Featured Interview With Shereen Thor
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I went to Temple City High School and attended Pasadena Nazarene Church. I currently reside in Los Angeles, Ca. I am married to a mid-western dude and have two kids. I would regularly run off to “write for the weekend” which saved my sanity during the pandemic.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
When I was young I used to love thrillers, anything that scared the hell out of me was my jam. When I was 25 I went on a 6-week road trip in an RV across the USA. I read eight books and was hooked. I was able to detach from the hustle and bustle of regular life and give myself the gift of time. I used that time to read, and fell in love. When I was 27 I had failed at entrepreneurship and had to go back to work full time in sales. On the 4th day of my training, I had an entire night of insomnia where I was haunted by the thought, “What If I live a mundane life and never write a book.” This was what made me realize that I needed to do this in my lifetime.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I typically read self-help because I’m obsessed with getting better at life lol. But I also love to be entertained. My friend Kristin Geise wrote a book called Unverified that I loved. I tend to like authors who cuss, and get straight to the point, and help me get over my own BS. So Mark Mansen, Tim Ferris, Jen Sincero.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
It’s called Revolutionary Woman: Break the Rules, Live Your Purpose and Find Your Happy. It’s a bit of history, a lot of self-help, tons of humor, and full of real talk. It was written to help women get over their own mind trash that keeps them subjugated in their own lives. We tend to think we need to stay small and remain unthreatening. This means we get paid less, let people treat us poorly, and just generally take too much shit. My book is meant to light a fire under their asses and help them stand up for themselves more so that they can live a fulfilled and happy life.
