Featured Interview With Morigan Shaw
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in West Virginia, although I’ve lived a few other places, it’s West Virginia I call home now with my son and cats.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Oh gosh, I was around 6 years old, maybe 7 when my love of books – and my desire to be a writer – started. In fact, I still have my original 1970’s printing of E.B. White’s, Trumpet of the Swan, the book that started it all. Then once I started reading Stephen King (a little older of course!), I knew that was what I wanted to “be when I grew up”.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
This is always a tough question – I love all the books I’ve read, even the really bad ones lol, because I’ve learned something from each and every one of them, both fiction and nonfiction.
My favorite genre to read is probably fantasy, followed by horror, and historical romance. But I always have some nonfiction work that I’m reading too.
My writing is inspired by life – sounds cliche I know, but it’s true. I have loved fantasy stories for as long as I can remember, and my son and I are both huge MMORPG fans. Writing in the fantasy genre was just a given I think!
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, Edelaine’s Folly: Book One of the Idoramin Chronicles is a story about a young woman who finds herself thrust into a destiny she doesn’t want, a family legacy she never knew, and forced to trust in an unknown strength she doesn’t understand. I wanted to start diving deeply into character development and bring readers into this world, with these characters. While readers may find some of the traditional fantasy genre tropes here, there are a few twists and turns along the way.
