Featured Interview With Candy Rayne
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in California and Virginia as a Navy brat so I am pretty well rounded. I currently live in Pascagoula Mississippi with my Husband, mother, and daughters. We also have a cat named Lexi. I work at Huntington Ingalls, where I have been a marine electrician for the past seven years. I have been a published author with Pink Kiss Publishing for the last three years. I have out two urban fiction novels called Tangled Web and Concrete Rose. I am currently working on my third novel as well as my Facebook Page Friends Against Verbal Abuse!
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have had a fascination with books as long as I could remember. I read Disney junior books until I graduated to Ann. M Martin and Beverly Cleary. Also R.L Stein. I started writing when I was about twenty four. I actually lost my first attempt at a novel in a broken computer. That didn’t discourage me though. I started on Tangled Web and as soon as I finished that one my dreams were beginning to come true. Tangled Web was published on Christmas of 2011!!!
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genre to read currently is urban fiction. Some of my favorite authors are Eric Jerome Dickey, Tracy Divine, Mz. Jetson, Elois Thames, and Naleignhia Kai. I am very inspired by every author out there because of their drive to succeed! I enjoy networking and getting ideas from other authors and also sharing my ideas!
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is called Concrete Rose. It is about a teenage girl who moves from Africa to The United States with her family and the family of the boy that she is betrothed to be married to. When she gets to The United States and starts mingling with other children she sees how much more free the customs are and questions her decision to marry the person that her parents have chosen for her. She sees everyone living carefree and her life just seems like it will be dull, because once they marry, he wants to go back to Africa, where everyone admires and listens to him. He is like a voice of demand! But there is a lot of money at stake for her parents if she chooses not to marry him. This is a book that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what she plans to do next!!!
