Featured Interview With Joie Schmidt
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in Southern California. I currently live in Northern California. We have 2 bunnies, 1 German Shepherd, and 1 parakeet. I grew up in a household of 5 dogs, 1 cat, and fish. I love having pets.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
That’s a good question. I’m not sure, but I know I was very young in elementary school. I remember even writing, illustrating and creating the book binding for a couple of books I wrote called “The First Pizza” and “The First Cat”. I used to also get in trouble for having a flashlight under the covers when it was past my bedtime just so I could stay up later and finish a book I was reading.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love to read everything from inspirational writers like Joel Osteen, Brian Tracy and Eckhart Tolle to the bible. It depends on my mood, but I tend to read books in groups by genre. For example, I might read several inspirational books and then turn to leisure fiction books like “Twilight” by Stephanie Meyers and only read books in this genre for awhile.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
“Keep Joy in a Pocket & Love in a Heart Locket” is my latest book. It was inspired by the “Dreams of the Heart” series. I noticed that there were many catchy, inspirational phrases in the series like “And, blessings unto you dearest angels, be not ever blue, for He has always loved you” and “a smile to replace to the stars” that in turn reminded me of universally beloved household quotes like “shoot for the moon and you’ll be among the stars” and then it just felt natural to create this third book.
