Featured Interview With Rain Oxford
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Arizona and raised in the woods of Oklahoma, right between no and where. I teach Math and English at a small-town middle school. I have a four-pound Maltese. Besides writing and teaching, I also enjoy photography, playing the piano and cooking.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My love for books began at the age of ten with the Harry Potter series. I started writing when I was twelve.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite author is Robert Asprin. I read primarily fantasy/adventure.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
The Guardian’s Grimoire is the first in a fantasy series. When the main character, Dylan, finds a mysterious book, he is thrust into an unfamiliar world, where he must practice magic and battle supernatural forces that threaten Earth. Most of the book is set on another planet.
Besides Dylan, you will meet Divina, beautiful and secretive; Kiro, an ancient Guardian who is as powerful in magic as he is devoted to his duties; Mordon, a mysterious young man with a superior mastery of fire; and many others.
I began writing this series in 2009, and I am working on the fifth book now. Much of the culture of Duran was influenced by my adventures in Japan.
