost a year trying to peddle the material to a company that might publish it. Eventually I was successful and my calendar was sold across Canada in the fall of 1989 for 1990. Another calendar for 1991 went across the country the following year as well.
In 1995, I was commissioned to write a book on the history of the Ottawa Rough Riders. That was the last book I wrote before my new book, Crazy Days & Wild Nights.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love non-fiction and I especially love sports history. There are a lot of great writers and great books on both of these genres. A friend of mine, Danny Gallagher, has written a bunch of books and I’m thinking he’s written about ten alone on the Montreal Expos. Over the last few years, after reading his books on the now defunct ball team, he inspired me to set back out on my own path as a writer. He’s been like a mentor to me in putting my own book together. I have enough material set aside now for a couple more books that I will be able to put out over the next few years.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My current book, Crazy Days & Wild Nights, is a collection of nineteen of my stories. These are not just stories of everyday, run-of-the-mill games. The events contained in these stories are absolutely out-of-the-ordinary. Some are violent, some are instructive, some are almost silly, but all of them will make the reader sit back and say ‘wow’!
I’ve been asked in interviews if I have a favorite story or stories, and, honestly, for me that’s like ranking your children. But one of my very favorite things in the book is the foreword of the book. It’s written by an old friend, Mike Ross. Rossy and I worked together at the sports radio station in Ottawa. I was one of the morning show hosts and he was the producer. He has worked so hard and so smart at his craft. He’s still working in broadcasting, now in Toronto. But he’s also the public address announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In the foreword, he told a story about a night in 1998 or 1999 in which I get him into an exclusive little room for beers after an Ottawa 67s game. He sent me the story in an email and as I was reading it, I had a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. He brought me back 25 years in the blink of an eye.
Many of the stories in the book are about hockey, but there are also stories about baseball, football, basketball and there is a tennis story in there as well. They span the period from the mid-1960s to today. All the stories are true, and many are spectacular.

Featured Interview With Candace Gish Author & Divas That Care Podcaster

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hello, Readers!
I am Candace Gish. I am a wife of an extraordinary man, and a proud mom of four amazing daughters whom I’ve homeschooled. I am an entrepreneur, author, and podcaster on Blog Talk Radio called “The Divas That Care. I have a very busy life but enjoy gardening. We live in Central Alberta Canada with our 3 cats and 2 dogs.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
That came a little later in life. I have been reading all my life, but I started writing a few years after I started podcasting as a way to share stories on a different platform. That has been 12 years and 900 plus podcast shows later!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don’t have a favorite author. There are way too many amazing authors to pick from. I honestly love all genres of writing. It is why the books I publish, anthologies that the stories are written by guest authors & writers to learn from other women.

My new release is also an anthology titled Our Mothers, Our Daughters: The Stories that Make and Create Our Lives (Divas That Care Collection)” which is the second book in this collection. The mother-daughter relationship defines who we are, how we view ourselves, and what we want for our lives. A Divas That Care anthology is a book that showcases the collaboration and celebration of women and is presented in three collections: Connection, Inner Self, and Unconditional Love.

My daughters are my big inspiration. They are the reason I originally started podcasting. I wanted to share with them the stories of the ‘Divas’ that I interview. Each episode and having these women inspire my daughters as they inspired me.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Although I qualified as an environmental scientist, specialising in marine biology, range land ecology and freshwater limnology, fate took me into the world of business, working for major corporations.

My creative journey began while living in London, designing a fantasy board game titled the Middle Kingdom of Mu. In quiet moments, often travelling overseas, I had fun writing the lore and inventing the different realms. Why a board game? Back then, I thought digital games would deprive our two sons of social interaction and limit their development. How the world has since changed.

Being time-poor, I never thought about creative writing; let alone whether I had the aptitude. On holiday travelling to Bali, I discovered through my new Kindle emerging novelists writing great fantasy and sci-fi, and this encouraged me to have a crack.

So, after an extensive business career, I can explore my creative side and give chase to wondrous ideas and storytelling that I never knew existed in me. Yep, it’s a bit self-revealing but a lot of fun.

I now live in Sydney, Australia, helping business owners develop and grow their businesses (which I greatly enjoy), and with the rest of my time, I pursue the wondrous!

Let the fun continue!

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been creative and come from a family of writers, artists, music lovers and marketers. My first books I read for pleasure were the early science fiction classics and believe me, in those days it labelled you a “nerd”. How things have changed.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
It’s hard to choose, but I’d say Phyllis Eisenstein, Frank Herbert (of course) and Arthur C Clarke. But, I’ve started having a deeper interest in esoteric and mystic non-fiction books and I’d recommend The Secret History of the World by Mark Booth as an example of what I’m reading now. Wait and see how it might influence my next book!

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I’m pretty excited about my latest book which is in final editing stage: Curse of the Severns: Book Five: Saga of the Six Realms.

Here’s a bird’s eye view:

“Desperate to discover the origins of the giant knight sky raiders, Mu suffers another loss when the fortress town of Lon Leeton falls. Now the invaders have a bridgehead in the Empire and threaten the realm of Verderan.

Returning from Krakenlore with two wings of War Dragon, Warlord Draghi prepares Mu’s defences.

In the outlands, the Druids and Elves rekindle an ancient fellowship to prepare for the gathering storm while the Essenee princes, Daarés and Henry, become deeper involved with their elven paramours. As a surprise gesture of goodwill, the Woodelven bequeath to humanity a cornucopia of mysterious One Forrest seedlings.

Can the dragon’s sudden reengagement with Mu after a three-hundred-year absence be trusted? And why are they wary of the Elves and Druids? Will the Moontar route out Cheadle Conti before she divulges House Malikea’s Moontar lineage? And what gifts will the seedlings bestow on humanity?

The plots deepen as more mysteries are uncovered in this fast-paced epic fantasy saga.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a trained Counsellor, Empowerment Speaker, Award Winning Author and Justice of the Peace for the parish of Kingston, Jamaica.

I live in Kingston. I have a pet whose name is Daisy.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated with books. I started writing in 2010 but paused due to writer’s block.

This however changed in 2021 as I was commanded by God to “Now write, my people are hurting”. I was obedient to the command and penned my first book entitled “Where Shame Ends Grace Begins: Chronicles from the Redeemed”.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are T.D. Jakes, Rick Warren and Michelle Obama. I love to read Inspirational books.

I am inspired to write when I see/hear women who are struggling with Unforgiveness, Shame and Rejection.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
“Where Shame Ends, Grace Begins: Chronicles from the Redeemed” captures the story of three(3) youngsters who struggled with fornication which led to pregnancy, unforgiveness and suicidal ideation, despite being called Christians.

It further state the reaction from the individual churches which led to them questioning whether God shares the same feeling of disgrace and shame towards them.

Thankfully, with the help of Non -Judgemental Clery, they were able to make restitution, by the Grace of God and found their way back to the body of Christ.

The book contains 8 chapters with a reflection segment and nuggets of empowerment at the end of each chapter.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hello there, I was raised in a small American town in Northern California, much like the setting of my book Rowdy Days of Dom Sanders. Horses, hiking, fishing, and hanging at the park were favorite past times for me and my two half sisters. My husband also grew up with me as one of my best friends, but we didn’t date until we were adults. Now, my husband, three children, and I live in Northern Idaho, close to Coeur d’Alene, where there are dozens of lakes to swim, camp, and fish in. We have three dogs, two cats, several spoiled goldfish, and a half dozen chickens.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I loved books from toddlerhood, both having my mom read them and making up stories. My mom gave me a cassette tape with a recording of me as a two-year-old telling her the story of the owl that said “ruff.” I loved writing anything, even for school. I excelled at English and Spanish writing in high school, but didn’t pursue much creative writing because I had other ambitions for careers and wanted to learn more about journalism. Fast forward a decade, and I found myself in love with all the fantasy stories I read.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I started with the wonder of middle school themes, but my brand has shifted to young adult where I can explore deeper, more meaningful themes to both teens and adults who also read these books.

As a child, I loved Tolkien, Bruce Coville, Madeleine L’Engle, and Goosebump books. Now I love epics like Pellinor Series by Groggon, Terry Brooks, as well as world building fantasy and myth retellings like the Sevenwaters Trilogy and indie book authors like Melanie Cellier and Eliza Tilton.

Most of my stories start with the question “what is something fantastical that is unexpected?” With my upcoming release, it was about magical animals morphing, and a victorian setting rather than medieval like many YA fantasy stories tend to be. With another YA fantasy series I’m working on, I thought about desert elves because usually they are associated with the forest. Why would they be in the desert? How would they be magical in this type of environment? These make for interesting characters and dynamics between races.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Last Dragonfly is a YA fantasy novel, and is book 1 of 2 plus a novella. It was supposed to be a stand alone, but I fell in love with the world and characters and wanted to explore them more. All I had to do was change the ending a bit to make another mission for the gang of characters that have thrown their lot in with each other. I really wanted the main character, Etoiny, to use her smarts rather than brawn to win the day in this book, and of course, there has to be magic involved. Etoiny is smart, rebellious, and curious. She can’t help it that these aren’t what women of Taachat are expected to be or do, especially those that will marry and make her husband the next Governor.

Tropes that readers might enjoy are light friends to lover (zero smut or even kissing in this one), found family, dysfunctional families, reluctant royalty/ arranged marriage, adults as adversaries, hidden world, and the chosen one. I also added some touches of mystery and gothic darkness, as well as politics between the three races and science versus magic. The environment is part of the antagonist by making toxic waters, poisonous minerals, and famine part of the Victorian plantation world’s landscape. Poor Etoiny kept having her author ask “what would be the worst thing to happen to her right now?” It just keeps getting worse.

It took me about four months to write the first draft and do two rounds of developmental edits. It still wasn’t ready at that point, so I pushed back the planned release date for five more months to get in two more rounds of developmental edits and outline the second book. It is so much better for it, so I don’t regret it except that my readers had to wait so long after the cover reveal to finally get their hands on it. I dedicated this one to my middle daughter, who is super book smart and loves interesting facts and exploring the world around her.

It will be out April 25th, 2023, and pre-orders are live now through my universal book link ( https://books2read.com/u/4NoOaJ) and Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Last-Dragonfly-Young-Fantasy-Destiny-ebook/dp/B0BT1CJW9Y).

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a musician and a computer engineer. Since I was a child, I loved art. I was born and raised in Venezuela. Now I am living in Getafe (Spain). Oh no, unfortunately, I don’t have any pets, but I would love to.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Maybe it’s a coincidence, but when I was ten years old, I suffered an accident on a small train—I was unable to walk for a year and almost lost a foot. During those months when I couldn’t even get up, I wolfed down dozens of books by Agatha Christie and other authors.

I also wrote my first short story. It was in the horror genre, and I always pictured the main character running away from a horde of zombie with the first part of the song “Magnetic Fields I” by Jean Michel Jarre playing as a background music.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are George Orwell, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Dan Simmons, Anne Rice, Gillian Flynn, Cormac McCarthy, Oriana Fallaci. Phew, this list could also continue for hours.

My favorite genre is science fiction. This is because it gives you thousands of possibilities. It’s thought-provoking and presents a range of philosophical issues I love. But what I like most about science fiction—hard-but-not-that-hard—is that it allows me to talk about one of my favorite subjects: the cosmos.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I’ve just published two books: Pulstar I – “The Swan Barely Remembers” (the first of a trilogy) and its prequel Nerve. They are all part of the Pulstarverse.

The Pulstar trilogy is science fiction, alternate reality, and dystopia with a touch of romance. Nerve is science fiction with thriller, mystery, and a tinge of horror, perhaps.

I gave up a traditional life and spent ten years creating the Pulstar trilogy, including its music. I had made a promise to someone very special in my life who’s no longer on this planet.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Cali and lived there until I was 17 years old. Now I live in Bogotá since 1982.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was lucky to study in a bilingual, gringo school, which had a huge library with 20,000 books. My first grade teacher took us to the children’s section to read and noticed that I did not choose any book. She approached me and asked why? I replied that I had already read them all. She didn’t believe me and took me around the shelves suggesting several, but I could tell him what each book was about. Then he saw that I was telling the truth and he took me, I still remember going through that corridor, to the “grown up” section and told the librarian, as something special, to let me get books out of there. A huge world opened up for me. I have always been an insatiable reader. However, I believed that I wanted to be an architect. In high school they gave us an exam, with a number 2 pencil, which was reviewed by a computer, and the results said that I had a vocation as a writer, but I did not give any credit to the exam. When I was already in my 5th semester of architecture I made a change to Literature, and I have been writing seriously since then (1984).

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read mostly philosophy and history. Authors like Herodoto, or Nietzsche really inspire me.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
New Arts, Eighth and Ninth, is and essay that took me 25 years of thinking and practicing as a transmedial artist.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi! All my life, I have loved reading. I chose to be an aircraft mechanic instead. Go figure. I do dabble in a lot of writing. My website (searchable by my name) has all my short stories, poems, and much more. I still live and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I traveled all over Texas with the aircraft industry but always came back home. My oldest daughter lives in Missouri making the life she has always wanted. My other two daughters still live with me and our many cats and dogs. I really am the crazy cat lady but just know they live a very happy, healthy, and fat life.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
We had a run-down mall close to home. Inside was a Winn’s and a family-owned book store. That probably ages me. I was about nine when I bought my very first copy of The Hobbit and have been hooked on reading ever since. I always loved writing poetry but it wasn't until my sister asked why I hadn't written a book for my brain to catch up and get on board with the idea. That is when I wrote my first fantasy book I have yet to publish. The paranormal one won the fight to be first.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Wow, there are so many. Of course, Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Michael Anderle, Kristen Painter, and Steven King. I have also found a love for self-published authors such as Auburn Tempest, M.M. Crumley, John Corwin, and Bilinda Sheehan. Now, with those mentioned, the humor and fun I found in Rick Riordan's books really inspired me the most. He is a hoot. I don't think I have a main favorite genre but paranormal, fantasy and anything having to do with the Eldritch Terrors are on the top of the list.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My published book is centered around two sisters who find out monsters and those that hunt them are real. It is a battle of whether or not they want to run or fight. If they stay, they may find out more about themselves than they wanted to.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up just north of Brisbane, Australia, but moved to the United Kingdom a couple of years ago, with my husband and our Doberman.

As well as writing spiritual books, I enjoy posting a daily angel card reading. I am also an advocate for animal and environmental welfare.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have undertaken formal and informal studies of religion and spirituality, learning from spiritual teachers in the physical world and the spiritual realm.

In a similar fashion to the character in my books, my experiences with spiritual beings started late in life. These experiences, and the love they introduced me to, took some getting used to. In order to help others who may be experiencing their own spiritual awakening, I wrote my first book: Getting Used to Weird: A Very Different Sort of Love Story, which details the tools I learned.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My books were inspired by all of the spiritual teachers from whom I learned, particularly Neale Donald Walsch, with his Conversations with God books. I have learned from many others, such as Abraham and Esther Hicks, Eckhart Tolle, and Sonia Choquette.

Although I have read a lot of spiritual books, I also enjoy reading novels. These days I look for ones which are uplifting rather than depressing or frightening.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My second book, WE ARE ONE, gives God’s perspective on Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism and expands on lessons learned in Getting Used to Weird.

My third book, Messages from the Light, is a channeled book, with messages from the angels and God. These messages are aimed at helping us move towards the New Earth, where love rules, peace reigns and everyone is treated with respect.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve written poems and song lyrics for as long as I can remember. I wrote a few short stories for school projects in elementary school, but quickly realized I prefer writing novels over shorts. Leigh Bardugo, Lois Lowry and Philip Pullman are some of my favorites. For full fantasy, I like Stephanie Donohue and Lou Wilham. For romance and fantasy, I love Brindi Quinn. Nicole Bea is another fantastic romance writer. I love big worlds and messy characters being their authentic selves.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Alter: Multipocalypse is the 3rd and final book in the series. The story follows a group of young women who are dealing with an apocalypse that is affecting every world in the multiverse.

I started this series in 2018, and can’t believe how far it has come. I love getting to create these fabulous and immersive worlds almost as much as I love destroying them!
