Featured Interview With Chase Blackwood
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I never know how to begin these introductions. What to say? State a bunch of random facts? Instead I will simply paint a picture of a good day for me.
I wake up, do some solid writing. Eat a good breakfast, with my dog laying beside me, then my whole pack (wife, dog, and I) go for a walk on the beach.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was young when I discovered I enjoyed stories and writing. As for the fantasy genre, I became increasingly interested in it around the age of 12.
In fact, it was hard to get the pen out of my hand. I kept small journals full of notes for book ideas for whatever project I was working on. I would consequently find these notes years later cleaning out my room and realize I had only used a handful of them.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I have many favorite authors, the list changes as I mature and depending on what I feel like reading. Recently, Patrick Rothfuss (although his latest novella wasn’t quite my taste), Wilbur Smith, Robin Hobb, and Scott Lynch.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Tears of a Heart is a labor of love. I’ve invested more time in developing this world, the overarching story line and the characters. I know where I want this story to go and have already plotted out the main story arc for the next few books.
Tears of a Heart is set in an expansive world (multiple continents), in which Imperium, the continent the book takes place in, is on the verge of war. It teeters on the edge as the protagonist unwittingly pushes it ever closer through innocent actions.
