Featured Interview With Beverly Adam
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Although I was born in the Midwest, I’m pretty much a California gal. I was raised in Altadena, a small foothill community located below the shadow of Mount Wilson in Southern California. I attended Pasadena public schools, including the renowned college, Pasadena City College, where I received an Associate Arts degree in Photojournalism. I had my first exposure to writing screenplays there, of which two won first prizes. As a sophomore, I interned with the Pasadena Star News, the local newspaper, where I wrote and had my photographs published. I recently returned to the area a few months ago to live. At present I have no furry companions, but take my parents’ dog on daily walks in the lovely tree-lined streets here.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started writing at a very early age. I attempted writing a full-length novel when I was ten years old. Books were and still are my constant companion. I am a voracious reader, usually reading a novel, a biography, and a book of short stories or comic book series, alternating between them as my mood dictates. There is nothing worse than being somewhere, standing in line at the post office for example, and not having a book in my hand.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy reading my fellow Lachesis Publishing romance/paranormal authors, cozy murder mysteries, and the occasional biography. I recently finished reading Fly Girls by Keith O’ Brien, and women’s history holds a special place in my heart. I have written and researched two women who made their mark in history, one in film, the starlet Carole Lombard, and the other in photography, Mrs. Mary Jane Wyatt, pioneer traveling railroad photographer.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I rewrote and edited She Rode The Rails this year. The book was featured several years ago in Barnes and Noble Bookstores and written about by the Associated Press. It’s been over a decade and I need a publisher (crossing my fingers and saying a little prayer), who would want to republish it and give the cover an updated look.
