Featured Interview With clifford Benjamin
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am really a soft-spoken type of guy with an even keel disposition and try to treat everyone with a level of respect and try to reach out to others. After my tour in Germany in the military, I returned home and joined a R&B singing group and performed on the Clay Cole Rock Show at Palisades Amusement Park and then performed at nightclubs in and around New York. I later worked for Newsday as a manager until I started buying houses and repairing them renting them out to Low-income families until I retired. After a period, I learned to play piano and got into writing producing some 16 novels and still write to this day.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Actually, I started writing short stories and poems for Reader’s Digest in Germany but gave it up after returning home. I entered the university but realized it was not to be. I went through a rough patch for two decades partying with friends and relatives till some of them started dropping like flies. After grasping what was happening, and after working for Newsday, I went into writing then began buying houses until retirement. I took up writing and the piano throughout my retirement period, now spend the balance of my days writing and promoting my books with an interest still in writing.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are James Baldwin and Tennessee Williams and several others.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is ZOMBIE about a selfish and mad president that has low regard for human beings. He has a fetish murdering people for access to power and for sport. He was a wannabe Hitler in every fashion and adoring General Robert E. Lee, President Andrew Jackson and any corrupt individual. Also, he bore a strong dislike for blacks even the educated ones. His one aim is to take over the world and help the white race gain full control. Then out of the blue fate entered the equation. The question was, would it be enough to stop the beast within him from continuing his murderous ways? Who would dare face up to him and turn things around for the betterment of all humnity or would the world be dealt a final blow and crumble like the mighty Roman Empire?
