Featured Interview With Rev. Dr. Douglas E. Busby
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Rev. Dr. Douglas E. Busby received his M.D. (cum laude) and M.Sc. (in biophysics) from the Western University in Canada, and became a board-certified specialist in Aerospace Medicine in the United States. Under a NASA contract at the Lovelace Foundation, he wrote a forward-looking, investigative report which was subsequently published as a book, “Space Clinical Medicine: A Prospective Look at Medical Problems from Hazards of Space Operations.” Later, he fulfilled his second career choice, Christian ministry, receiving his M.Div. from the Chicago Theological Seminary, and his D.Min. and Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Foundation. He has had a life-long interest in spiritual healing, which for the past 17 years has included a personal study of the healing ministry of the Brazilian Spiritist healer, John of God. Currently, he preaches, lectures, and writes on and provides support for spiritual healing. He and his wife live in Valparaiso, Indiana, where his wife is an energy medicine practitioner.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I became fascinated with books about the age of 10. I started “formal” writing in 1964, when I began to write on Space Clinical Medicine
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Morton Kelsey, Francis MacNutt, Ron Roth, Larry Dossey, the writers of the Gospels, Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan and Bart Ehrman. My favorite genres fall under nonfiction>religion>spirituality>spiritual healing. The inspiration for my writings comes from my wife, Christina R. Dougherty.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I have written this book to promote a wider awareness of our being able to help God heal us, by opening minds to the reality of spiritual healing and by providing guidance for spiritual healing as practiced by Jesus Christ. First, I provide a history of spiritual healing from pre-biblical times to the present. Then, I consider Jesus’ way of spiritual healing and how it can be applied in a spiritual healing session. Finally, I offer information on how to design and conduct a spiritual healing session, including preparation, framework, and resources.
