Featured Interview With Wisteria D. Jones
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Although born and raised in America, I’m currently living, working, and writing while living in Ibaraki, Japan. My journey around the world was a much needed change that allowed me to realize that I wanted to continue making writing my full-time profession. I plan on writing 12 series that will be published through Amazon between November 2017 to November 2019. As of November 2018, I’m halfway to my goal with 6 series published through Amazon: The Darkrock, The Labyrinth City, The 12 Mile Course, The Generational War, The Maydale Hauntings, and The Horrors of Redemption. Working together with my faithful cat, Plumi, I hope to entertain and delight all of my readers.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I realized I had a strong connection with books when I found myself void of new fantasy books to read in my elementary school library. My childhood days were often spent curled up with a good series, though I enjoyed playing outdoors and hanging out with friends just as much. Instead of television, I had my books to entertain me and stimulate my young mind.
I started writing when I was around nine, though it was hard to choose between putting down a book and picking up the pen. In the end, the decision was based on the fact that there were stories and ideas I had rolling around in my head that I thought others would enjoy as much as I enjoyed reading the works of fantastic authors. My need to share my stories drove me to write for almost a decade straight, which fueled my creative personality and led to my skills and knowledge as a writer today.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
A few of my favorite authors are: Eoin Colfer, J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, Phillip Pullman, Timothy Zahn, Darren Shan, Gillian Flynn, Erin Hunter, Jean M. Auel, Douglas Adams, and Scott Westerfeld. There are so many more that I could name, but I’ll keep the list brief. My favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, though horror and mystery are close favorites as well. My writings are inspired by the amazing feelings I get while reading such works, and by the fact that I want others to experience a similar experience through my own work.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, “The Horrors of Redemption”, is about a man who thinks he’s got nothing left to live for. Well, until he meets an unlikely guide and finds out that the one thing that could keep him from taking his own life is closer than he thinks. There’s horror, action, drama, mystery, and an ending that surprised everyone – including me, the writer.
Choosing to live long enough to right his wrongs, Spencer has decided to embark on a journey through the unknown. Although his one true goal is simple, it’s ultimately the hardest thing he’s ever attempted to achieve: redemption. Will Spencer find what he’s looking for? Will he lose his life – and his soul – on an insane quest with no guarantees for success? Find out!
