Featured Interview With Andreia Nobre
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but was raised in the countryside. I left Brazil in 2004 and have lived in Portugal, UK, Spain and France, where I am now.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I became fascinated with books from the moment I learned to read. I started writing poetry at 10! In my teens, I started writing tales, which are still my writing style. I like short stories like the one you can find in tales.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
In the past, for my comedy I took inspiration in a Brazilian author called Luis Fernando Verissimo. Before his humored books, my favorite genre was (and still is) crime and detective stories (translated or national). For my next tales, though, I take inspiration on Margareth Artwood with her The Handmade Tales and feminist theory.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I had been trying out jokes on Twitter for sometime now. When I lived in UK, I aspired to be a stand-up comedian, but never had the chance. Last year, I was quitting smoking and thought that some tips were really silly. Instead of giving up, I decided to mock these tips. That’s what The Grumpy Guide to Quit Smoking is about.
