Her Unexpected Cowboy

About Her Unexpected Cowboy:

She’s a goat rancher in desperate need of help. He’s the cowboy who lands on her doorstep with amnesia. Neither expects the dangers that follow…

Sydney clings to her loneliness like a badge, refusing the help she desperately needs for her ranch. When a broken and bleeding (and handsome) cowboy winds up on her porch, she has to decide whether to help him or send him limping away.

Jameson has nothing to offer the stunning, headstrong rancher who gives him shelter, but he can’t walk away—not with danger closing in and nowhere to run. Staying puts them both at risk, but leaving could be deadly.

As the past catches them up in a web of destruction, Jameson and Sydney realize there is more at stake than just their hearts—their lives hang on the thread of Jameson’s lost memory.

Author Bio

I am the author and publisher of military history, historical fiction, spiritual books and memoirs. Published by Pen and Sword, my military history books include Herbert Columbine VC, Surviving the Nazi Onslaught, A Battle Too Far, From Colonial Warrior to Western Front Flyer, The Battle of Bellewaarde 1915, A History of Coalhouse Fort and A History of Women’s Lives in Scunthorpe. I worked for several years in the Military Corrective Training Centre, Colchester, the British Forces’ only military prison, culminating in a history of the establishment written in the words of those who were there, Military Detention Colchester. I also publish a series of books under the banner Real Lives. Memories in Print which is a free service to ensure our history does not get forgotten. Please see my website for more details.

To date I have written twenty six novels. Of these four are sagas, Lives Apart: A WW 2 Chronicle (5 books), Obsession (5 books), Secret Lives (6 books) and A One Way Ticket (4 books). I have also written three stand alone novels: Betrayed; Love, Resistance, Betrayal and Hunting Shadows. I also ghost write novels and biographies privately and for Story Terrace.

I decided after finishing Obsession that I needed a little break from the Second World War so perhaps I should write about the Great War instead. I also wanted to write something that offered a theory as to how we have ended up with the world we are currently living in. This was a big undertaking as it would need to be several books and I didn’t want it all to be one long series as people, quite understandably, prefer to buy a series once the whole thing is written. Nothing worse than being engrossed in a series and not knowing what happens at the end because the author didn’t get to finish it. I’m not getting any younger so I decided to err on the side of caution and write several series, that could be read as stand alone series. That way if I don’t get to the end you won’t miss out. I knew where I wanted the books to finish, so it was just a case of writing the rest! After some thought I decided to start just before the Great War and Secret Lives was born. The six book series follows the lives of several families in the UK and Europe before and during the Great War, begins in 1913 and ends in 1918. The Eagle Quartet follows on from Secret Lives and
I am currently halfway through writing the final book of the series. Dark Eagles Rising is in two parts and is set in Germany, Austria and Italy through the 1920s and 1930s and, as the blurb above says, Sleeping Eagles is set in America, Britain and Australia with Part One set in the 1920s and Part Two in the 1930s. Once this is finished the plan is to start the next series which will follow the characters through WW2. All books are available in kindle and paperback from Amazon and other internet retailers or you can borrow them from your library.

All Roads Lead To Winter by Mark Fuller Dillon

All Roads Lead To Winter by Mark Fuller Dillon

The aliens are here, and now our lives are different: no wars, no hunger, no exploitation. For political prisoner Thomas Bridge, there can be a strange new love; for the alien delegate, Avdryana, there can be companionship in a world that she finds crowded and foreign. But even with hope for the future, can there be an escape from the stifling ideas and expectations of the past? For adults only.

“All Roads Lead to Winter” is an erotic science fiction novella. It deals with the intervention, in our world, of an alien species from a parallel Earth — an intervention that has improved life drastically for most human beings. Yet for reasons of his own, the protagonist rejects this golden age.

The tale is focused on his complex relationship with an alien woman. This relationship is passionate and definitely sexual (for that reason, the book is recommended for adult readers only). But it also forces him to look into his past, into the hidden motivations of his mind and heart.

And that is the heart of the story: parallel worlds, politics, the grip of memory, the strength and generosity of women, the pain of loss, the mystery of love… and all the roads that lead to winter.

“Dillon writes well, with sensitivity and an ability to evoke not only the lushness and beauty of the natural world but its transitory quality, that everything fades and dies…. ‘All Roads Lead to Winter’ was a novella that engaged both the emotions and the intellect, making the reader think and feel.”

[Peter Tennant, BLACK STATIC Online, 29th January, 2023]

“This novella is driven by punchy dialogue, expertly handled, which is a refreshing change from many contemporary writers who shy away from such complex interaction. I was enchanted by the story of Thomas and Avdryana, and I could not stop reading until Thomas’s fate was revealed — his choice made. ‘All Roads Lead to Winter’ is a wonderful tale, expertly told and perfectly formed. It feels like it must have been a very personal journey for the author. Go and download a copy now; Mark Fuller Dillon is a rare talent who deserves to be much more widely read.”

[Martin Cosby, author of DYING EMBERS]

“This is a remarkable science fiction(ish) novella about a theme that, at first glance, might seem hackneyed — what happens when the aliens arrive? Here, though, the author has rung changes on the central premise so as to make it a truly satisfying and moving read…. There’s far more to this slender book than you’ll find in a shelf full of over-hyped ‘literary’ novels. Firstly, the sexual encounter — like everything else — is beautifully described, and the endnotes reveal that one of Dillon’s influences is J.G. Ballard. Secondly, the author is more of a ‘taker out’ than a ‘putter in’, giving his writing the refreshing clarity of his wilderness setting. Thirdly, it’s a lot of fun. The idea of feline evolution is cleverly handled, and there are a lot of intriguing ideas about how intelligent species might interact that are reminiscent of Olaf Stapledon’s LAST AND FIRST MEN. All in all, I can’t fault this book. If you like science fiction, you should read it. If you enjoy erotic fiction, you should read it.”

[David Longhorn, editor of SUPERNATURAL TALES]
