Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve enjoyed the campgrounds of Eastern Oregon during the summers and the snow covered hills of Mt. Hood in the winters. The beach is a favorite spot of mine anytime of year. I’ve been known to wear a parka at the Oregon Coast, just to be able to hear the ocean’s waves for a day trip!

While I have lived elsewhere, I’m currently residing in the Portland, Or metropolitan area, and am raising my two kids to enjoy the outdoors as much as I have. We enjoy hiking, swimming and camping together as often as we can. The kids aren’t as fond of the beach in the winters, but a summer trip is always fun!

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve been reading and writing as far back as I can remember. I don’t recall learning to read, although I do recall struggling with learning my alphabet. I kept wondering why I needed to know what order the letters went in if I already knew how to use them and the sounds they made! The first time I was paid to help someone else with their writing I was about 10 years old. An entrepreneurial family member had me write a letter to his client. I had a blast with it and have continued focusing on nonfiction throughout my career.

All growing up, I remember having contests with myself to see how many books I could read in a single weekend – Friday after school until Sunday bedtime. I think the most I read was 4. I loved The Babysitters Club and Nancy Drew the most. I still have all of my Nancy Drew books and my daughter has enjoyed them as well.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Today, I tend to read nonfiction mostly. I can often be found perusing business, marketing, and self-help, and spiritual books of various kinds from Jack Canfield to Deepok Chopra to Brene Brown and many more. When I read fiction it ranges from inspiriting works like Paulo Coehlo to quick-easy reads like the Twilight series. Having done so much editing and review for clients over the years, I can no longer read nonfiction without my internal editor taking notes. So, fiction has become my livingroom escape pod.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My most recent release is based on original research I did to earn my master’s degree. I wanted to find out how nonfiction authors can create powerful, long-lasting influence that changes readers’ lives. By comparing the top two most influential books published in the 20th century, I discover 10 secrets to influential authorship. I have developed these secrets into a framework that has allowed my clients to become award-winning, bestselling authors.

“Leverage: Authorship for the New Millennium” is the first book in the 3-part Influential Authorship series, and is available now on Amazon Kindle. Pars 2 and 3 are scheduled for release later this year. This book, focuses on what the author brings into the writing, and their ability to engage the reader at emotional levels in order to inspire action from the inside out.

It’s incredible to see my work – the years of academic research and then the year or more of rewriting it to make it reader-friendly – finally coming to light and being made available to the public!
