Featured Interview With SammyJaye
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is SammyJaye, and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada by way of New York City where I was born and raised.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started writing creatively and writing poetry at an early age. As I can remember, it was as early as elementary school when I took a liking to it. As I got a little older and I was in junior high school, I was very shy and writing poetry allowed me to express myself in ways that I wasn’t able to do verbally. My love of writing poetry grew from there.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love reading other poetry from up and coming poets. I love watching spoken word poets perform. As I also am a spoken word poet, watching other performers helps inspire me to keep doing what I’m doing. To keep writing and also performing my pieces for an audience. I also love reading inspirational, self help, nonfiction books.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
The name of my book is called, Introspections…into Life and Love. It’s a book of poetry and what I was aiming for was to explore and express my thoughts and feelings about what we all experience…life and love. These poetic pieces started out as notes on Facebook and before I knew it, I had written over 80 poems, and all of them talked about how I loved being in love, how I was scared to make certain decisions and choices, how I talked to God and wondered if He heard me, how I wish that I had made certain other choices and decisions. Alot of people felt the depth of my words and I decided to go ahead and publish my first book, Introspections…into Life. That book I was proud of because it told me that I could see a book of mine published, but the reincarnation of that book is this one and I’m extremely proud of it and it’s very important to me.
