Featured Interview With Adrienne Thompson
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Ohio and raised in the great state of Arkansas. I’m a southern girl through and through, with an accent to match! I’m a music fanatic, an occasional football fan, mother of 3, grandmother of 1.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have been in love with reading since my mother introduced me to Little Golden Books as a small child. By the time I was 18 years old, I had amassed a collection of 300 books–mostly teen romance. I’ve been a writer most of my life, but up until 2009, I wrote mainly poetry. In 2009, I wrote my first novel. But I’ve always been a very animated and kind of dishonest verbal storyteller, lol.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are James Patterson, Bernice McFadden, Terry McMillan, Barbara Joe Williams, Cathy Jo, and Nakia Laushaul. I love a good women’s fiction novel, but I’m also a fan of thrillers and suspense novels.
Life inspires me rather one particular person or author. I love observing people and their lives. I also love using my own life experiences and fictionalizing them.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, Better, is an Interracial Romance (Black Woman/Native American Man) and women’s fiction hybrid. In Better, our heroine, Carla Foster, is still reeling from what she calls “the ultimate betrayal” of catching her husband in the midst of his infidelity. Now, seemingly stuck in marital limbo, she finally decides to move on with her life only to find herself face-to-face with a monster. As her life begins to crumble, she wonders if things will ever get better. Will Carla be able to find healing and eventually, love?
Tagline: She’s been through hell. He just wants to make things better… but will she let him?
It took about three months for me to complete this novel, but I’m a fast writer. I’ve written and/or completed 4 books this year, so far!
