Featured Interview With Tim Richardson
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in a small town called Sackville, New Brunswick, which too often gets confused with a suburb of Halifax. I moved to Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 16. I have been in the finance industry for 25+ years and have had a tremendously humbling career.
For 43 years, my ‘WHY’ was money. I woke up one day and realized that I had all the money I needed and was the least happiest person I had ever been. I decided it was time to re-tool my life. I lost 75 lbs, stopped smoking and drinking and truly focused on self-improvement. I work every day at my relationships with family, friends and work colleagues. All I want it to make the world a better place.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Surprisingly, I never read a book its in entirety in my life. I started reading at age 43, which is where I gained all the knowledge I needed to re-tool things in my life. The only books I read as an adult were the books I used to study for my investment licensing.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My main focus on the books that I read are about leadership and being a better person. I often find myself referring back to specific chapters when I’m struggling with something or trying to help someone. There are too many titles that I love to name.
‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jefferson was the book that changed my life.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My book is comprised of bits and pieces of all the books I have read throughout my adult life that stuck with me. As I continued to read, I would write down the things that stuck with me. And then I would apply them to my life and test the methods. So I thought to myself, “why not write a book about it?”. Now, all my knowledge is in one place and I have a legacy written for my kids.
