Featured Interview With Alex R Carver
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Bristol, England, and after a number of years away, in which I have lived a few places without finding somewhere that feels like home, I’m back, living in the house my mum grew up in. My time, when I’m not writing, is taken up with bringing the house into the modern era (it hasn’t had much done to it in decades).
Getting in the way of the renovations and redecorating is Molly, the Yorkie, who is an attention hog who likes to get underfoot at every opportunity.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I was ten when I started writing, thanks to a creative writing assignment at school; I came up with a Famous Five style kids adventure, the kind of thing I’d have liked to be part of, that I now wish I still had.
I haven’t really stopped writing since, though I have taken the occasional break, and I am now working on publishing a collection of books I’ve written.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love George RR Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series, and pretty much anything by Anne McCaffrey, her ability to create so many different worlds and such believable characters is amazing.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Where There’s A Will is the first book in a detective series I have been writing, with 5 more titles to be released over the next few years.
It took me 2 years to write what I have of the series, which was inspired by the multitude of detective books and TV series I have read and watched, and especially by A Touch of Frost starring David Jason.
My main character, Inspector Stone, is a family man with a wife and kids, and a dislike of technology; in the first book he has to investigate an armed robbery and the kidnap for ransom of a schoolgirl whose father is a rich and influential businessman.
