Featured Interview With James Miller
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Delaware. I currently live in Delaware where, as well as writing, I also take care of my ailing father. Life here is pretty simple in that I have loving family and friends nearby. I live next to a park, which gives me some time to let my mind wander in the world of poetry. We used to have Bulldogs when I was growing up. I was very fond of them. The memory of their faces still makes me smile. I would like to have another one in the future. They put my mind at ease, there cuddling with unconditional love.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I wrote my first poems during my senior year of high school. I guess that’s when I realized I needed poetry in my life if I wanted to make it through adulthood. I had always enjoyed reading, but Shakespeare was my first love as far as literature goes. I still read Shakespeare today.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors to read are John Keats and William Wordsworth. I feel closely linked to the Romantic era as far as poetry goes. I think Keats is the greatest poet to have written in the English language. His odes and sonnets have kept me going through my darkest days. I love Wordsworth because, as well as being a great poet, I am drawn to the topics he writes about. I love how he explores the idea of eternity and its relationship to nature.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My book, Walkways, believes in beauty, faith, and love as a means to helping us heal and grow in life. I believe that beauty cleanses the mind. My faith, which is all important to me, arrived in a radiant light that allowed me to the see the world with new eyes. Since then, I have been able to love my neighbor and my God to the best of my ability. I think that this ability is made possible with love. Therefore, I hope my book comes to the reader like a breath of love. I really just want my reader to experience beauty, so their world becomes a little brighter and a little more meaningful. Because of this, I often explore nature and its infinite possibilities. I try to reveal how nature is directly connected to the human psyche in a beautiful way. This gives my writing the strength to delve into the substance of the human soul. So, all in all, I hope my book touches the human heart, the love which makes us divine.
