Featured Interview With Julienne Russell
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Raised on the east coast, found my home on the west coast, and now I live in Arizona with my husband, daughter, and a cat that takes his name extremely seriously. I’m a full time writer and take pleasure in the fact that I can stay home with my baby and still get paid.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been interested in books for as long as I can remember. I started writing while quite young and was published half a dozen times before the end of high school. After a long sabbatical battling depression I found myself with pen in hand yet again; working through my inner pain while my pen vomited plot lines onto every scrap of available paper.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I am a big fan of reading romance and drama. Dan Brown, James Rollins, Jeaniene Frost, Mya Banks… They’re probably my favorites.
I also enjoy the classic authors we learn about as children: Fitzgerald, Burgess, Hawthorn, Austen, Dickens. Books just aren’t written like that anymore.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My most recent book being released (March 2016) is called I Am Lady Sasha: The Journey from Slave to Slave. I spent the last two years writing about Lady Sasha’s experience in a Tolkien-esque, post-apocalyptic world where she makes the journey of being sold as an insubordinate slave to becoming a public “slave” by choice. Remembering that her family once thought of the Ladies from the Temple of Libisha in high regard, Sasha made the decision to begin training when the opportunity arose.
