Featured Interview With Dawn Marcotte
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in Iowa, but have lived in Minnesota for the past 25+ years. One of the things I really love about where I live are all of the opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature all year long (yes even in the cold, cold winters.) I have gotten a chance to try a wide variety of new activities, including dog sledding and skijoring.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have always loved books, but when I was a child the only way to get a book published was through an agent with an established publishing house, so I never considered being a published author a career. Then when the internet arrived and Amazon started publishing books I realized I could follow my dream and write for a living.
The first step was creating content for the world wide web as articles and blog posts, then I did some ghost writing and finally started to write my own books. I just love to create informative, helpful books that other people can read to make their own lives better.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
While I write non-fiction books, my favorite books to read are mysteries, sci-fi and fantasty. I love Mercedes Lackey, J.A. Jance and Faye Kellerman. It is also a lot of fun to discover new authors, which I do through Kindle Unlimited.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My most recent book, Success Guaranteed 9 Lies Online Entrepreneurs Need to Know, is designed to help new and aspiring entrepreneurs better understand the realities of building a successful online business.
Many people who start a business have unrealistic expectations about how long it will take, how much money they will make and how much effort it will require. These expectations can cause them to give up. My book not only includes interviews from 20+ entrepreneurs, but actionable advice business owners can use immediately.
