Featured Interview With G.S. Anthony
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, California. I currently live in Los Angeles, needed to get closer to the beach. I have 2 boxers, Cali and Mookie, the best doggo’s. I work in education, have been an activist, published writer and even a kickboxer for a while.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I remember Pizza Hut having a program where if you read books you’d get points that turned into a pan pizza. So, I read for pizza and never looked back. Goosebumps was my original obsession. Then came Harry Potter, then came Ursula Le Guin who changed my entire thought processes. Now I read everything.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite author will always be Ursula Le Guin, may she Rest In Peace. Phil Dick, Hubert Selby, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuckie P., Henry Rollins, Chris Beuhlman are up there too. My favorite genre will always be sci-fi. The dystopian, the cyberpunk, the futuristic, the alternate realities, I love it all. I really enjoy horror as well, ranging from Mexican Gothic to Lovecraft.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is “A Piece of Heaven,” a sci-fi noir novel. The core of it is a brotherly relationship that soured due to personal tragedy and substance use, something I personally relate to a bit. I’m sure anyone that knows me and reads it will see parallels between Jess, Ben and my own brothers. Jess is a sad puppy dog of a hero and Ben is a tragic failure of a savior. The story itself is told like I’d tell you, sitting at bar, and is such an easy read. I’m blown away by the response so far!
