Featured Interview With Susan Carlisle
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m the author of over 35 books of romance and nonfiction. I have lived in Georgia for many years but before that I lived in a number of towns in different states around the southeast. I have been married for almost 40 years and attended Auburn University. War Eagle! I have 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren. My youngest son had a heart transplant at one year old. He is 32 now. I have no pets currently but had a pet raccoon when I was a child.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I really got into reading when I was in the 6th grade and made a bad grade in math. My father wouldn’t let me watch TV until I brought up my grade. I filled my time reading. As an adult writing became an extension of my love of reading. I promised myself that when I became an author that I’ d continue to read as much as I ever did. I have kept that promise. Writers should always be readers as well.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love almost all books romance. I particularly like contemporary and historical romance. I enjoy a number of writers. Some of my favorites are: Nancy Herkness, Linda Howard, and Penny Reid. I can finish one book and start on the next immediately. I can’t get enough. I also read nonfiction on occasion.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
His Heart’s Home is the last in the Modern Masters of Their Castles series. It took me about 3 months to complete. I believe this might be my best.
The book is about Craig Lewis who needs his manor house repair so he and his recently estranged daughter will have a home to live in. He hires Jordon Glass, an architect to oversee the job. She is hiding from her past and isn’t happy when Craig and his daughter come to live at the manor before she has finished the renovation. Jordon wants nothing to do with a child, but bonds with the girl quicker than Craig does. To make matters worse she is attracted to Craig. He isn’t looking to marry again but Jordon has him thinking: What if?
