Sarina-RFeatured Interview With Sarina Rose

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi there, Here is a little about myself: born to first generation Italian-American parents in New Jersey. Her childhood memories of living in the four family apartment house with extended family decorate her books. Two cousins living in the house and two uncles on her mother’s side were drafted and served in Europe and Japan. One was killed in France. Her father’s family occupied the four apartments throughout her childhood into her late teens. The families took their meals together and she wandered through the apartments at will. Attended local public school and learned to use the public library as a youngster. Graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ with a B.A. and a certificate to teach Spanish grades K-12. Sarina taught seventeen years in several New Jersey school districts spaced with raising four children and working as a tutor and insurance service representative.
Continued studies at Kean University graduate school accruing credits in computer usage, reading, liberal studies, science, art history, music history, and cooperative education courses. Along the way I enrolled in an on-line creative writing class and began what I love to do now which is writing stories full time.”
I say I am lucky enough now to live near the beach on the Space Coast in Florida with husband and their two loveable dogs, Andy, a Labradoodle, and Cici, a Shih Tzu.
Sarina Rose is a member of Space Coast Authors of Romance and Romance writers of America. She is also a member of the Melbourne Women’s Club. “I enjoy the Women’s club where I am the Arts Chairperson and contribute to the monthly newsletter. I quilt children’s blankets for local hospitals and wheelchair bags for nursing homes. I am a docent at the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts at the Florida Institute of Technology and lead a lively discussion of publishing at two senior centers in the county.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I think when my sister and I received, HANS BRINKER AND THE SILVER SKATES and my mother read it to us. Maybe it was when I saw my mother read every night at the kitchen table. I would bring her books from the library. She loved the Nancy Drew Series, Ellery Queen and Agatha Christie.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Well, my tastes change frequently. For some time I read the historical fiction of Phillipa Gregory and Hillary Mantle. Now I read romances written fellow members of Space Coast Romance Writers. I do enjoy reading blogs at times, but for me blogs are sometimes wearisome. I love to read craft books on how to write better. Right now two of my favorites are Sam Stone’s books. My inspirations come from people I have met and then I imagine the what ifs about them. What if Aunt Florie decided to become a World War II spy or if my girl friend married an Italian and moved to Rome. Often they were my relatives, neighbors, friends, classmates, and some imaginary friends.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I love to play shuffleboard, browse YouTube and enjoy all types of comedy. My hobbies are reading, writing and bumming around on my days off. I studied at Ohio State University for one semester, and dropped out to become a full-time porter at a hospital while pursuing a career in writing. In my free time, I volunteer at the local humane society caring for dogs, cats and rabbits. I was raised in Columbus, Ohio, live in Anthem, Arizona now and have 1 cat.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Wow, as early as I can remember. I loved to read books over and over again. If a movie had a book, I would read it and enjoy it differently. When I was in high school I fell in love with journaling and writing out my candid thoughts. After a couple of years of journaling, I discovered that I could laugh at my own thoughts, so the transition seemed easy enough to become a writer.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love to read George Carlin, Dean Koontz and Al Franken books. My favorite genre is humor and satire, but I also love a good horror book. George Carlin is one of my absolute favorite people and an inspiration to me since I was a teenager.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book came from the number of bad incidents I have had due to have too much gas! Every time I share one of these stories with someone, I would find out that I wasn’t the only one experiencing this kind of embarassment.

author-photoFeatured Interview With Barbara Ann Gareis

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in the little town of Cookstown, NJ, just outside McGuire Air Force Base. I now live in Bordentown, NJ, just 15 minutes from where I grew up. When I was in the 8th grade, my family lived in Florida for a year while my dad worked as a Polk County sheriff’s officer. I’ve always had pets. I’m a cat lover and currently have four cats and three dogs! Life has not always been easy but I have so much to be thankful for.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve loved books since I was old enough to climb the steps that led into the book mobile. I’ve been reading various genres all my life and started writing when I was a teenager. I always knew that one day I would publish my own book and I am thrilled to be writing book number three now. I’m a sucker for memoir. My first book was an inspirational book – 100 BLESSINGS. My second book was memoir – DANCING WITH DADDY. And my third book is also memoir – BROKEN LADDER. I hope to encourage others with my own stories of overcoming adversity.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Mary Karr, Jeannette Walls, and Haven Kimmel, just to name a few. There are so many! My favorite genre is memoir but I do enjoy mystery and general fiction as well. In fact, Karen Kingsbury is my favorite author in Christian fiction. Her stories have actually brought me to tears.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
DANCING WITH DADDY: A MEMOIR OF LIFE, LOVE, AND HOPE took me four years to write. It was emotionally painful yet therapeutic to recount the tragic losses I endured as a young girl. Instead of these losses making me realize how precious life is, I became rebellious and made many terrible choices as a teenager. When love and forgiveness began to wash away the pain, tragedy would strike yet again. My secrets are now out there for the world to read. My mom has recovered from the shock of learning things about me she never knew. But in the end, if my story helps give someone else hope, then it was all worth it.

IMG_1813bit_edited-1Featured Interview With Kelly Meister-Yetter

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in a suburb of Toledo, Ohio, and still live in the area. My husband and I have four cats in the house, four domestic ducks in the back yard, and we lease a horse at a local equine rescue facility. My love of animals started at a young age. I enjoyed having hamsters, and the occasional cat would wander in and get adopted. Unfortunately, though, my mother could never see her way clear to getting me what I *really* wanted: a pet lion! LOL

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started reading at a young age, and have loved books my whole life. I started writing in grade school. I would take a fancy to a certain subject (usually weird ones for my age group, like death row, the electric chair, those men-of-war that live in the ocean and sting people), and write my own little books on the subject, complete with illustrations. Thankfully, my subject matter is much more pleasant to write about (and to read!) nowadays.

When I’m not hunched over a computer keyboard, I rescue and care for animals in need. I volunteer at a horse rescue facility, and advocate for animals, donating my time and resources to a number of animal welfare organizations. Best Friends Animal Society is one of my favorites because they have had so much success in improving the lives of our animal friends.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love non-fiction. Travel narratives by Bill Bryson top the list, along with the memoirs of my favorite critter-writer Bob Tarte, who has more pets than you can shake a stick at! I think the last count was 50+ animals in his care. C.A. Wulff also writes great animal narratives, and is a fellow champion of animal welfare causes. I would highly recommend those three writers! And, of course, you can’t top Stephen King for fiction! The Shining is my all-time favorite King book!

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book (No Better Medicine) is the follow up to my first critter-themed memoir (Crazy Critter Lady). In it, I detail my experiences with some really fun animals that I have known and loved. I share stories about cats, ducks, horses, dogs – you name it, I’ve written about it! No Better Medicine also explores my acquisition of a husband who seemed to think that he was at the top of the totem pole. You can imagine his horror when he learned that the critters come first! LOL

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in California, but in 2009, I moved to Scotland when I met my husband online. We have a young son, Alex, a cat, Noodle, and two fish, charmingly named “Little One” and “Gangnam Style” (can you see my son’s influence here?). Outside of writing, I spend a great deal of my time at the local community theatre, as well as volunteering with Victim Support Scotland. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Fresno, in criminology and victimology.

My genre of choice has always been romance, but my stories take on many sub-genres. I like to test my abilities, using my love and knowledge of history and criminology in my writings. I pride myself on accuracy, and will take the time to research my stories, making sure the locations and facts are as close to reality as possible.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been reading as long as I can remember. I owe that to my mother, who encouraged my brother and I to read from an early age. I still recall fondly sitting up each night as my mom read aloud to us, begging for just one more chapter. I would read several books at once, keeping track of all the individual plots with ease. This is a skill I still utilize today.

I began writing silly short stories with my brother, but I moved on to my own stories as I grew older. I’ve written several plays, and even had one of my plays performed by a local reading theatre. I began publishing in December, 2013, with a short story entitled “Crossing Paths,” and I’ve never looked back!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don’t think I have one favorite author. I admire many of the early historical romance authors, such as Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Bertrice Small, and Virginia Henley. I also love Nora Roberts’ ability to weave beautiful stories around romance. I love Anne Rice and her descriptive works. Reading her books pushes me to new heights in how I convey scenes to a reader. I suppose these women are my inspirations as well.

Before I began publishing, you could say my favorite genre was historical romance/fiction. Since publishing, I’ve made connections with so many authors across the genres, and I’ve opened up my horizons to new books. I’ve found some amazing authors in fantasy, science fiction, young adult, and everything in between.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is a historical romance entitled, “The Soldier’s Secret.” My father inspired in me a love of history, and I wanted to bring that to a piece of literature. Taking place during the American Civil War, my heroine, Emma Mansfield, finds herself in a difficult position. Both her brothers are missing in action, and she cannot stand idly by and wait for news of their return. Donning the guise of a young artillery soldier, she joins the Union Army with hopes of finding her brothers and bringing them home.

This book was so fascinating to write. I had to make sure I recorded the battle history properly, as well as conducting exhaustive research on women who fought during the Civil War. In all, the novel took me approximately nine months to write, amongst other projects. It sparked several blog entries to further my readers’ curiosity about these brave women who took up arms.

Featured Author Kris Kaiser

KrisKaiserFeatured Interview With Kris Kaiser

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was a bartender in college and that really helped my story telling skills. I always had a menu of lengthy jokes to share. I’m a native of the Midwest (Chicago area) and currently live in Northern California. I still love the Midwest and set most of my work there in interesting and real places. When I’m not writing I like to play tennis for some quality exercise.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Junior high would be the beginning. Got into the whole Horatio Hornblower series of something like 25 books. Loved them. Got really inspired by a English class assignment in high school and wrote a short story that I turned in two weeks early. Teacher loved it and read it to the class. I would have spent more time writing but my inspiration switched to girls and football.

Once I moved to LA, I got into screenwriting (suspense/thrillers) and had a bit of interest on one that dealt with Al Capone’s vault that an innocent family that stumbles upon it just as descendants of his henchmen are looking for it. Screenwriting is very constraining so I moved into novels to really create some deeper plots and characters. My new series is a result of that.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Robert Ludlum really inspired me on the thriller side and I love creating the suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I’ve been reading William Boyd recently (British author) and enjoy Dashiell Hammett and Robert Parker. The pacing that Dan Brown creates is great and I’ve also drawn much from movies like North by Northwest and The Fugitive as I like stories where an innocent character gets caught up in a bigger conspiracy.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I became a bit tired of thriller movies starring Tom Cruise or Matt Damon taking place all over the world. I wanted to write a smart thriller set in the good ‘ol heartland of the USA. As I began plotting in 2010, I realized the intricate conspiracy story was getting bigger than one book could handle. So, PROCLIVITY is the first book in The Lamiaceae Chronicles series which will be followed by CONTINUUM and REASONANCE. The pacing is fast with short chapters.

The story centers around a regular guy, Matt Sizemore, who’s emotionally broken. A failed marriage and a string of bad investments lead him into making one more poor decision – ordering depression medication from a smarmy pitchman on late-night TV. The drug that arrives in the mail opens a doorway in Matt’s mind of extreme visions and dreams that keep him from sleeping but open a window to new possibilities. Eventually, the nightly visions become so persuasive that he embarks on a cross-country journey of revenge against the drug maker until foreseen events get in his way.

Newly hired FDA agent, Kevin Sharpe, quickly becomes acutely aware of a swath of suicides caused by the drug across the country. What he discovers is a world of super-secret government agencies and scientific experimentation pushing the limits of of human cognition and leaving a man named Matt Sizemore as the sole survivor of a rogue test and a man that must be found.

One man’s simple attempt to mend his broken life positions him at the center of a thrilling, national conspiracy with implications on a global scale.

DYLAN-AND-ME-11.26.14Featured Interview With Morgan St. James

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Originally from Chicago, I lived in Los Angeles (La La Land, as some call it) from the time I was thirteen years old. In 2002 my husband and I bought a home in Las Vegas and for many years I had a foot in both cities, enjoying the serenity of the area where I live as the perfect writing roost. Making the nearly 300 mile trip every few weeks, I used to joke that I lived on the 15 freeway. Then two years ago we left L.A. behind and moved to Las Vegas full time. Many people are surprised to learn that there are really wonderful communities in Vegas, thinking that the Strip is the real Vegas. We are in the foothills and look down on Vegas Valley. And, yes, it is very peaceful here. Plus, I left the L.A. traffic behind, too.

I am very actively engaged in the Las Vegas writers’ community and am on the Board of Writers of Southern Nevada (nevadawriters.org). Shortly after moving here full time, I adopted Dylan the Dog (cuddling with me in my profile photo), who was a rescue dog unbelievably found abandoned in a backyard. He is my shadow, spends part of his time under my desk when I’m writing and I like to call him my associate editor.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was an avid writer from the time I was a young child, reading at the eighth grade level in the second grade. To this day, I read several books a week, alternating between print, Kindle and audio. But then, writers are supposed to be readers, so I am following the pattern. As a mystery writer, I love to read all kinds of mysteries from thrillers, to suspense to cozies. It is such fun to second guess the outcome.

My first published piece was a magazine article in a then-prestigious interior design magazine, Designers West. I went on to write many magazine articles and newspaper articles, and in the mid-nineties the fiction bug bit me. My sister, also a published writer, and I began to formulate what eventually became the Silver Sisters Mysteries series. With the release of the third Silver Sisters Mystery, “Vanishing Act in Vegas,” on April 10, 2015 and “Bumping Off Fat Vinny,” co-authored with true crime writer Dennis N. Griffin, in mid-May, I will have fourteen books in publication, but over 600 published articles dealing with the business and craft of writing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love mystery books that have a ring of reality mixed with humor or sarcasm. I also like the “ticking clock.” I love books by Robert Crais, Michael Connelly, Nelson DeMille, Lee Child and Vince Flynn. I like many of the Janet Evanovich books and Mary Daheim. However, I am always discovering new authors I haven’t read before by making it a rule to keep an open mind and not always choose my “tried and true” favorites.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
The second edition of “Vanishing Act in Vegas” is the latest book. The original publisher went out of business almost two years ago and we have been busy updating it. “Bumping Off Fat Vinny” (a stand alone funny crime caper) will be the second new book out this year. In this third Silver Sisters Mystery, identical twins Goldie Silver and Godiva Olivia DuBois, silver-haired Mae West lookalikes, and their octogenarian mother and uncle, retired vaudeville magicians who love to dress in disguise and go undercover, travel to Las Vegas to visit Godiva’s son Torch.

Instead of a nice little vacation, they discover Torch’s new girlfriend, Mara the Magnificent, the headliner magician at the Glitz Palace, is hiding an astounding secret. When entertainment turns to murder, the Silver Sisters are on the job, but the oldsters steal the show and almost do a vanishing act of their own. Fast-paced, twists, turns and lots of fun.

It generally takes my sister Phyllice Bradner and I about a year and a half to two years to write a new Silver Sisters adventure. We write long distance as she lives in Oregon and I live in Las Vegas. When we first started the series, I lived in L.A. and she lived in Juneau, Alaska, so although we meet in person a few times during the progression of the book, most of our work is by email and phone. The most important thing, though, is writing the series has brought us together as best friends.

Like Goldie and Godiva we have many similarities and many differences. We modeled Goldie, the over-the-hill hippie who owns an antique shop, after Phyllice. Well, she was on the fringes of being a flower child when she moved to Alaska and did own an antique shop at one time. Like Goldie, she is the salt of the earth, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

As for Godiva, a wealthy Beverly Hills widow who writes a syndicated advice to the lovelorn column, she was VERY loosely modeled after me. I don’t live on an estate in Beverly Hills, but at one time did live two houses out of Beverly Hills, I don’t write an advice column but have written many newspaper columns. And, I admit to being manipulative, but draw the line at being as selfish and self-servicing as Godiva. Well, maybe a little…

Featured Author J.S.Watts

J.S.Watts-websiteFeatured Interview With J.S.Watts

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a UK author, born and raised in London (England). These days I live a little outside of Cambridge, in the flatlands of East Anglia. It’s a fascinating and stimulating rural environment (which is good for the cat and for my writing), but within easy access of the many diversions of London.

As a writer, I work from home and I find plenty of ideas in my surroundings which feed into my poetry, short stories and novels.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always been an avid reader and writer. I used to say that my earliest significant writing moment was when I was around seven and a poem I had written was placed (second, I think, but I may be wrong) in a cross-borough childrens’ poetry competition. My mother, however, claims to have physical proof that my first poetry success was at the earlier age of about five, when a poem I wrote about the beauty of nature was one of two chosen to be read out in school morning assembly. Apparently, for blackmail purposes, she has the original poem in question written in my infant scrawl.

Basically, from childhood onwards, I’ve written and on the way have published many individual poems and short stories, as well as four books: two of poetry and two novels.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy the work of so many writers, and read in and across so many genres, that it’s always extremely difficult to pick favourites. I do, however, get a thrill when I come across a book that strays beyond traditional genre boundaries, or merges two or more genres. It keeps me, as a reader, on my toes, makes me think harder and often manages to deliver the unexpected. Margaret Atwood’s wonderful novel “Alias Grace” comes to mind: a book that simultaneously manages to be historical fiction, literary fiction, a mystery novel and an insightful piece of writing on human romantic and sexual relationships.

Other writers that resonate for me include (in no particular order): Ray Bradbury, Alan Garner, Sylvia Plath, Hilary Mantel, Anne Sexton, Charles Causley, Rosemary Sutcliffe and the late and much lamented Terry Pratchett.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is a novel, “Witchlight”. It’s a paranormal tale, with a touch of romance. Like Harry Potter, my main character, Holly, discovers she has previously unknown magic powers, but as she is thirty-eight rather than eleven, all similarities end there.

In fact, when her fairy godfather arrives to tell her she’s a witch, she’s suddenly having to come to terms with the uncertainties of an alarmingly magic-fuelled world. Magic, it turns out, is not like it is in the books and films. In a world where appearances can be magically deceptive, Holly cannot afford to trust those closest to her, including herself. Whilst romance blossoms, accidents start to happen and people die. Old Magic is on the hunt, but in the age-old game of cat and mouse, it is not clear who is the predatory feline and who is the helpless rodent.

The book officially comes out in paperback in May, but from now until the formal launch, special e-preview copies are available at Amazon and other ebook providers.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Sam Siv has profound interest in areas concerning personal growth and spiritual development. He is a philosopher at heart, aside from being a fitness fanatic and adventurer by choice. He is fascinated by dreams; the dream world.

Sam’s daily rituals includes practicing yoga and meditation. He aims to achieve deep inner peacefulness and maintain simplicity in life. Instilled within him is an unrelenting desire to learn and share strategies in life that would inspire everyone to aspire for greatness and realization of their dreams, visions and missions.

Several of Sam Siv’s academic ventures include the following: intellectual neuroscience, positive psychology, health and exercise and weddings. Most importantly, what he truly desires is to be a positive influence to other people.

The words of confucius inspired Sam Siv with this quote: “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” He encourages all he mentors to pursue their dreams and make incremental improvements towards goal attainment.

Through this all, Sam Siv has this to say: “If I have played only a tiny part in altering your life, made yet one good influence on you, left you with some brand-new idea, guided you in a new direction, or helped you take that next step on your journey, then I will certainly be greater than satisfied. If you were to leave right here with nothing else, I would certainly intend to leave you with this: Do not die with your songs still in you. There absolutely is nobody else that can sing your tune, but only you.”

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I first fascinated books, Since I was a young boy. But I started writing my own book when I was in the age of 15 yrs old.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
This may sound funny but my 1st and favorite author was Carlo Collodi with the book “The Adventures of Pinocchio”. That was the very 1st book that I’ve red and still its my all time favorite.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Love it so much I’m still here!
I went to local schools but traveled. I love to see new places and do new things.
I have a German Sheppard named Lexi who keeps me balanced when everything else starts to go over the edge.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I wrote my first set of stories when I was in grade three or four. They were a collection of short stories I used to keep in a very plain notebook. Hide in plain sight!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I am an absolute die hard romance reader and writer and have read everything by Jayne Ann Krentz, Elizabeth Lowell and Diana Palmer. I was inspired by these ladies’ Harlequin writing days.

I’ve now expanded to reading alot of indie authors and love Katy Evans, Lisa Marie Rice, Abbi Glines, Lori Leigh, and Maya Banks to name just a few.

As you can probably tell I have a weakness for alpha heroes.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Spanish Security is my baby right now. It stems from a time when I was court appointed parent supervisor, and had to accompany a little boy on all his visits with his father. During the visits I always wondered what would happen if I suddenly woke up in a closet to find the little boy and father gone. I was young with a very active imagination!

Spanish Security is about a heroine who blacks out on her final supervised visit with her best friend’s son with his father. She wakes up to find herself in Basque Country, staring up at the boy’s father’s head of security (hero).

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Suilyaniz, I’m 27, the oldest of four siblings and was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I live in my hometown of Ponce and yes I have various pets which include three dogs, two birds and two fishes. Apart from writing I enjoy watching silent and classic film’s, reading voraciously, listening to rock music and working on my YouTube channel. I am also a lover of history.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always been fascinated with books and I credit my mom with that because she made sure to instill in both me and my younger sister a love of reading, buying us books since we were little. I started writing at age twelve, short stories at first and then I began with novels.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Some of my favorite authors include Lisa See, Betty Smith, J.K Rowling, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens and Francine Rivers. My favorite genre is Historical Romance. I am not particularly inspired by one person in my writings but by various of the great authors of classic novels.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My novel is called Windswept, it took two years to write and is a romance set in Edwardian Era England. It tells the love story of James Thomas and Magdalena Williams, a stunningly beautiful girl who leads a terrible life of abuse and forced slavery under the roof of her stepmother ( A woman who was actually married to her father before her birth), and half-sister. The novel begins in 1891 with Magdalena’s mother and ends in 1917. But I will not give much more away because there is a sequel which follows.

Author-portraitFeatured Interview With Roy A Higgins

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m retired now and living in the Ribble Valley in rural Lancashire England. I was born a few miles away in the market town of Chorley but left when I was four years of age to live in Hyndburn. I’ve lived in the Ribble Valley since I married 44 years ago and I have no desire to live anywhere else in the world.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I became obsessed with books a an early age but more with owning them than reading. I still have books that I bought with pocket money 60 years ago and I still haven’t got around to reading some of them. I started writing about 25 years ago when I was asked to write books about electronics. I didn’t begin writing novel until about 5 years ago to fill my retirement days.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favourite modern day novelist is John Grisham but as I’ve read everything he has ever written I’ve had to move on to pastures new. Recently I’ve been reading Peter Robinson and David Baldacci, but I’m currently reading Val McDermid.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is Satan’s Whiskers, I’ve been writing it, and re-writing it, for about three years on and off. When I was young I played in a rock and pop band. While travelling in the group’s van we rear-ended a lady driver, pushing her onto a pedestrian crossing where she collided with a male pedestrian. The man was angry with the poor woman until he realised that she wasn’t the cause of his discomfort but that we were. On recognising the driver of our van, his mood changed. He told us the story of how he’d discovered a dead baby hidden inside a cardboard box. There’d been rumours that the child was dead, and that the drug addicted parents had hidden the body in a squat. He decided to discover if the rumours were true, and crashed through the upstairs window of the derelict house using a mechanical digger left unattended on a nearby construction site. I decided to use this story as the baseline for a series of vigilante killings.
In the story the pedestrian is taken home in the van and is told by his wife of the missing child. The drug addicted parents run from the squat during the commotion as Seamus, crashes the digger through an upstairs window of the house, and they hide in a disused factory building where they are discovered, a few days later, by children playing along the canal towpath. The police investigation reveals that the parents have been tortured and died in much the same way as their infant. This leads Detective Inspector Trimble to the conclusion that Seamus, or a member of the band Satan’s Whiskers, must be the killer, as they alone witnessed the dead child.
When a young girl is raped while walking her dog in nearby woodland the vigilante reacts once again, and Trimble realises that he may have a serial killer on his patch.

FINAL-TG-PHOTO-COLOR-2013-678x800Featured Interview With Tammy L. Grace

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised and still live in my hometown in rural northern Nevada. My husband and I have one grown son and a very spoiled golden retriever, who is the inspiration for the canine companions in all my books. After a career in local and state government, I retired and finally have time to dedicate to writing. I have completed three books in the Hometown Harbor Series, a women’s fiction series set in picturesque Friday Harbor. My new book, Killer Music, a private detective novel releases on April 7, 2015.

I’m addicted to chocolate and books, especially those with memorable characters. I walk several miles a day and find most of my ideas for novels while I’m walking or visiting a new place. When I’m not writing or dreaming up new ideas, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As a small child I was fascinated with books and enjoyed reading from a very young age. My favorite book from childhood is Little Women and after reading it, I wanted to be like Jo March and become a writer. I started writing in middle school, where I was inspired by my English teacher. He introduced to creative writing and with his help I started writing for our local newspaper. I wrote a column related to school and reported upon events and athletics through junior high. I was focused on other careers in high school and the path I chose led me to pursue my MBA.

I have always devoured books for pleasure and entertainment, reading hundreds each year, but my writing was focused on my character–translation–boring and technical. I became interested in creative writing again when I was in a class a few years ago and we were asked what we would like to do if we could do anything. My immediate answer was to write books and I knew when I retired being an author would become my new passion.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite books are usually thrillers. I love to read David Baldacci, Lee Child, John Sanford, and Harlan Coben. I also enjoy women’s fiction, such as Kristin Hannah and Nicholas Sparks. I have been inspired by all of these authors, all of whom have a gift in delivering remarkable books. Maeve Binchy sticks in my mind as an author who created characters I wanted to know. I’m always drawn to books where the characters come to life and I want to spend time with them. She did a wonderful job of weaving a variety of characters into her stories and with her style in mind, I strive to develop the characters in my books.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My new book, Killer Music: A Cooper Harrington Detective Novel, is set in Nashville. I took a trip to Nashville a few years ago and got the idea for the book while driving through the exclusive Belle Meade neighborhood. My main character is a bachelor who lives with his wealthy aunt in Belle Meade. This book took me about a year to complete. I actually set it aside and completed a third book in my other series, before returning to it early this year.

When private detective Cooper “Coop” Harrington meets record label mogul Grayson Taylor at a swank gathering of country music artists and politicians he never imagines he’ll be investigating his brutal murder less than twenty-four hours later.

The suspects are plentiful. More than a handful of people could have wanted him dead. Retained by Taylor’s widow, Coop works alongside his best friend and Chief of Detectives, Ben Mason. The investigation leads them to visit luxury mansions, navigate the murky undercurrents of the political world, and probe complicated family matters. Scandals, secrets, and hints of corruption swirl in the midst of their pursuit of the killer.

Coop’s faithful friend and assistant, Annabelle and his loyal golden retriever, Gus, both lend a hand during the investigation. Even his Aunt Camille mines the local gossip mill to unearth potential killers with motive. Yet the case seems hopeless until a crucial piece of evidence emerges and sends Coop and Ben on a race to catch the killer before someone else dies.

With all the mayhem in todays society there is a must that this world has a positive role model in hip hop for all cultures. On Febuary 28,2013 Sabor Latino released his first album titled “Observations Of My Life Vol.1. To be able to fulfill his mission, Sabor Latino realized that his life is more than just a song on a radio. So he transcribed his life into something the people all over the world can read. Inside his book there are twelve chapters. In these twelve chapters, the reader will be able to learn how to write a book , how to create a completed music cd, the value of a college education, and many more detailed experiences full of inspiration. As we all know, in this society that we are living in, creating positive minds is a very difficult thing to excel at. Sabor Latino’s major in psychology, and education, as well as his experiences as a social worker, has allowed him to truly see the importance of helping others . He has also, become a role model for many adolescents around the world.Since music can be used as a therapy, it is also a powerful tool when it comes to coping with challenges of all magnitudes. In summary, you will be able to understand that nothing in life is easy, but as long as you work hard, you will be able to have success. The legacy of Sabor Latino will live for ever. HerringsmFeatured Interview With Peg Herring

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Peg is an almost completely reformed high school English teacher who grew up in northern Lower Michigan and remains there except when traveling the nation and the world. After a childhood filled with cattle, horses, dogs, cats, and chickens, she’s down to one ancient cat who these days seldom lives up to her name: Trouble. Once, though, Trouble was a force to be reckoned with, surviving on her own in the wilds of Michigan’s UP for a week before returning to her worried family with a “no-big-deal” attitude.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Like the line in the poem, I was a lucky child who had a mother who read to me, so books were always present. As a kid I wrote stories for my friends to read, but life said, “Get a real job.” As an English teacher I wrote things for my students, but I really didn’t consider writing as a career.
I loved every day as a teacher (well, almost).
After decades in the classroom, I decided I wanted to be a writer of mysteries. It was gratifying to find that people will actually pay for what I write, and I don’t think I’ll ever run out of ideas.
I do find that even though I enjoy several long-running series as a reader, I can’t continue a series indefinitely as a writer. Each one seems to have an arc, and when the character has done what I pictured for him/her, I move on to someone else. Maybe someday I’ll be inspired to extend a given series, but I won’t force it. I have to have a good reason to bring that character back.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read mostly mystery, although I find a good non-fiction book every once in a while keeps me tuned in to the world. I read widely across the middle of the mystery genre. I don’t like what I term “silly” mysteries, and I don’t like gratuitous violence or protagonists who are nasty –I don’t see why I should finish a book if I don’t like and respect SOMEbody in it.
I’m inspired by Laura Lippman, Michael Connelly, and many other big-time authors, but I especially enjoy finding authors who are less well known but still very talented.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
DEAD FOR THE SHOW is the 3rd in the Dead Detective Mystery series. The protagonist, Seamus, exists between life and what comes after it, helping the dead accept their fate by finding out who killed them and why.
This time, a young woman refuses to believe she’s dead, so Seamus goes to a small theater in Toronto to find out what killed her.
Once there, Seamus finds that in addition to investigating the crime, he must try to protect the woman’s sister from being murdered too. And there’s something odd going on, a presence that shouldn’t be there that makes him ask himself, “Can a dead guy be haunted?”
As I said above, I have an arc in mind for each series. DEAD FOR THE SHOW is the third Dead Detective Mystery. In the first, THE DEAD DETECTIVE AGENCY, we met Seamus as he helped a young woman from Grand Rapids, Michigan, find out why she died so young. In the second, DEAD FOR THE MONEY, Seamus investigated another Michigan death that led him to a dizzying climb on the Mackinac Bridge. I’m working on the fourth and final Seamus book, DEAD TO GET READY–AND GO, (scheduled for release sometime in 2016) in which Seamus will investigate his own death to come to terms with it. Why did his wife and best friend murder him?
Seamus is an appealing character, rough on the outside, not so rough on the inside. The Afterlife settings are fun for those who attended Sunday School regularly. As one reader put it, the scenes are “comical but not in the least heretical.”

Paul9Featured Interview With Paul Zunckel

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in 1957, in a small country in Africa called Rhodesia. From there my family moved to Zambia, and finally found their way to South Africa where I now reside. I live in the seaside town of Margate, found in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
I love playing the guitar, and writing my own music.
I am married to a wonderful woman who supports me in every way possible, and over and above her support I have the loving support of my two dogs, who lie at my feet when I write, and will not move until I take a break.
My dream in life was to study medicine, but life got in the way, and it was something that I never realized.
I have two wonderful children, both out the house and spreading their wings, they both make me very proud.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always been fascinated with books, and my very first full collection was the works by Edgar Rice Burroughs which was his Tarzan series. Books have always been able to transport me to another world, and that is what I try and do for my readers.
I only started writing in 2014, and that was only at the insistence of my wife who challenged me to put a story idea I had on paper, so I sat down, thinking that it would be a two or three pager for a local magazine, but I was so wrong… twelve days and many many hours later, Blood Moon Over Africa was born, and since then the ideas just flow.
The only way that I can try and describe it is as if a tap has been opened, and since then Blood Spoor in the Dark and Blood Demon – Revenge have all been completed and put into a Trilogy called The Blood Trilogy.
I get told, you need to take a break, but one day later I find myself back on the keyboard and Devil in Eden is eating up the pages, and then Man in the Shadows drops by and scares the heck out of everyone.
My wife reckoned she needed to sleep with one eye open.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors were Stephen King, Dean Koontz, David Morrell,John Grisham and David Patterson, but sadly, I just don’t seem to have the time to read anymore…to busy writing my seventh novel.
I enjoy a good Thriller, something with suspense, and drama. I also enjoy a good horror story.
My wife and family inspire me in my writing as well as the few fans that I have out there, who take the time to contact me, and blow me out the water with their reviews, and encouragement.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is titled “Whispers in the Wind”, and I have been reconnected with the characters from The Blood Trilogy and Devil in Eden. The book deals with the evil of human trafficking, and abduction.

Step into the evil world of Human Trafficking, a family torn apart by abduction, a child taken to serve as High Priestess for an African Cult, her Mother sold into slavery, and the world of sex trade where nothing is as it seems, and it is all about greed.

Corrupt officials, unemployment, poverty, and power all thrown into the mix with a touch of erotica to steam up the windows.
The search for the child and woman moves from the wilds of Zambia, to the bright lights of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Join Piet van Zyl and Veronica Strydom in their search for Debi, but be warned, Veronica finds something else that she has not been looking for.

Follow Henri Le Vee, Special Agent into the sleazy world of abduction and sex trade, where he joins forces with an undercover agent who strips to get what she wants, and she has Henri in her sights.
Join Adele on her journey into slavery, her misery, her fears and her sexual awakening, as she’s thrown head first into terror and must use whatever she has to survive, if she is to ever see her family again.

This is a story that will take you and shake you, make you laugh, and bring tears to your eyes, the suspense will keep you turning the pages, the thrills will make you want more, but most of all, Whispers in the Wind will entertain you until the last page.

If I may be so bold, here is a quote from a reviewer regarding Whispers.

Whispers in the Wind
“I LOVE this book so far. I’m not done yet, but This might be the best of the stories in the Blood moon series Mr. Zunckel has wrote thus far. I highly recommend grabbing this book while you can!!” — Mar 21, 2015

The Wedding of Erin and JoshFeatured Interview With Josh Shiben

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in the mountains of Maryland and Virginia (the Shenandoah Valley, to be specific). I now live in the swamps of Northern Virginia, with my wife and two mongrels. I’m an engineer by day, and by night (assuming I have the energy), I write.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve been a story-teller as long as I can remember. I was always the kid making up the scary stories around the camp fires, or inventing fantastical plots for movies I’d like to see. I’ve also been an avid reader as long as I can remember – I assume the two (imagination and reading) go hand-in-hand.

I started writing several years ago as a hobby, and just kept at it until I eventually had something I thought was worth asking money for.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genres are horror and science fiction – together at the same time, if possible. H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, Richard Matheson and Dan Simmons are all some of my favorites.
I’d say I most like the ideas and themes of Lovecraft, and I really tried to explore those in my book Dreams of Eschaton. I know most people think of Lovecraft as “The Cthulhu Guy,” but he’s so much more than that – fear of the unknown, forbidden knowledge, and cosmic insignificance are all still very real fears that we can contend with in our world. I enjoy that it’s “intelligent” horror, that really doesn’t rely on monsters and chase scenes to be scary, and that’s what I try to emulate.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Dreams of Eschaton initially began as a sort of homage to Lovecraft, exploring and (hopefully) expanding on some of his ideas. In it, I really tried to tackle some big questions about the nature of existence, the meaning of life, and the relationship between the creator and the created (in a suitably existentially horrifying manner, of course). The question I really tried to tackle was “Would finding out that life had a disappointing purpose be worse than discovering it had no purpose at all?”

I’ve been working on it on-and-off for nearly two years now, rolling new ideas into it, and polishing the whole thing together. It started as a short story, but quickly grew bigger and bigger as I fleshed out more and more of the backstory. It ended up being a very compact 100ish pages, with a few illustrations I had a local artist put together for good measure.
