Featured Interview With Chariss K. Walker

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Arkansas and grew up in the Mississippi Delta, living the life of a farmer’s daughter during the 1960s. I have traveled a great deal and lived in 17 states. I currently live in Amarillo, Texas.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I began to read at a very early age, even before I attended school. I was intrigued with books and read everything I could get my hands on. As for writing, I scribbled poems and short story lines in the margins of my text books during class. A book was always in my hand and a pen was never far away either.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love stories that get you invested in the character, such as Jack Ryan and Alex Cross. Long ago it was Travis McGee and Jesse Stone, just to name a few. It would be difficult to list any one favorite or even two or three, but I do tend to reach for the mystery or thriller series when I have time to read something other than nonfiction. I believe that most of the characters in my authored books are based in part on people I have know throughout my life whether good, bad or in-between.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Kaleidoscope is the first book in The Vision Chronicles, an eight book paranormal thriller series. Each book details approximately eight weeks in the life of Mike Lewis, our hero. When the first book opens, Mike is seeking help from an old friend because he has spent the last fifteen years fighting this gift. He sees the future through a kaleidoscope every time he closes his eyes, even when he kisses a lover. During the next eight weeks, Mike learns new techniques that help him lose his aversion to the gift and as his acceptance grows, the ability changes and evolves. The images begin to reveal personal messages and warn him of danger. He discovers that someone is after him and that they will do anything, even kill, to get him. Those trying to abduct him become more aggressive forcing Mike to take new measures to protect himself. Eventually, Mike realizes that he can never get free of them and after the deaths of close friends, he decides to run. The book ends with a cliff-hanger and Spyglass, the second book, continues where Kaleidoscope left off.
