Featured Interview With Sally Ann Melia
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Sally Ann Melia was born in the Uk but age 12 emigrated to France, and fiound herself in the perculiar position of learning English as a second language. She was not impressed. Her teacher told her to sit at the back and be quiet. her mother told her ‘ to practise her french’. Sally did all three of these writing her first science fiction novel, sat at the back of a classroom of french children learning english, and developing a life long passion for words and storytelling.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Sally carried on writing through her university years accumulating pages and pages of adventures, and still working towards the great book. It was only on leaving univeristy that she joined the Brum SF club and started to understand what it took to write and publish a novel. For the next years she wrote every kind of text from book reviews, to SF author interviews, to articles on how to write to full blown radio and film scripts.
She completed 3 novels but the publishing deal was still elusive. Out of money and out of luck, Sally took a new role in Events marketign and developed a new passion for amateaur theatre.
years passed and Sally was writing marketing and advertising copy during the day, writing , directing and producing for the amateur stage during the night, then in 2010 with a house move, she discovered all the old manuscripts, and decide to join the Hogs Back Writers.
Sally lives in Farnham Surrey, with a view over the gafnous Hogs Back at the edge of the Surrey Hills, She is married to David, they have two children and three gerbils.

Reviews:
“One of the most powerhouse imaginations I’ve encountered in sci-fi…” Dean C. Moore, Love on the Run
“Set in a world where fashion and fun hide treacherous politics and danger, Guy Erma and the Son of Empire will keep you enthralled.” Sherrill Nilson, Karda: Adalta Vol. 1.
A good old-fashioned political thriller – if you loved both Frank Herbert’s Dune and Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games – you will adore Guy Erma.
