Featured Interview With Denis Knezovic
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (which was Yugoslavia at the time). I was partly raised in Germany and partly in the US, I was 14 years old when we moved to the States. I currently live in beautiful Athens, Greece
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was maybe 13 or 14 years old when I really got into books. But the idea of writing about my life came well before that. Late high school and especially college made me realize that I have a talent for writing. I started writing for a living out of necessity when I finished my studies.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors to read are Leon Trotsky and David North, the current leader of the Trotskyist movement in the United States. My favorite genre is clearly nonfiction. As far as fiction is concerned, I enjoyed the early Dan Brown novels. But with my academic background in history, I prefer nonfiction. I don’t think that anyone in particular inspires my writing per se, but having read numerous books by David North in the last few years, I’ve certainly picked up on his style inadvertently.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Well, this particular interview is about my very first book, my memoir “Against all Odds”. It is about my life in various countries and about coping with my disability at the same time . Given that it was my first book, it took me way too long to finish it. I wasn’t sure that it was what I really wanted to do, so it took quite a bit of motivation from my inner circle to get it done.
