Featured Interview With Carole A. Sellman
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Newark, New Jersey where I lived until I was eighteen months old. My mother and I moved to Gloucester, Virginia to live with my grandparents. We lived with them until I was twelve when my mother bought land and built a home of her own. I graduated high school in Gloucester and Thomas Nelson Community College in nearby Newport News for almost three semesters when I received my appointment for a job with the FBI. I then moved to the DC metro area. I lived in Virginia and DC before moving to Maryland where I made my home until the past year. I lived in many places in Maryland from Silver Spring to Takoma Park, Landover and Landover Hills, New Carrollton, Bowie, and Denton on the Eastern Shore. When we decided we had enough of the winters we moved to Lexington, South Carolina. I have one grown son who moved with us to South Carolina. I currently have one cat, Lily, a calico. I am still mourning my two dogs, Brandy, a Lhasa Apso and Crystal a Shih Tso mix.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been fascinated with books from a baby from what my mother says. She tells me it was always hard for me to be satisfied with her reading me enough. That is why she taught me to read at an early age. I could read, write and do math before I went to school. I wrote me first story at five. I think it had three lines. But that was all I needed to open a new world. I could write the stories in my head when I did not have what to read.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genre is romance. I prefer Christian Fiction. It has only been such a joy over the last few years to see how Christian Fiction is expanding and there are so many choices now. I have to start with Danielle Steele because she has always been one of my most favorite authors and also Robyn Carr is another favorite, though neither of these is in my genre. In Christian Fiction I love Wanda Brunstetter who is famous for her Amish works. Then there is Francine Rivers, Janette Oke, and I have to include Michele Chenowyth.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
This is a story about two people who feel they are not at the point in their lives that they are looking for romance. Krystal Jones is a single mother who made a mistake and is suffering the consequences. Reverend Franklin Williams has his first senior pastor position and that is all he is interested in. He just wants all of these ladies to leave him alone and let him grow his church. God has plans for these two. But the devil is always trying to interfere with God’s people and he uses those who are weak around them to sometimes do his bidding. I try to show in my book that we all have to be forgiving of one another and not be judgmental.

But it doesn’t give the title of your book.
Miss seeing you but it was 33 degrees this morning and I feel like moving south too.
