Featured Interview With Shilah Ferr
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in northern New Jersey with my brother and sister. We share treasured memories of high school, the Jersey shore and skiing with cousins, all of which became a part of “April’s Heart”! I went to college in Washington DC and became a teacher. I now live in Virginia Beach, Virginia with my husband of thirty years. Our two boys are in there twenties making their own way in the world.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I always wondered if I had a book in me, I think a lot of people wonder that, but I could never let it go. In 1977 I kept a diary for the entire year, then scrap books for each year thereafter, through most of college. I thought maybe there was a great story in there somewhere. I started writing during the winter of 2019 once I realized my epic romance would be a compilation of several relationships I had back in the day.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I just love romance, especially Erotic Romance, so of course Fifty Shades of Grey. by E.L. James is one of my favorites. I also love the Twilight series.
I often get inspiration from music I listen to while taking my daily power walks. I’ll hear a phrase or an idea that I think is romantic, sexy or powerful and write it down hoping to incorporate it into the story somehow.
