Featured Interview With Annemarie Musawale
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a single mom, born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya where I still live. I have a German Shephard named Misty.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was in kindergarten when I started reading and being an introvert, it was a great way to pass the time. I think it was about the same time that I started writing. I would write a story and show it to my mom. She’d read it and tell me, ‘Very Good’. I liked that. So I would write another story.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I am currently waiting patiently for Book 9 of the Outlander Series. Diana Gabaldon says it’s coming out soon. She taught me how to write love. J.K. Rowling taught me how to write a series. I believe she’s a genius. I also love Maria Doria Russell because she’s the first author I read who incorporated African characters into the world of their stories and treated us like we exist as more than just charity cases.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is the fifth book of my Child of Destiny series. It’s written in both third and first person. the first person narrative is the voice of the ‘child’ who is currently a baby. It’ll be out on Valentine’s Day God willing. You should catch up on the other four books if you want to preorder. They cover the gamut from thriller to erotica, paranormal to mystery.
