Featured Interview With Riley Wells
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in the beautiful “Mitten” state of Michigan, where I currently still reside. I have two very adorable dogs (Pomeranian) that are spoiled every single day with homemade dog treats.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always loved to read, but started writing at the age of twelve when my father had passed away. At first all I wrote was poetry as a way to sort my thoughts and the overwhelming emotions that I struggled with at the loss of my best friend and father. Later on I started to play around with writing more in depth articles and finally reached a point just this year where I wrote my memoir.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors. I love to read a variety of genres, however I do lean more toward the types of books that help you to grow as an individual. As far as who inspires me in my writings, that is often times just the conversations I have with others. Each one of us have a story to tell, most of us like to keep ours hidden, but on occasion you get to see a glimpse inside someone to the person they truly are. Those are my inspirations.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest (and only) book is called “My Shattered Mirror: Finding the path to healing amidst the broken pieces.” This book was inspired by the different forms of trauma I have experienced since early childhood. For many years, I ran from my story since I often found it easier to bury, then to face it and learn to cope with the pain. After many years, I finally found my way to healing and now I advocate for others that have lost their own voice in the face of trauma.
