Featured Interview With Trevor Carss
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Hi, I’m Trevor Carss (Trev for short) and I love to write and illustrate fun, modern children’s books!
My books will hopefully inspire all ages to stand out and be different.
I was raised and currently live in a suburb of Vancouver, Canada.
I used to own a hamster. I’m still searching for my next pet, but for now my girlfriend is more than enough 🙂
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle inspired me – I first picked up that book before Preschool.
I started writing early, while in my sixth year of Elementary School.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I really enjoy any of today’s business books, as well as Stephen King and J.K. Rowling. Dr. Seuss has certainly inspired my creative approach to children’s writing and illustrations.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Two Giraffes is a modern children’s love story inspired by my girlfriend and our battles with overcoming fear.
The story follows two giraffes, Travis and Rachel, as they form a friendship, fall in love, and battle an interesting obstacle: Rachel’s parents!
It only took me two days, locked in my apartment, to write and illustrate this book. I was so passionate about the story that I couldn’t stop writing and drawing out every page.
It brings me joy every time I think about Two Giraffes as it relates to elements of what we all go through on a daily basis: fear, bravery and love.
