Featured Interview With J. Edwards Holt

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m J. Edwards Holt. I was born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina. I currently live in North Carolina as a full-time author, illustrator, and blogger.

I have a dog named Mia that I’ve had for two years now. She’s a German Shepherd/Boxer mix, and she is a handful. She’s an outgoing dog with lots of energy and a great personality. She brings joy and laughter to my family, as all dogs do!

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I remember learning to read when I was a very young child. From the moment I started reading, I loved it. In elementary school, I became fascinated with the yearly writing tests that we were given. I was one of the few who enjoyed the test, and I even looked forward to it every year.

Elementary school was when I began most of my writing, continuing through middle and high school, and even college. I published my first book, “Little Men, Big Treasures”, in 2017.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Some of my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Jude Watson, and James Luceno. My favorite genres to read and write are Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
I currently have five books on the market. They are mostly geared toward younger readers; four are children’s books and the other is a novel.

My childrens’s books are available at Blurb.com and each book addresses issues children face in everyday life, such as jealousy and bullying. One book explains the true meaning of Christmas and another the true meaning of Easter.

My novel is called “Little Men, Big Treasures” and it is available on Amazon. The plot summary for it is this:

“O’balin, son of Blorn is an eager young dwarf and a native to the mysterious Mountain Realm. Having been a treasure hunter for most of his life, O’balin is overjoyed when he hears that the king of the Mountain Realm is offering a vast reward to the one who finds The Lost Treasure of Undur, a long-lost treasure that has been missing for generations. Despite warnings from his neurotic brother and others around his home, O’balin is unable to pass up such a grand opportunity and thus gathers a handful of his family and friends to accompany him on the journey of a lifetime. Along the way O’balin and his comrades experience grand adventures, incredible battles, fun and laughs, sacrifice, and even loss in the first to come in a series of epic tales by Author J. Edwards Holt.”
