At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Before I could ever read, I had a true fascination with books. I loved the bold colors and the big pictures. When I learned to read around 4 or 5, it was for entertainment. But as I grew older, it became my way of escaping what was happening around me. As a survivor of verbal abuse, it let me go to different worlds where it didn’t matter how short or fat I was. I could travel to new places, live out a fantasy, or just enjoy the happy endings. Reading was my superpower that helped me to be more than what people expected me to be.
