Featured Interview With Jeff Senior
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in West Yorkshire, England, and still live here, in a place called Liversedge. I’ve never been tempted to move away because it’s a nice place to live. I don’t have any pets, just a wife, two sons and two grandchildren.
I’m now semi-retired but worked for a long time in IT and did over thirty years as a freelance writer. I was initially a technical author, writing user guides and help text for computer software, then moved on to magazine articles plus website text and blogs. I’m now attempting to re-launch my career with a debut novel, recently published.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
At school, I was always particularly interested in English Language and Literature, and I liked to write. I continued that into my career and have always written in some form or another, although not anything that’s been widely read.
As most people know, computer user guides don’t get read. They just sit on a shelf. I did have a published book in the 1980s in England, “Microcomputer Buyer’s Guide”, which had a very restricted circulation and sold hardly any copies. I’ve ghost-written two business books that aren’t of course in my name although I do get an acknowledgement.
Now I’m trying to get into proper writing that people might actually read.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I generally like to read crime and thriller novels, including books by Harlan Coben. I also like legal novels, particularly those by John Grisham, plus historical novels by Bernard Cornwell. I used to read a lot of horror books, especially by Stephen King, but I think I’ve moved on from that now.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My debut novel is called “The Itch That Couldn’t Be Scratched”, which was published on 1 March and is available on Amazon and from other retailers. It’s a tale of obsession, of one man’s quest to obtain justice for a woman he never knew, and how it affected those around him.
The story is mainly based on the principle that, whatever decisions we make, whatever actions we take, affect those around us and then those around them. The effect ripples outward and means that lives are never as they would have been otherwise. All actions have consequences.
We might do something with the best of intentions but we have no way of knowing how it will turn out. Thus, good actions may ultimately have terrible outcomes while malevolent deeds might eventually have beneficial results. This is something the main character in the book learns to his cost.
The book probably took about 18 months to write, although most of it was done on a part-time basis. It was written on a variety of devices, including a phone and tablet, with everything eventually transferred onto a laptop to be put together, edited, polished and checked repeatedly.

——————–
“It’s this one,” Billie said, sorting through her keys. “304.” As she fiddled with the keys someone opened the unit next door.
A tall guy wearing a black t-shirt and jeans stepped outside and turned to lock the door. He smiled as he glanced at Billie and me. I swallowed, my mouth immediately dry. This guy was jaw-droppingly gorgeous. He had wavy dark brown hair almost black, a strong jaw, and these amazing pale blue eyes that jumped out against his olive skin tone. He had broad shoulders, and strong biceps. When he turned away, I couldn’t help but notice that his backside was just as gorgeous. I had to remind myself not to stare again.
“Oh, that’s Theo,” Billie said to me softly. “Hey Theo!” she called a little louder. “New tenant, Callie. You should say hello. You two might be neighbors.” Her voice was a little sing-song as she fiddled with her keys.
“Oh, I don’t want to interrupt him,” I said, wishing I had bothered to brush my hair that morning. I didn’t even have on mascara since I’d cried it all off the night before.
Theo strode toward us smiling. His pale blue eyes were even more magnetic close up.
He held out his hand. “Pleased to meet you, Callie, or shall I say neighbor,” he gave my hand a firm squeeze. His voice had a lilt to it, British I assumed, though I’d never been really good with accents outside of knowing they made me melt.
His hands were large, strong and warm. I immediately liked the feeling of his skin against mine.
“Maybe neighbor,” I said, laughing as my cheeks burned. “I need to apply and see the place, but it seems nice. Like everyone I’ve met seems wonderful and so welcoming . . .”
His hair was slightly long so it hung in waves not quite hitting his shoulder or falling into his eyes. I had to fight the urge to reach out and brush the curls off his forehead. “Oh, you’ll like it here,” Theo said. “Billie runs a tight ship. Nothing but the most beautiful apartments this side of the University. Right Billie?”
“Got it!” Billie said holding up a key. I doubted she’d been listening to us at all. She’d fiddled with a series of keys before hitting pay dirt. “Almost thought I’d have to leave you here with Theo and who knows where that would lead.”
“Who knows?” he said, grinning at me.
“Right,” I said, smiling back thinking that being alone with Theo was not a horrible thought, not a horrible thought at all.
Billie opened the door and gestured for me to follow.
“I’ll leave you two to your tour then,” Theo said, nodding. “Later neighbor.” He turned and glanced back once with a smile before he walked down the hall.
“Bye,” I said, almost under my breath.

About Hesed: Does the Tanakh Foreshadow Jesus?:
While arguing with the Jewish religious leaders, Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; . . .” In this series of books we will examine the Tanakh in order to see if Jesus’ claim has any merit.
In Hesed Volume One we will consider the following elements from the Tanakh:
the practice of sacrificial atonement – does it prefigure Jesus’ death on the cross?
the lives of Joseph, Moses, David, and Daniel – were the conspicuous similarities between their lives and Jesus’ life inserted in the Tanakh to foreshadow Jesus?
Hesed Volume One is for Jewish people who want to know the truth about Jesus. It is also good for Christians who want to learn about the Tanakh, or Old Testament.

About Brave as Thistles:
Brave as Thistles, a collection of poems by Lauri Cruver Cherian, was inspired by a trip to the Highlands of Scotland where the author encountered the national emblem, the thistle. Scottish legend tells of a party of Scots warriors who were invaded by Norsemen. The Vikings removed their shoes and crept up to attack the sleeping Clansmen. One of the invaders trod on a spiky thistle and his anguished cry alerted the Scots to the attack. If your life journey has brought you to a place where bravery is required, may you be like the thistle, delicate and beautiful, yet tenacious and strong, able to flourish through any season. Brave as Thistles is emotional, evocative, and thoughtful in the exploration of the essence of what it means to be brave.

Featured Interview With Michael Falls
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Espanola Ontario Canada, and adopted at an early age, raised in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario but moved to Alberta in my late teens where I currently still reside. I am recently widowed so at present it’s just me and dog Frankie. Since my earliest memories I have had words and ideas running rampant through my mind , often making concentration on other task difficult , as a child I didn’t recognize it either a gift or a talent and i would be well into middle age before putting pen to paper and paper and releasing those words. For the most part I consider what I write to be lyrics, I had to pushed in the poetic direction , granted in some cases , mine especially , not much separates the two and the bulk of my inspiration come from modern Era lyricist such as Kurt Cobain, Mark Lanegan , Jim Morrison and Gary Numan to name a few .I lean toward the darker side of our existence , like a lonesome stroll on a deserted beach in late fall when the lake is still and the water black.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
It started with comic books when I was perhaps 8 years old and eventually matured to novels like Hardy Boys and Tarzan , later into adulthood it would be Stephen King, Dean Kuntz and the Mother of all fantasy , Lord of the Rings. I always imagined myself as a writer and I did periodically approach the idea but I think I lacked the maturity and had yet to experience the things that eventually define my writing, any serious attempts would occur until 2017, they continue til present day.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
As stated earlier I do lean more to music and in fact have never really read poetry, I consider Stephen King’s The Stand to be one of our times great literary works, also Twilight Eyes by Dean Kuntz , great reading but don’t inspire my writing, that comes from Nirvana unplugged, Mark Lanegan Bubblegum, Blind Melon Soup, or my all time favorite song since I was 15 years old All Mixed Up by The Cars.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book , like its predecessor , is a collection of dark and often introspective poetry that although personal still are very relatable to all readers, especially any who’s ever dealt with depression and loss. Hence the title Walking Through The Ruins.

Featured Interview With Sarah P. Blanchard
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a New England farmer at heart, raised on a dairy-and-horse farm in Connecticut. I’ve also lived on the Big Island of Hawaii and in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where several of my short stories and my debut novel, Drawn from Life, is set.
I earned a B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut and an M.B.A. from Nichols College, before working for many years in communications and marketing. On side journeys, I’ve also been a volunteer firefighter, radio news anchor, talk show host, magazine editor, website developer, horse trainer, grantwriter, and facilities supervisor for a large astronomy observatory. I also taught English and communications for five years at the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
I’m now dividing my time between western North Carolina and northeastern Connecticut, where my husband and I have family. I have a horse named Cody and a (very) small dog, a poodle-shitzu mix named Mitzi.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I can’t remember how old I was when I began reading, but I clearly remember devouring my mother’s collection of Reader’s Digest condensed books the summer I was ten, while tending my vegetable stand in the front yard. I began writing stories around the same time. My first writing award came in seventh grade, when I won a statewide prize for nonfiction prose and decided I was hot stuff. After many years in the corporate world, I began writing (serious) fiction and realized I needed to work a lot harder on my craft. Several of my poems and stories have been published, and the story “Playing Chess with Bulls” was a finalist for the 2021 Doris Betts Fiction Prize. I’m active in several writers’ groups and workshops.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Rural life and the natural world have strongly influenced my writing, as have the works of Southern writers Barbara Kingsolver, Charles Frazier, and Ron Rash. I also love the British mysteries of Ann Cleeves and Elizabeth George. Joyce Carol Oates and Margaret Atwood are my inspirations for the darker aspects of human nature.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
After reading a 2017 article in The New Yorker (“The Shame and Sorrow of the Accidental Killer” by Alice Gregory), I became intrigued by the various ways people deal with moral injury. I began writing a story about two young women who are also cousins, one haunted by guilt and the other seemingly unencumbered by a conscience. The story became the novel Drawn from Life, set in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It also explores themes of bullying, family loyalty, secrets and betrayals. Begun during the pandemic, it took me almost four years to write–mostly because it turned from a mostly literary exploration of moral injury into a high-stakes psychological mystery.
Here’s the back-cover blurb:
Life-changing tragedy. Conflicting memories. Is she a killer or a victim?
Emma Gillen is haunted by guilt. Almost a decade after surviving a deadly car crash, she’s held hostage by long-term damage to her body and no recollection of that tragic event. Then her volatile cousin Lucy returns, needing money and bringing chaos. Emma must decide if she should bargain with the beautiful, untrustworthy Lucy—a possible witness to the crash—to uncover their shared past.
All bargains carry risk. As Lucy grows more desperate and greedy, Emma suspects there’s more at stake than just money. Struggling with shame, night terrors, and her own unreliable memory, Emma accepts help from a compassionate detective. But the choice remains hers alone: Can she find the strength to free herself from the danger of her cousin’s destructive power, or will Lucy bring everything crashing down?
Kirkus Reviews calls Drawn from Life a “skillfully executed story of suspense with compellingly complex characters….A well-crafted thriller about memories regained.”
