Featured Interview With Allyson McQuinn
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a Physician of Natural Medicine physically situated in Canada but working internationally by Skype and phone. I grew up in the the Maritimes in New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. Right now I live in Saint John, New Brunswick but Winter over in Panama. We had biodynamic farm for years when our kids were younger with 36 animals, but now we’re down to one cat. I’ve written 13 books, including a couple of memoirs, books of poetry and a best-selling series called “The Natural Home Pharmacy …” They’re bourn out of my deep desire to help other parents use natural forms of medicine at home for themselves, their children and their animals.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I started with Ann Of Green Gables and Nancy Drew when I was a kid. I started writing stories and poetry also when I was 8 or 9. Sadly, in my 20’s and 30’s I became very sick, also giving birth to a son damaged by vaccines who was thrown into the Spectrum. I made a pact that if he was ever cured, I’d write a book about it. That is how it all started for me almost 20 years ago. With my own burgeoning health, I just can’t seem to stop. Folks call me prolific!
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I’m deeply inspired by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, Goethe, Coleridge, Rudolf Steiner, Wilhelm Reich, Henri Bortoft etc. Mostly romantic science. I also love Shakespeare and a whole myriad of classic literature and some modern too. I love classic poetry, but right now reading some David Whyte.
