Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in New Jersey, and haven’t left. I have a pet sun conure (a parrot) named Mango. I enjoy:
video games like Legend of Zelda or Sonic
trying new restaurants and cafes
recommending books, especially Middle Grade and Young Adult
walking
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was fascinated with books since elementary school. Yes, I was the kid who preferred books to people. I began writing in probably third grade on my sister’s computer, which we all shared.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
This question is so hard because there are so many talented authors in different genres! I’ll list one from each:
Middle Grade: Raina Telgemeier
Young Adult: Suzanne Park
YA Fantasy: Sabaa Tahir
YA Free Verse: Ellen Hopkins
Adult Romance: Talia Hibbert
My favorite genres is Young Adult, mostly Contemporary. So many authors and stories inspire me that I can’t write them all down.
Adult Fantasy: Sarah Hawley
Tell us a little about your latest book?
So, the short synopsis is that a teen named Ellie writes reviews on a blog for movies and shows, and finds those safer to interacting with people. She has the chance to promote her blog with help from actress Robin, who comes to her town to do holiday events to improve her public image. The girls become friends despite their initial distrust of each other.
This is my first holiday novel, so I’m excited! It was fun to write the different activities Robin and Ellie do throughout town like cookie decorating, which results in a cookie fight!
If you are looking for a Young Adult novel to give someone as a gift for the holidays, perhaps take a chance on Hot Chocolate and Holiday Mishaps, which releases on November 3.
