Featured Interview With Mia Heintzelman
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a tea-drinking, polka dot lover and romance book reader and writer. I was born in Chicago, raised in California (Venice>Vista>Bay), and now I live in Vegas. I don’t have a pet, but I do want a lazy, three-year old or so small dog that doesn’t require a lot of exercise.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Third grade. I wrote my first book, Darrot and the Parrot. Lol. I was in love with reading and writing. I won a gold genie lamp shaped award for that book, then my uncle told me that I shouldn’t want to be a writer because writers didn’t make any money. It took until I was in college to correct my course. I’ve been writing ever since. P.S. I’ve never taken advice from that uncle again.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
It’s either love or gory death for me, so romance or mystery thriller/suspense. My favorite authors are Emily Giffin, Kennedy Ryan, Sally Thorne, Christina Lauren, Harlan Coben, and Jasmine Guillory, all of whom inform and inspire my writing.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Mixed Emotions is the third book in my All Mixed Up series although it can definitely read as a stand alone. It’s a fun and modern take on finding love. We meet Zora and Mike who are connected because he’s her brother’s best friend and business counsel. She’s staying with her brother an his fiancé until they have dry rot and termites. After exhausting other options, Zora ends up staying at Mike’s place. It’s forced proximity and forbidden romance all wrapped up in one digital dating game.
