Featured Interview With Mia Chediak
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Cuba and raised in NY. I live on Long Island currently and am happily married. I love dogs, but don’t have one now. I had to put my 16 year old Scottie, Max down 2 years ago and am taking some time before bringing another new member into the family. I love my husband, sons, Trader Joe’s Vanilla Ice cream and a great flick! I always try to find the positive in any situation and love a good laugh. My favorite movies are As Good As It Gets, Pulp Fiction and On The Waterfront. I am a sucker for bedroom eyes and wet noses!
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have loved to read from the time my 7th grade English Lit teacher read A Tale of Two Cities in character. I started to write poetry around the same time. I enjoy writing short stories, have 2 more novels in the works and still a hopeful romantic, love poetry.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Philip Roth,Anne Sexton, John Irving, Tom Robbins, Jodi Picoult, Mark Twain and Sophie Kinsella. My favorite books are American Pastoral and Fierce Invalids home from Hot Climates.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is a cathartic labor of love. Written about a tough stretch in a women’s life, it shares with us the disappointments and triumphs of Julia Stoddard. Julia “grows up” in her forties and finds out what is truly important in life by traversing adversity.
