Featured Interview With Carol Harris
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I spent my early life in the east end of London, which was then a very poor area, not the trendy place it is now. I’ve lived in mid-Wales for the past 30 years, in an old vicarage in a small village. I used to have dogs (mainly Afghans and Lurchers), cats and horses and the occasional snake and other small animal, but nowadays just have visiting pheasants and smaller birds. However, our fields have Highland Cattle and Shetland ponies. Some of may activities have included fencing, playing Taiko (Japanese drumming), Indian dance and collecting fans.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always loved reading and writing, and wrote my first ‘books’ at about five or six years of age (and you can see two of those early books on my website). My published books have come out over the past 25 years. My books include business books (mainly based on NLP – Neuro-Linguistic Programming), educational books for children and various other topics, including a very popular book on traditional pig keeping and a collection of 150 stories about amusing things that have happened during my life (such as ‘Why did a pig eat a kipper’? ‘How did our street get covered in lino’? and ‘How inanimate objects strike back’.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I prefer to read non-fiction – mainly books on psychology, health and business, but do read lots of other things that cross my path. And a tip for people wh say they have no time to read is to keep a book in the loo and read a page or three each time you visit!
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I’m aiming to publish two books this spring. The first is on business and the second is on personal effectiveness. But as humour and simplicity are two of my key principles, both books are conversations between me and inanimate objects around my house. The second book is conversations between me and food and also contains recipes – more info. on this coming soon.
